It's nice to come up with a big play when needed instead of watching the other team do it against the Pack.
My thoughts indeed... Anyone else scratch their head a bit by going for 2 when they were up 15-14?

Pretty standard I thought. No difference between being up by 1 or 2, but being up by three means an ATL field goal will only tie (not win).

Yeah, 3Q is early, but I didn't think it was bad.

wasn't it like 4th and 12? i got no problem kicking there since Crosby has been so excellent in stadiums like that

It was like 4th and 4-5ish. It's a great call cause Crosby made it!

And apparently the Falcons are dirty

Quote:
"It’s unnecessary,” defensive end Ryan Pickett said. “They call it playing physical. But it’s after the whistle. It’s not physical. We know it watching tape that you they like to hit after the whistle. You have to watching yourself around the piles.

"They point at you if you react. We just felt like if we just punch them upfront at the start it would end that. It’s frustrating to a point, but we know we have to dominate them upfront inbetween that stuff.”

LB A.J. Hawk said that his reaction that led to an unnecessary roughness penalty came when he got pushed in the back after the whistle. He said he turned around to confront the offender and “the guy went to the ground.”

“I’m not that strong,” Hawk said. “I wish I was strong enough to do that.”

Raji was the sharpest critic.

"Great teams don't indulge in the kind of cheap stuff the Falcons do," Raji said. "We're the champions and we play that way. We walk away from the stuff they pull. These guys are coached to play after the whistle.

"I don't know what the deal is. I think it's a lack of talent on their part. We didn't worry about any of that. We came out and played our game."
Raji droppin' knowledge.

Bonneville mentioned it, but Lang didn't look good. His first bad game all season. I reallllllly want them to give So'oto a shot over Walden. And Bishop. He's so sick when he's in pursuit. Woodson was quiet; had two early missed tackles as well.

Hmmm, I thought they had like 4th-and-2 and got a penalty, guess I'm just misremembering it. I guess McCarthy thinks that Crosby is golden in a domed stadium. Guess the stats back that up.

For kicking to be correct in that spot Crosby would have to make the fg like 70% of the time.

IIRC the stats they showed last night correctly, Crosby has converted 94% of FGs inside a dome.

Who do you guys want to win tonight? I'd like to see the Bears win to give Detroit a division loss. I can't see the Bears being there with us at the end like I can Detroit with their offense. After tonight Detroit has two more home games vs San Fran and Atlanta and then at Denver before the bye. I think they could lose one of those and if they lose tonight they'd be 2 behind us with one more division loss, presuming we beat St Louis and Minnesota.

Want the Bears to win... ugh... so sick having to say that. Seeing as GB has already won in Chicago, and that Chicago should be little threat for competing for a playoff spot, doing as much damage as possible to Detroit is necessary.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Monday that LT Chad Clifton is out indefinitely with a "significant" hamstring injury.
It sounds like a tear. McCarthy confirmed Clifton "will be out weeks," as the Packers are apparently targeting a late-season return. Marshall Newhouse will be the interim left tackle, with Bryan Bulaga expected to stay on the right side. Rookie Derek Sherrod is now the swing tackle. Newhouse held up well after Clifton's injury in Week 5, though he'll have Jared Allen on the Week 6 slate

sigh, why is this happening again???

We all knew that Cliffy was getting old and needed to be replaced soon. Newhouse just steps up, as he has been, and becomes the new starting LT, ldo

I think the graphic said 97ish% last night. They also said he was crushing them from 60 yards out in warm up and didn't miss a single kick.

I think you have to go for 2 there. There are no guarantees another point will be scored the entire game, as unlikely as that might be (even if it was the first quarter I say go for it). You do what is going to put you in the best position to win, and that is based the on the CURRENT score, not a wait and see approach and hope everything works out in the 4th quarter.

I like aggressive McCarthy. I think he finally realized that with an offense this potent, traditional football "knowledge" does not apply. They might lose a game because of a bad INT, or leaving too much clock because they passed, but overall they are better off being aggressive.

Too many times in the past teams were able to luckbox wins against the Packers. By staying aggressive, they won't be in a position to be able to luckbox.

Yeah, if you put the ball in the hands of your best player and lose, so be it. To lose after playing conservative so you don't look bad though....

he shouldn't have to worry about looking bad anymore though. he's got a guaranteed job here for at least a few more years and perhaps many more unless the team severely underperforms. I understand that coaches don't take risks they should for "job security" purposes, but surely he can't worry about that now...

And Bulaga returned to practice. I expect Newhouse will cover Clifton this week. It's STL, so I'm not worried much about who lines up.
