we gave up a lot but i think you gotta be excited. i'm a smiff hater and in general we obv haven't drafted a qb who has won a goddamn game since 83 for us so they had their guy and they got him. i like it man! i will not even pretend to gaf about college football or know anything at all about him or his prospects but seems like he was number one qb for a lot of people in the know so can't hate on it. pretty excited i really didn't think they would do something like this. granted all of like 2 weeks ago it looked like he could have fell to us at 27 but his stock seemed to have gone up pretty quick and there were too many teams with qb need ahead of us

Once Trubinsky (sp) went off the board, the Chiefs figured the QBs were going to go early so they traded up.

I like this move. They gave up a low first and a low third this year and what will probably be a low first next year. Not bad if he turns out to be a franchise QB for the next 10 years. No need to rush him since we still have Smith so he can work in the system for a year and hopefully be the man next year.

Boom Bust > Smiff at this point, so yea I guess I am on board with it. I have no clue how good the actual qb they took is, but whatevs.

Thread needs a new title.

Prior to tonight I would have suggested, "Waiting for Smiff to retire", but not now.

"In Kareem We Trust"?

What a game!

I thought we were in for a long night when Hunt fumbled his first carry as a pro but he rebounded in a HUGE way. Great game for him.

Smith had a great game. Maybe all those short passes early led to opening up the longer throws late. He really threw some nice passes in the second half.

Hope that Hill isn't too badly hurt and the same for Berry.

Just saw Kareem's interview after the game. He might be my new favorite player on the Chiefs.

Hunt fumbles his first touch in the NFL, after never losing a fumble in college, then sets the all time yards from scrimmage record for an NFL debut.

That's some cray cray.

Early on there were like 3 first downs and an extra 3 yard run where I was missing u berry

Houston is the best combo i've seen at dominating his position against the run and rushing the qb. He is elite at establishing and holding the edge and shedding the blocks to get to the ball carrier. Then his pass rush is so manly, its pure disruption when he collapses and punches through the pocket

Watch out!

Keep hearing the comparison of Kareem hunt to Priest Holmes. Kinda feels lazy. That Holmes/Jonhson era offensive line/scheme allowed them to gash chunks of yardage before contact, then Green was tossing the ball down the field. I think Derek Alexander had a 1000yd season. Btw priest had 12 three touchdown games in about three and a half healthy seasons

Kareem is falling through tackles and staying upright the same way Charles would slither through gaps plant that foot and scoot forward. I've never seen a back take the hits with the style that Kareem is using. Not with his size and effectiveness. But damn that guys vision/ability to create the angles through the hole to shed tacklers and find daylight if f elite. Really hoping Kareem is unique and can make a career of this. Idk what to make of combine speeds cause he does not play slow at all, from the jump he's been creating breakaway plays.

Seems like this defense has kinda solved how to scheme and limit points in the red zone/short yardage situations for the past two and a half seasons. I'm surprised how they've looked the past two sans Berry, looking forward to AFC playoffs Pit, Tenn and Oak are big establish the run teams and pit/pats are teams that scheme for space that Berry is elite at getting to. Let's hope we play bal or buff and someone from AFC knocks out the pat/Pitt combo. Or Houston and our d line could just put Brady or Big baby Ben into retirement

We don't suck, but we're not great either.

We have a great group of skill position players, but our o-line sucks.

The defense is awful. Can't stop the run. Terrible cover guys outside of Peters who, apparently, can only play on the left side.

We'll make the playoffs because the rest of our division sucks, but will probably be one and done again.
