Let us consider Kennedy again.

Exiled to the bullpen. Gave up 2 hits in a 9th inning save opportunity when he was ahead in the count 0-2 on both hitters.

That signing is/was unforgivable, pathetic and sad.

Haven't you guys even re-watched Major League this season?

Pitchers have to start the season bad in order to be good later. Also, they need to get glasses.

We've still made great strides from last season.

We were over .500 for 4 days. Last year were were never over .500.

I feel like multiple people need to be fired in this organization, though I don't know which people. How the hell are there 3 first basemen on the roster?

Zimmer you’re making us all look bad

This is embarrassing 4 walks in a row 3 from Zimmer lmao

Already deciding to dress up as the royals bullpen for Halloween

Well that was quick. Starting 2-0 really got my hopes up for a middle of the pack season.

The key to bullpen success must be pitching while behind.

So we just need to have 9th inning, come from behind, walk off wins.

No problem.

2 homers for EE in the same inning lol

I’m already at 2018 levels of apathy with this team my god

yep.

Dayton and company have failed miserably since 2015. We still haven't developed a starting pitcher worth a damn since Greinke. Soler, the one big trade piece, hasn't amounted to jack squat. The band of bottom-of-the-barrel relief arms they've assembled could not be worse.

Thread won't get much more than 24 posts this year lol

Depends if someone comes in from out of town and needs recommendations for BBQ and where to stay.

Doubtful though... who's going to come see this team?

Went to the game last night (free tickets). I think they're going to replace the lost revenue from ticket sales with higher concession prices. Sure, peanuts and hot hogs were only a buck, but the soda to wash it down was $9.

This team is going to be historically bad, but we can still enjoy some of the bright spots...

Merrifield is the best second baseman we've had since Frank White. He's a good hitter, great baserunner and decent at defense.

Mondesi has a ton of potential. You can tell the difference in speed between him and Gordon from their attempts at triples last night. Mondesi was in easily where Gordon was out by 15 feet.

Gordon is hitting again. I think the reason he tried to stretch that double into a triple was a shot at going for the cycle.

Keller is pretty good. If he can get his walks down, he'll be dominant.

They walked our leadoff batter in 6 of 9 innings, one of them scored. Boxberger is horrible.

We have seven pitchers with an ERA of at least 9. When do we fire every pitching coach in the organization? We've had about two good pitchers since 2015. And traded one of them for the three clowns from San Diego who could never pitch a scoreless inning.

Cahill pitching well for the Angels. He could be vying alongside Homer Bailey and Keller for best royals pitcher lol

I think Strahm could be pretty useful league average type guy as either starter or pen guy with upside but esteury ruiz kid we traded was closing in on some top 100 lists last year too iirc...pretty disastrous trade for what those guys did for us in return but the trade never bothered me too much in that when we made the trade we were in second wild card iirc around all star break m and even with a mediocre roster I could understand ownership trying to get one last playoff run in with the core. Trade is gonna be real tough to swallow if Ruiz pans out.

Anyway this season has been really frustrating with the bullpen blowups but honestly taking a step back and realizing that losing is in our best interest and o Hearn is holding his own while dozier is really mashing the ball on all the Statcast metrics, mondesi is continuing to hit (albeit with a bad approach) , Merrifield is proving beyond all doubt there is no fluke , and even a miraculous Gordon dead cat bounce back with plate discipline gains so far. Keller continuing to show he can maybe be a solid league average starter (which i did not think was his median outcome personally)....things are actually going as well as anyone could have reasonably expected besides the bullpen collapses...and we were projected to have the worst pen in the majors by ZIPS I believe so not surprising

Keeping Goodwin would have been perhaps useful and I thought there was a chance junis takes a step forward but other than that things are pretty great on the offensive side of the ledger. Mondesi learning to take a walk would be nice since he is such a terror on base but overall I thought there was a good chance this team would be disastrous and it’s been fun for 2/3 of basically every game

Nothing is worse though than "trading" Jose Martinez for cash right after he batted .384 in Omaha for a full year. Turns out he can hit MLB pitching too. Who knew?
