Yeah, every team needs a 33-year old (if that's even his real age) DH who can't hit for power or average anymore. Not sure if you are leveling but whatever.

First place and 14-11 overall after taking 2 of 3 in Minny is very nice.

He spent years with a winning organization which means a lot on a team with zero experience that makes too many stupid mistakes.

Or we could pick up Barry Bonds....

....NOT!!!!

why wouldnt you want bonds?

The downside outweighs the upside.

I think he'd be terrible for team chemistry. I don't think you want to use up a roster spot for a 43 (or whatever) DH.

If we were a veteran team making a playoff run, he might be a good fit, but not this Royals team.

Who needs chemistry when you have an awesome collection of talent like the 2008 Detroit Tigers.

chemistry is usually a bull**** argument but with people like bonds and TO and all the media crap I think it applies

he's supposed to be around a .300 hitter. doesn't strike out like ever but rarely draws a walk. unless they move him up in the order, his rbi production thus far should drop

He's definitely capable of hitting .310 with 30 doubles, and 90 runs. He is finally getting ABs, and he is proving that he can hit at this level. I think if he gets over 500 ABs, then he'll be a top 10 2b this year. Not gonna pop many HR, but he has a great eye and a very good contact swing. The issue is if we can keep him on the field to get that many ABs when Gordon comes back.

What a ****ing game. Ship the Cy Young already to #23, it's a done deal!

It's good to see GREEAR that your team doesn't have World Series expectations to finish in the barrel again. Enjoy looking up to the Royals all season.

Work kept me from the game tonight, I love going to the "new" K. I'm going to try and not miss Grienke pitch again at home if I can help it. Kid is sick.

Damn Greinke is good.

I may have to photoshop Greinke blocking Wade instead of Ginobili.

He looks like the real deal to me. He will more than likely slow down at some point but he has a really nice swing and doesn't try to do too much. He should keep getting those doubles in the gaps.

And another great game for Greinke tonight. What a beast!!!

Cub fan here...WCIU tonight so decided to tune into my first AL action of the season. Good god, Greinke is sick.

mother ****er, the royals have an off day next week. Otherwise, I would be lined up to see Greinke at the K on 5/14.

went to the game tonight. I am 2-0 watching games at the K seeing greinke pitch 18 innings of zero earned run ball. One side of me wishes that in one of those two games I could have seen soria for the first time live but the other side gets goosebumps from the electricity the crowd brings during the 9th of both complete games.

If you live in KC, there is no reason you should not go to every outing this kid starts, he could really do something historic this year, not to mention he's probably the best royal since George "oops I pooped my pants at the Bellagio" Brett. I'll be in vegas all summer, but otherwise I would go to all greinke games.

I just got home from the game and what a night. The stadium was a little over half full, but it had a playoff atmosphere.

I took a bunch of pics and will post a TR tomorrow.

Just stopping by to say a few things.

From one underdog franchise fan to another: Best of luck. You guys are fun as hell to watch, and I'm hoping to see you guys in the WS (Yes, I'm the guy from SportsBetting that placed a wager on KC to win the WS about 2 months ago). I also have a HUGE man-crush on Zach Grienke.

Hi Royals thread! I've decided that KC will be my official AL-team-to-sorta-care-about this year, because you have a badass pitching staff and wear a proper baseball team color. Also I get immediate Royals-street-cred because my former-uncle-in-law won a WS MVP for you guys 6 months before I was born, right?

Think Blue!

I would pitch or catch from Grienke if you know what I'm saying. And everyone in here who says they wouldn't is lying.
