Can we package BJones and Grant for a 3rd? Life would be so good.

I'm puzzled why Bush is still allowed to play defense.

The team announced Sunday that it has signed eight players to the practice squad --- WR Tori Gurley, WR Chastin West, WR Diondre Borel, QB Graham Harrell, OL Ray Dominguez, C Sampson Genus, CB Brandian Ross and RB Brandon Saine.

I bet half of that practice squad will be picked up by other teams. Those players are free to sign anywhere they want.

Teams have to want them first. If they were in high demand, a team would have put in a waiver claim. The players were also free to sign on with another team before agreeing to join the Packers practice squad after they cleared waivers. They could have even signed on with a PS on a different team if they wanted to for some reason before joining the Packers PS.

No Gordy

3 WR's seems pretty silly. Not quite sure how I feel about Borel. It's interesting that they completely gave up on McDonald and didn't even give him a PS spot. We definitely need another OL on the roster instead of Brad Jones.

West and/or Gurley seem pretty likely to get picked up after the wave of injuries in the first week or so of the season.

Would rather see Gordy here than Borel.

Some OL insurance with Dominguez and Genus here, but the Pack pretty much need to do something more. I expect one more announcement (hopefully big) very soon.

They are still like free agents with the season going forward. Only now if a team picks them up, they have to be put on the active roster.

So they aren't like free agents. After they cleared waivers, they were actually free agents but they chose to join our PS.

If a team wants to take a guy from our PS we have the option of offering him a spot on our active roster first. The overwhelming majority of guys stay with their team in that instance, so, if we really like one of these guys, we could put him on the 53 and cut someone else.

Having a guy on your PS is an advantage. Regardless, we haven't exactly lost any younger guys worth worrying about from our team when it comes to final cuts or from the PS with TT as the GM. If TT likes a young guy who needs some seasoning, he'll find a place for them on the 53.

You are correct. My point was just that teams can pick them up, only they have to activate them. Also correct is GB has first option to do that. If they opt to do that, it means they have to cut someone else. It isn't that they are magically protected. Someone isn't.

Agreed. But, I think he has the potential to become the best TE in the NFL. So, it would be nice to see him play 16+ games and see what he can really do.

Vic So'oto out for Week 1. Hurt back in weight room. While obviously not a "huge loss" or anything, it is disappointing. I wanted to see him in some real action. Looked like a serious playmaker in PS, but the proof starts now.
