I wonder what we could get for Grant? Fourth round pick maybe?

Unless a trade could be worked out I think the Packers keep Grant and he actually gets his share of PT. I saw that article and I respect Tom Silverstein's view. However, if the Packers cut Grant I'm almost certain the Lions would pick him up because they lost their 3rd round pick Leshoure for the year. Leshoure was slated to be their workhorse in the backfield as he had the size and speed to be that kind of back. Lions need a back like that and Grant would be great fit for them. I think Grant stays because the Packers do not want him going to a division rival at this time.

Grant isn't going anywhere. We guaranteed his contract back on August 9th. If we were going to cut him, it would have happened before we gave him his 1.25M roster bonus on July 28th. TT isn't the type to burn 1.25M of cap room and money like that.

omfg we all know how good the running game was last year and how great we ran all season wrt injuries, they better not even consider letting grant go.

Coach Mike McCarthy announced that T.J. Lang has won the Packers' left guard job.
Lang beat out No. 32 overall pick Derek Sherrod, whose mild knee sprain had nothing to do with the decision. "If you're talking about performance, T.J.'s performance grade was above Sherrod's," said McCarthy. The Packers boast one of the best and deepest offensive lines in the NFL. They will rarely need to keep Jermichael Finley in to block.
Quote:
Jermichael Finley admits that he's had a continuous case of the drops in Packers camp.
"I’ve missed more passes this training camp than I ever have," he said. "All it is is just knocking off the dust. It’s lack of focus too, relaxing on some passes. I just need to zone in and get back right." Finley went nine months without catching a pass from a Packers quarterback while rehabbing his knee. He'll see his most extensive action of the preseason this Friday night.
Also Cobb injured both knees and will probably miss the opener.

Bob McGinn made the same point Aytumious made in a blog post. I think the letting Grant go thing was just speculation on a slow news day.

Has anyone seen the superbowl champions' offensive line? It seems to be missing. I don't get it really, as we only lost Colledge who was the weakest link.

Defense seemed OK, but some of the coverage breakdowns were LOL bad. That Wayne TD was awful.

I did like that they played hard to the end. Nice to give Crosby some confidence with a 50-yd kick ftw!

We'll need to be much better in Lambeau vs the 'Aints.

Rodgers was just silly. Finley is going to be the focal point of the offense again. The O-line is depressing. Freeney dominated Clifton. The run blocking was pitiful as usual. Starks looks so much better than Grant ainec imo. Bishop is an animal. So'oto is making a strong push for a roster spot.

Tramon, Shields, and Collins didn't seem to be trying very hard. It's lolpreseason but it reminded me of Hanie's drive in the NFCCG to cut the lead to 21-14. They just didn't seem to be focus.

I don't mind the blown coverage on the Wayne touchdown too much. Burnett made the only mistake on the play...and he was just being overly aggressive. I'll take that over a timid scrub that consistently lets guys catch balls in front of him.

And again, Bush still has no ball skills. Literally none.

Is it just me or did Gordy look like he had a stick up his ass after he recovered the fumble (which was overturned)? He looked so awkward.

Bush is no better than Ahmad Carroll. He's lucky he is the special teams captain. He is a free agent next year thank god.

You will not be missed.

That was an awful play by Burnett. He ran up on the guy running a short route who was already being doubled and completely ignored his deep assignment. That kind of thing could get him benched in the regular season. There is basically no defense for it. I don't know what he could have been thinking.

It is only the preseason, but that just can't happen once the games start to count.

Packers cut Swain, guess it's not too surprising given the way West has been looking. They also cut Havner, which isn't a surprise to me because I really really couldn't see them cutting Quarless after he played pretty well last year.

Was just coming to post this. Swain cut. Spencer Havner and Theo Sherman also cut. Will be many more this week. Need to get down to 80 by 8/30.

we won last year in spite of our o line, itll be the same this year. while solid i think were schematically covering it up. Im not liking grant, he seems he cant choose a hole or find the cutback, but i dont have the same view he does.

our recievers are sick deep, sad to see any of them go. who thinks we keep all 5 TEs?

how do others think our Dlines looking?

We already cut havner. I really doubt we will keep 4 te and 6 wideouts.

Its kind of sad to see all these role-playing guys that got playing time due to injury go. Makes me realize how many guys contributed to that championship.

From what I've read Quarless is on the chopping block...surprising, I thought he played pretty well for us last year. Although he's just a poor man's Finley and we do need some blocking tight ends too.

lol Chiefs, lol Todd Haley...play their starters the whole game, lose to the Packers gazillionth-stringers

I'm really happy for So'oto...pretty cool to watch a bubble guy seize his opportunity and tear it up.

My best guess at the 53...bolded are virtual locks imo:

QB (3):
Godgers
Flynn

Harrell

RB (3):
Starks
Green

Grant

FB (2):
Kuhn
Johnson

WR (5):
Jeeeeennings
Driver
Jones
Nelson
Cobb

TE (4):
Finley
Williams

Taylor
Quarless

OT (4):
Clifton
Bulaga
Sherrod

Newhouse

OG/C (5):
Lang
Wells
Sitton

Dietrich-Smith
McDonald

DL (6):
Raji
Neal
Pickett
Wilson
Green

Wynn

OLB (5):
Matthews
Walden
Zombo

Jones
So'oto

ILB (4):
Bishop
Hawk
Smith

Francois

CB (6):
Williams
Woodson
GOAT ldo
House
Bush

Gordy

S (3):
Collins
Burnett
Peprah

ST (3):
Crosby
Masthay
Goode

I'm pretty sure Gordy barely meets the PS requirements, but I doubt he would make it through waivers. I really hope we keep him. Good riddance to Pat Lee and Brandon Underwood. Quinn Johnson is one that puzzles me. I like Nance a lot, but it seems with Grant taking a paycut and Ted guaranteeing his salary, his only shot to make the roster would be for Ted to trade Grant. Regardless of what happens to Grant, Starks will lead the team in rushing this year. As much as I like West, I don't see Ted keeping 6 WR's. Gurley is the only guy with a shot to crack the 6th WR spot imo. Though West has probably outplayed him at wideout, Gurley has a chance because of his size and ST ability. I don't think any of the backup safeties (besides Peprah) have shown enough to make it, but I could obviously be wrong. I think M.D. Jennings has the best shot of the group to crack the roster. Levine, Ross, and Jennings are all PS candidates. D.J. Smith is legit awesome. If he passes Francois on the depth chart, Francois could be on the chopping block. Brad Jones should be safe with Zombo's injury, but he could certainly be a “surprise” cut. Elmore has apparently looked like **** and might not even get a PS offer. McDonald might have blown his roster spot. I think there's a chance that Crabtree and Quarless get cut.

Lolz. I thought pack played tomorrow night. The box score is LOL. Flynn QB rating = 0.0. Only 19 attempts by all three QBs.

TBird - I think your 53 will be very close. I would like to see So'oto and Gordy, but I think Underwood makes the team. Hoping it's bye-bye Lee. (Shields = GOAT(?))

Chastin West didn't show up in tonight's box score. He seemed like one more guy (like So'oto) who was proving his worth. Not sure we can have 6 WRs on the team, but he'll likely be playing somewhere. Don't see Gurley making the team, even with his freakish wingspan and ST ability.

Depending on his recovery to date, there is some chance Zombo goes to IR. I think they carry him though, but you never know. Will be excited to see the final team soon.

Bring on the 'Aints.
