It was in response to WS talk, although I realize that was in jest anyway. The wolf says "let's not start sucking each other off just yet" or something to that effect. I mainly just posted it because I was proud to finally learn how to post images

Golfing tomorrow so I miss first half of game but let's get those brooms blue crew!

I don't know if it's Trey's fault, or Dayton's fault for forcing Farnsworth on Trey to justify the signing. I have to agree with a guy I heard on the radio saying Farnsworth has no business being in there in high leverage situations. Throw him in Fri night when we have a 12-0 lead but not when the game is on the line.

I guess that meme hasn't quite caught on yet.

Farnsworth has more loses than the rest of the team combined, lol. Rany went off of Trey again, I wonder how many more times this has to happen before Soria starts pitching the 8th. You would think with how succesful the yankees have been pitching Rivera for 1+ inning saves, it would become more mainstream among teams with dominant closers. So frustrating how risk averse every manager/coach in every god damn sport is especially considering like 90% of them get **** canned within five years anyway.

I don't want to pile on Trey just yet. Players have to make plays. Jacobs needs to field his position and the other relievers have to get outs too.

But if Farnsworth can't get anyone out, he has no reason being on this team, and that's on Dayton Moore.

Re: Dayton Moore signing Farnsworth. That was a dumb move and we overpaid for a bad reliever. It was actually the worst move he's made, but most of his others are quite good. I'm not going to get on Dayton because he has made us more of a contender.

I'm not really buying the players have to make plays argument here. Hillman decides who plays and when they play. He continually misplaces players in the field, and he is horrible with his bullpen.

Today was just a glaringing obvious example of both. Jacobs is not a good fielder and should be taken out of late game leads if he is even in there in the first place. Butler is not great, but is certainly > Jacobs on D. Late game D should have been TPJ at SS, Aviles at 3B, Teahan at 1B. Or just have Butler at 1B at least.

At this point everyone knows Farnsworth should not be pitching in high leverage situations. Okay, so he brings in Cruz in the 7th for Davies. I am fine with that as Cruz has been our 2nd best reliever and can get thru 2 innings or at least get us safely to Soria somehow. Soria, the best reliever on the team and one of the best in the league had yet to pitch in over 3 days. This should be an auto-win.

BUT, Trey decides to yank Cruz after getting 2 outs and allowing 1 baserunner. Hamilton, who is a lefty is coming up. He hasn't gotten a damn bat on the ball all weekend. Trey goes to Mahay, who he claims isn't our lefty specialist. I am fine with Mahay pitching to a lefty, but why waste Cruz for just 2 outs?

Mahay gives up a run in the 8th and with runners on 1st and 3rd and in comes Jamey Wright?!?!wtf? Why not let Soria get 5 outs and end this ****? Wright surrenders the tie run. Woops. Well, we don't score and in the 9th inning of a tie game Hillman decides to bring in the guy who has lost 2 of our 4 games. Brilliant idea. Homerun, ballgame.

It is an absolute joke to keep trying a failing strategy. Trey cannot handle these decisions and should be fired.

The only pitchers besides starters that should be in the game in the 7th-9th innings of very close games are Tejada, Cruz, & Soria.

Farnsworth is a sunk cost. No use in making that error bigger by misusing the guy time and again. I have a hard time blaming it on DM, as Fanmail said, he has done a good job to date and no one can bat 100% wrt roster moves. I can't imagine DM putting pressure of Hillman w/ regards to playing Farnsworth in clutch situations to justify the money he is making, just doesn't make sense. Hillman is 100% to blame for putting him in in suboptimal situations.

Blaming it on Jacobs is missing the point because everyone knew we have horrible infield defense coming into the year. Our above average bullpen is supposed to make up for that.

Soria hadn't pitched for 6 days and had a day off tomorrow. There is absolutely zero reason not to bring him in in the 8th. It makes no sense to be this stubborn about Soria not pitching more than 3 outs ever. Jesus Trey.

I was working during the game and the bar got real busy in the last couple of innings so I wasn't totally aware how the pitchers were being used. I think Cruz stays in until he's not effective. Mahay hasn't been as sharp as he was last year. Hopefully Trey realizes that Farnsworth is his garbage time reliever an only uses him when were're up 12 or down 12.

I totally agree with this. No excuse for Trey here.

But look on the bright side... We took the series. We've won 3 out of 4 series this year. We're still in first (tied). And Greeear hasn't posted here yet.

Hey, Farnsworth pitched an inning without giving up a run!

Damn, Jacobs missed a game tying homer by 1 foot.

Frustrating game (6 DPs in 6 straight innings) but encouraging the way we battled back. Ponson looked pretty crappy. Also Callaspo seems to have been possessed by Jose Guillen, swinging out of his shoes on the first pitch.

Another frustrating loss. This team could win almost every game, it seems. At least Bannister has been called up to start tomorrow instead of HoRam. Curious to see how he does, tough place to make his first start of the year.

excuse a poor boston fan who has to pay 40 bucks for the cheap seats and 8 bucks for a beer, but what is buck night? $1 tickets?

$1 for hot dogs, small sodas, peanuts or mini pretzels. They do it like 8 times a season, although they do still have $7 dollar tickets availiable for any game, small markets ftw

Banny looked good. If he can be closer to his 2007 self than 08, then we have a solid #4 starter. An ERA around 4.5 or so would be adequate. As for today, more runners left on base in scoring position with less than 2 outs is so frustrating.
