Harris is a young LBer, who is perfect for the 3-4. He has a great NT in front of him, with a perfect LB right next to him. Seeing Harris in the pro bowl within a couple of years (yeah yeah probowls mean nothing) wouldn't surprise me. Him being first team wouldn't surprise me. Him being labeled as a top 5 3-4 ILB wouldn't surprise me. Guy is basically a magnet to the ball, always around it.

His pass coverage needs work, but it seems to have taken leaps and bounds from last year. I'm sure Ryan will be able to scheme it right, and I see Harris having a great year. I do not want to trade him for Marshall

I think WR > ILB. Even for a 3-4. Its close though. The OLB/CBs are the huge pieces in a 3-4. Now WR isn't a "huge" piece for the offense. Now if its just that you think this disgruntled WR will never get over himself, thats fine, I just think that Marshall's value is more to the Jets than Davis is.

I truly believe that once Marshall is traded, he will stop being a diva and be the stud he was last season and previous years. It's tough measuring up WR and LB. With the type of offense Ryan wants to install, it seems as if receivers are not neccesary, but having someone like Marshall would be devastating for opposing defenses.

But without Harris, what does the Jets defense do? We resort to have Gholston start, with a LB core of Ghost-Thomas-Scott-Pace. And these first four games, with no Pace, that defense doesn't look so good. Include that Ellis is suspended the first game, it wouldn't look good. Looking at the long term, it still is difficult.

A reciever like Marshall is hard to come by, and will be a number one on a team for the next 8 years. Same with Harris though. It SEEMS as if the LB position has been able to be band-aided for a year, unlike WR, which could add into the trade.

But a first AND Harris for Marshall? That's crazy talk, especially with the rumors of how stacked next years draft is going to be.

I think the Broncos are crazy for having such a steep asking price, teams know that the price will drop. The Jets should offer a 4th rounder that is conditional, and could turn into a first. I'm sure after production it would be a second or third, which is fine for the Broncos. They would be stacked up for next years draft, and be able to get solid players to build for the future.

Marshall is not guaranteed to stay after this year. People are overrating him as well. Don't get me wrong, he's a good WR, but not elite. He has benefited from:

-Having a good pass blocking O-line which gave him time to run his routes (which we don't have)
-A sick QB with a ridiculous arm that can avoid the pass rush to give Marshall time to get separation (which we don't have)
-Inflated stats due to a ****ty defense + thin RB corps that forced the offense to throw a lot (which we don't have)

He was 85th among WRs in DYAR and his catch rate was a pedestrian 57%.

On top of that, his "intangibles" left a lot to be desired. He apparently has trouble understanding McDaniel's complicated playbook. He also seems to beat women on a fairly regular basis. His legal troubles equity is too high.

id rather just look to draft a receiver in the early rounds next year. theres no need to address this immediately. this is most certainly not the time to bring a new guy in who needs to learn a new playbook, schotty's wont be any less complex than that of mcdaniels. but they arent trading harris so i doubt it happens

todays game:
-sanchez perfect against the eagles 2nd unit. not bad, but nothing to get too excited about. the media is going to be all over his dick non stop from here on out, brace yourselves.

-lol at this rookie jack simmons who's supposed to be a receiving TE, hes dropped sooo many catchable balls

-gholston appears to favor using his strength rather than speed in the pass rush, for those of you who cant stop analyzing him

-so much for britt davis being the sleeper. at least simmons gets his hands close to the ball, davis looks like hes expecting the ball to arrive a second later. not making the team.

-woodhead looks like the next wayne chrebet of this team. gotta have love for the scrappy undersized white guy

After watching the preseason games, I like where this team seems headed.

This season I do not expect the team to finish with a better record than 9-7 more likely 7-9 or 8-8. I do expect this team to stay competetive in every game they play. I do expect the team to lost a few 14-10 and 10-7 games.

All in all I like the direction of the team and feel the team needs a few more pieces before they can become an elite team in the NFL.

Just no way.

I know the jets have a need at WR, but I don't want to give up harris for this guy. Even if the crap he's pulling lately is because he's disgruntled, it doesn't explain his off the field problems, so I'm thinking he will continue to be a problem.

Isn't WR easier to address than LB, through the draft? Also, I like the core of LBs we have now, it hasn't been this good for years. I also think Marshall had good things going for him in denver with a better offense than ours.

We're not exactly loaded with picks to offer for him either, right?

Gotta love Woodhead making the team.
The team decided to carry four half backs and only one full back.

From everything I have read this appears to be the team we are taking to battle for the regular season.

One more week baby, can't wait. I can finally take my mind off of the cursed Mets and follow their counterpart in football the Jets. Although the Jets finally seem to be taking a better path lately than the Mets.

The Jets traded for Kevin O'Connell with the Detroit Lions, bringing our number of quarterbacks up to four. The Jets now have to make roster room for O'Connell, who's out?

Don't know if you guys follow twitter, but this is the breakdown in the last ~3 hours

Rhodes: 'Jet fans, be patient. big things are happening'
Mangold to Rhodes 'huh? text me and let me know'
(little bit later)
Rhodes: 'It should be soon. Im not joking get ready'
Mangold (about 30 minutes ago) "Ignorance is bliss. I want to share this secret but I know I can't. Further investigation needed, but its big'

Everyone on a jets forum I go to is speculating Clemens + draft picks (2nd? 4th?) for Marshall. Makes sense since we got O'Connell, and the FO loves Ainge

Sanchez, Ainge as backup O'Connell as 3rd string.

I would like that trade, would be awesome

Interesting rumor, and obviously the broncos have a need for a QB, hopefully the pick isn't a 2nd, but I guess it has to be something nice since we're not trading harris (at least I hope not).

Should I be concerned with the lack of picks upcoming or am I being paranoid?

I wonder if it's really Marshall? Maybe it's Crabtree. SF needs a QB.

Don't quote me on it, but isn't trading for Crabtree now impossible? Isn't there a time period after the draft in which unsigned rookies can be traded?

It has to be Marshall. Denver takes him off suspension. We trade for O'Connell. Rhodes/Mangold/and now Feely are talking about it.

I like the chances for Marshall. Remember, a lot of the Viking players knew about Favre before it broke. It could be like this (maybe Ryan goes to team leaders, ask how they feel about Marshall being brought in, etc)

so jetsblog thinks this may not be a coup for marshall at all, but that the jets had o connell as a top 75 player in the 08 draft. he was available for a 7th rounder, so they liked the available value
