ya thats also a decently likely scenario, but with them winning and the steelers and ravens both losing, chances of an easier week 17 matchup def shot up
on another note, i think its time for a thread title change, im pretty tired of the regular J-E-T-S. any ideas?
I wonder what the climate is like on Revis island. I envision it as a sunny, tropical island with a prison in the middle of it for Moss, TO, Colston, etc.
Breaking down a couple of team's that stand in the Jets way for playoffs:
Broncos (Currently 5th seed: 8-4)
@ Indy
Oakland
@ Philly
KC
Obviously looks the closest. @ Indy should be a loss, INDY gets a first round BYE gaurenteed with a W this week. They should beat Oakland, although with Bruce @ QB they look better. Philly is a big game, both teams could be playing for playoffs. They look to be in the playoffs no problem.
Jaguars (Currently 6th seed: 7-5)
Miami
Indy
@ NE
@ Cleveland
Two losses from them puts them at 9-7, which would keep them out of playoff contention. Indy and NE look like those losses. So we should root for them this week against Miami, then two losses in a row. That puts Miami and them @ 7 losses a piece.
Ravens (IN THE HUNT: 6-6)
Detroit
Chicago
@ Pittsburgh
@ Oakland
As of right now, I am still assuming that 10-6 will get you in. We need them to lose one of the following. We hope it is a loss from any team not named the Steelers, then the Ravens beat the Steelers to put them to 7 losses also.
Miami (IN THE HUNT: 6-6)
@ Jacksonville
@ Tennessee
Houston
Pittsburgh
Hopefully Jacksonville beats them this week. If not, they still have 3 hard games coming. All of their opponents need to win out for any shot of the playoffs, so they have a difficult road.
Steelers (IN THE HUNT: 6-6)
@ Cleveland
Green Bay
Baltimore
@Miami
We have to hope for two things: Green Bay beats them in 2 weeks, or Baltimore losses a game before them, and then beats them. Or the same scenario with Miami. 3 hard games for them in the last 3 weeks.
Titans (IN THE HUNT: 5-7)
St. Louis
Miami
San Diego
@ Seattle
One loss from them takes them out. They should win STL and Seattle, so we are hoping for SD to beat them. SD could very well need a win for a first round BYE, so I expect that as the loss.
Texans (IN THE HUNT: 5-7)
Seattle
@ STL
Miami
NE
It comes down to the last 2 weeks. NE could possibly be playing for a first round BYE, so they could play hard, or even 3rd/4th seed.
And now...
JETS (IN THE HUNT: 6-6)
@ Tampa
Atlanta
Indy
@ Cincy
Tampa should be winnable. That run defense is terrible, stick to the gameplan Ryan. Atlanta does not look good, and with Turner/Ryan out the offense is bad. If playoff hopes are 100% out, they might not rush Ryan back or keep him out. That makes this game winnable.
Then it gets interesting. INDY could very well have 1st seed locked up, but be 14-0. Will they try for the undefeated season? If they do, expect Manning and co. to start. If not, we will see a lot of Sorgi. That is good news.
Then, we travel to Cincy. As of right now, Cincy and SD have the same record. If SD can blow one or two games though and the Bengals keep winning, and they have a first round BYE, they could rest Palmer and their starters. That would make this another winnable game.
Even though it looks slim, a lot of the teams in the hunt have hard schedules and very losable games. After doing that, my first reaction is it doesn't look as bad as we thought. It is very possible the final seed is 9-7
