Beyond Insane.

If Bannister can keep it together and be decent, The Royals will easily have 2 of my favorite SPs.

Can you imagine if they hadn't given Zack the extension in this offseason, how much it would cost now?

This was my first trip to The K this year. Hopefully the first of many.

Walking up to the stadium you see the new facade.

My sister and I got there early to walk around the outfield and check out all the new stuff. It truly is a brand new ballpark. We checked out the sports bar and walked up to the Bud Light Party Deck. An hour before the game people had already staked out their seats on the railing. Same for the Pepsi Party Porch along the outfield wall.

The scoreboard looks really huge when you're standing right under it.

My next game (Thurs if I can get some friends to go) I want to sit out in the fountain seats. Bring rain gear if its windy.

Me before the game. We had great seats 5 rows behind the Sox dugout.

First pitch - it was a strike of course...

Jose Guillen gets the first hit of the game. He later scored the first run on Alberto Callaspo's single.

Zack dealing... I like how they have the pitcher's stats on that board on the sports bar.

Sluggerrrr. I have mixed feelings about our mascot. He does a good job, but the head with the built-it crown is kinda weird.

Mike Jacobs...he ended up getting a walk.

These guys were a couple or rows behind me. Nice sign.

Cheerleader during the 7th inning stretch.

Zack walking off after getting his 10th strikeout to end the 8th inning. He was still throwing in the mid 90's in the final two innings. They didn't even have someone warming up in the bullpen. His game to win.

His stats after 8 innings.

Pitching in the 9th. The fans were on their feet cheering the whole 9th inning and erupted when Thome popped out to end the game.

Overall a great night of baseball. I love the new stadium. The wider concourses make it much easier to get to concessions, and being able to walk completely around the outfield and the fountains is great. My only complains were not being able to get a Boulevard Pale Ale (I only saw Wheat) and not getting a Sheboygan Brat. I was able to get a draft of Guinness and they had Scimeca's Brats which were tasty, but much smaller.

I can't wait to go back. This is going to be a fun team to watch and the stadium really adds to the experience.

Very nice pics, Jim.
I agree that its nice having the pitcher's stats on the party deck scoreboard. They also have the visitor's pitcher stats on the left field version above their bullpen.
21,843 attendance last night. Not bad for a Monday. Hopefully those crowds grow with our win total as the summer goes along

brag: I sat probably 25 rows behind Jim and closer to outfield but paid $5 for seats. cool picks. how lame was that game with the baseball slang. I had never heard the saying "can of corn" in my life before last night. The guy behind me started saying it every time someone hit a routine fly ball though, royals bringing back 1940's slang ftw

Nice TR, Jim. Went to the game as well. I wish you hadn't pointed that out about Slugerrr's head. It's very weird, now that you mention it.

I've been to two store today looking for the SI with greinke on the cover with no dice. If anyone wants to make a couple bucks and pick one up and send it to me I'll ship $10 on stars or FTP for it. I'm thinking they are sold out at least in Lawrence.

Non royals fan just checking in again.

Thanks so much for Greinke. Drafted him in round 16 of fantasy and he is like the best pickup ever.

Sweet pics Jim. ALMOST done with school and see you guys at the K all the time. Yikes at that cheerleader pic though...I'd hit it, but we can do a lot better. Just go to Power and Light if you don't believe me.

calling her a cheerleader is a little much. all they do is throw t-shirts and dogs at fans. I mean, half of those people are dudes. baseball is lacking for hot women dancing, maybe they should add inning girls similar to boxing?

small league? I thought he was generally valued as a 6-8th rounder or something pre-season. sick sick value if regular sized league. this will be an epic 4 game winning streak if the royals can find a way to win here

She was the least attractive one I saw, she just happened to be right in front of me.

Man this team is fun to watch. If the pitchers aren't on their game, the batters are picking them up (finally). I watched the last 4 innings at my bar and the crowd was so into it. And when Buck shot that ball past 3rd, the place went nuts.

Watching the postgame they said we drew 11 walks. I think that was a good month for us last year. It was so frustrating seeing pitch counts last year. Meche would be at 95 in the 7th inning and the other teams starter would be at 75. Kevin Seitzer is doing a great job this year teaching these guys plate discipline.

I guess the sports illustrated article is online. If you haven't read it yet it's well written by Joe Poz (KC Star) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...nke/index.html

Ponson has pitched great tonight. 6 innings, just 1 run and we lead 8-1. Very nice outfield assist by Mitch Maier, and wtf did Branyan say to Olivo after he got thrown out at home?
