For the Vikings to have 0 penalties was BS, but GB was offsides on that play anyways so the pass int call is a worthless complaint. However, I'm not going to complain about the penalties not called bc there is a lot more that the Packers are doing wrong
The Vikings did have penalties. Maybe it is because they played alot cleaner, they weren't as sloppy, because they are all in all a better team. That is what better teams do. Commit less penalties, less turnovers, etc. The PI call on Woodson does make a difference even though there was an offside, because offside is a replay of down and half the distance (albeit the yardage isn't that big a difference here) but the PI makes it 1st down and at the 1.

Woodson did turn his receiver and the sad part about that is that I thought earlier I thought he got away with a hold, (oh refs missed one against GB) and he didn't even have to turn the receiver because he had position on his guy.

I am an official myself (federation, NCAA, CIFL, NAFL, MCFL) so I really pay attention to them when watching football (where they are positioned, their mechanics, etc.)

yeah i forgot there was another penalty on the play. but how does chillar get called for unsportsmanlike for getting pumped on a big tackle and jerold allen not get called for going onto the packers sideline and trying to start a fight with coaches as they were going to halftime. also the vikings held so many times it was ridiculous and it was bs they only had one called.

also why does deanna favre put me on life tilt?

Because Chillar was more than being pumped, he stood over his guy and said whatever he was jawjackin about. Honestly I do not remember what you are talking about when Allen went into our bench and tried starting a fight with our coaches. If that is what was happening, than he should have been penalized, but if GB's sideline was the one instigating, they probably more or less came over and just said go to your locker room, sort of things. Although we can see actions on TV, we don't always hear what is really going on.

I did witness GB holding and not get called and also thought Woodson got away with a hold prior to his PI call. Also, most GB's penalties were on special teams, which are usually holds or blocks in the back, which this night was the latter of the 2. Sometimes teams just play cleaner for whatever reason and remember officials are human too. There is 7 officials out there and 22 players. They can't always see everything.

She puts you on life tilt because anytime Favre does anything they have to show the booth and that is the most annoying thing ever!!!!!!! Yay you are a breast cancer survivor, so is my mother but what type of hype does she get. NONE!!!!!!!

Exactly! I swear they showed her like 15 times.

Also as for the Jared Allen play it wasn't shown on TV but one of the commentators said something like "someone better get Jared Allen away from the GB sideline, he's jawing with coaches over there"...and then nothing happened. Kind of doubt any coaches would instigate anything with a player.

Side question for you: It's been said holding can technically be called on every play. How do you determine how much to call it? Do you differentiate it when it's a big game vs. a small game (i.e. "let them play"), or is that just a myth the media indulges in.

No there isn't holding on every play. That is a myth. And holding is holding regardless of the game being super bowl or preseason. Basically, you can grab on the line but you have to stay inside or it will be called and if the guy beats you or he chases the play, you have to let go. Basically if the defender gets turned or you can see a handful of jersey getting pulled away from the player that is holding. don't get confused by a seal as defender getting turned as well.

Holding is going to get called more on passing plays than run plays because in essence the Lineman is attacking on runs and defending on passes.

Everything you just said there contradicts itself. As for holding being called on pass plays more than run plays, I would have to see some kind of proof of that. I would argue that on running plays the O line and the D line are both "attacking" with both players trying to move forward (for the most part) and therefore would cause more of a chance to hold. On a pass play, the O and D lineman both have an idea of where they are going, one to protect the pocket and the other to the QB in the pocket with the O lineman trying to mimmick the movements of the D lineman.

This is my first time in the Sporting Events section but had to post in this thread...Also just ordered a Jennings Jersey so the good luck should come soon..

http://jerseymall2008.com/

Dont know if this has been posted before in this forum but its a pretty good sight, I just ordered 3 jerseys so I will post about quality when I get them....But from other sites I hear they are usually very good quality and almost identical to authentic jerseys...

Tauscher signed

Good news if he has recovered from the surgery, anything is better than the o-line now.

Sick site plug

Time to get back on track, opening at almost a 2 TD favorite v. team who hasn't won in Lambeau in almost 2 decades. Bears & Vikings both with tough match ups so hopefully we can make up some ground the next 2 weeks before Favre-ageddon 2.

How come our team thread doesn't have a funny name like some of the others do? It should be subtitled, the train has left the station or something. Maybe Jonny Jolly Green Giant.

nice to beat the pants off teams we are supposed to but it would have been a lot nicer to actually have a nice clean game...shoulda been 48-0.

Agreed. Cannot really complain too much about a shutout, but there were still some ugly moments that can hopefully be corrected as the year goes on.

Yeah. Packers are also leading the league in sacks allowed. Although the line is partially to blame, this is the thing that Rodgers needs to work on the most, he takes way too many sacks even when he has plenty of time that are completely on him. I'd estimate about half the sacks this year are more his fault than the line's.

McCarthy has mentioned this and Aaron pretty much blew it off as "I'm just gonna play how I'm gonna play" -- so it is discouraging that he does not seem willing to work on this, but maybe he was just upset about McCarthy calling him out on it.

watching favre throw balls to the other team has made rodgers a little bit more careful.

its hardly a knock that the guy isnt winging it in to triple coverage everytime. last year he did a much better job of throwing the ball away, and this year hes taking a few more sacks. i dont think its as big of deal as people are making it out to be. we have a bad offensive line, we pass every down...did you think we werent going to give up any sacks?

there are a lot bigger things to be concerned with about this team than rodgers taking too many sacks.

3 weeks in between Vikings game and they go 2-0 winning by a combined score of 57-3. Granted it was against 2 of the worst teams in the league, but still 2 solid weeks.

I know it's early and only game #7, but the Vikings can all but wrap up the division next week. As if the game didn't have enough of hype.

Few thoughts watching the past couple games:

Kampman needs to rush the passer a lot more

A-Rod is really, really good when he gets protection

Pretty impressed with the run game at this point in the year. Grant isn't an elite back, but GB is a pass-oriented team and he's at least effective as long as he can stay healthy. Think he's averaged about 4.0 ypc every game minus the Cincy game, can't ask for much more.

The penalties are just beyond ridiculous at this point. Thankfully the last 2 opponents have been the Stafford/Johnson-less Lions and the worst team in the league, but wow. There were even several plays today that weren't called. I just don't understand how hard it is not to do dumb sh.t

I am as well. I only live a few blocks from lambeau. Tailgating up there though with the kid.

GP mclaughlin04 totally agree.

This next game will tell us if the last 2 were because of opponents or because we are who we thought they were.

Agreed. This game is pretty much a must-win if we want the division. Otherwise we'll have to settle for the wildcard.

I'm feeling a lot better about our chances than I did a couple weeks ago, but like you said, playing Detroit and Cleveland might have made us a bit over-confident. Should be a great game regardless.

Is it too soon to start drinking for this game?

Also I agree we need a subtitle and I like the TT one someone suggested.
