I have to admit, I was pretty surprised (as I'm sure many of you Jets fans were) at how well Plaxico seemed to slide back into the NFL game like that. He showed a lot of his signature moves - the leap with his back to the DB catch + the fade grab in the EZ, which I guess are things a 6'5" receiver just never loses. It's early and durability will be a question, but the man can still play.

Why would durability be a question? outside of being arrested for the shooting incident in 2008 Plaxico missed something like 5 games in his 9 year NFL career

sanchez had 1 or 2 meh throws, but he played well considering there was no running game. granted it was the bengals, but when sanchez doesnt suck i always take it as a positive

i think i had the highest expectations for him of anyone itt, and he still exceeded them. he looks like he never missed any time at all

He looked very slow to me last night, maybe the O-line just run blocked that bad idk but he jsut didnt have any jump to him. Hoping for a big rebound year from Greene.

Is Brunell going to be the legit #2 or is McElroy playing his way into QB2? I don't think it matters much anyway, because if Sanchez goes down for any length of time we're screwed anyway ( see Brad Johnson wiht the 'Boys a couple of years ago). I know they want to keep Brunell because of his relationship with Sanchez so maybe they keep him this year just for that?

If the worst happened, I see far more value in sticking McElroy in there instead of Brunell.

They will prob keep Brunell around one more year just so his daughter can attend practices and other Jets functions.

I felt like that too, but really he doesn't , hes like the 54th man.... he may make it but only if he luck boxes and someones to injured/liability

actually hes probably got a very good shot. currently the depth chart at OLB looks like Pace/Thomas/Westerman. Maybins competition behind them is really only one guy, Garret McIntyre. both of them had decent preseasons, Maybin with 3 sacks, 4 qb hits, 3 pressures, and McIntyre with 2 sacks 1 qb hit 6 pressures. McIntyre is probably better against the run, but Maybin has the kind of speed off the edge that is extremely visible relative to the lack of it from the entire rest of the defense.

idk, the fact that Maybin has some 1st round worthy skills makes me def wanna keep him, even if McIntyre has had a more well rounded showing. The little I've seen of Maybin this preseason makes it easy to see that hes still very raw. Id like to see Rex try and get more out of him

Andre Gurode is visiting Pats today. I would have liked for the Jets to have made a run at him. He would ahve provided some much needed depth. I'd sacrifice McKnight to make roster spot for him if needed.

Well Maybin has made the 53 man roster for now. I am sure the waiver wire will be combed and teh bottom of the roster churned.

Dwight Lowery was traded to Jacksonville for a conditional draft pick, and the Jets traded an undisclosed conditional pick to Green Bay for Guard Caleb Schlauderaff. Converted LB Matt Kroul, trying to make team as an OL was released.
