damn it's nice to be rooting for these guys right now! so much fun to watch. the only downside is that the damned indians and tigers are both hot as well. this sucks because we're as good as we've ever been, and probably won't get a wild card spot! i have to admit, i've never, ever watched a royals game on TV in august. like ever. when was the last time a single game in august meant anything? we had games in '03 where they meant we might finish under .500, that's about it. no decent late summer baseball in kansas city in DECADES... so this is a lot of fun to watch at least!
Offense made a statement with a 3 run, 41 pitch 1st inning. Can't believe they let Lester get thru 7 innings after that though.

ya i was really really concerned we were just racking up runs vs. the weaker competition in the AL the last few weeks, i was so glad to see that 1st inning. totally unexpected. i'm less worried about the lack of runs after that, and more pleased with how well chen is doing--along with the rest of the starters. i guess chen is in the rotation full time and wade will be coming back (damn it!). i am guessing that we still could bring duffy or another guy up at the end of the month and hopefully not have to endure wade for the stretch run.
Ah - hey we have 11 games left with them. Still control our own destiny! 5-game series at DET is going to be interesting. Let's just not **** the bed before then.
At this point I wish we didn't have so many games against DET since they are destroying all our WC competition. But maybe we take 4 out of 5 and start to dream. Yes it's unlikely. But so is everything else that's happened since the All Star break.
i don't remember the last time i watched a CHIEFS game and actually was that entertained. last night's game vs. the red sox was some awesome stuff. i'm really loving how we seem to pile the hits up game after game, so much more fun to watch than when we started off kinda hot in april.
