Well, at least Caldwell did have 3 winning seasons in Detroit, as many winning seasons they had in the 17 years prior, and he coached in a Superbowl. With that said, WTF?
Without doing a study or anything, unexciting retreads seem to have a much better track record than hot coordinators and college coaches. It would be hard for me to summon any enthusiasm for Pagano or Caldwell though.
1. Smart, driven untested coordinator or position coach that no one has heard of
2. High School Coach Who Never Punts
3. All the retread HC failures they have been interviewing
4. College head coach (seriously, has this ever worked well?)
I vaguely remember everyone thinking Caldwell was an idiot when he was coaching but I can't actually remember anything dumb he's ever done. He does have some legitimate NFL success as a head coach.
It seems pointless to try and evaluate any of the coordinators as a fan. I think McDaniels' unsuccessful stint in Denver is better than having no stint at all as a coach. I don't really care about the thing with the Colts.
I can't find the exact statistics I'm looking for, but Adam Gase appears to be a big fan of punting on fourth down.
Seems like it came down to either LaFleur or McDaniels. I would have taken either of them over having to see Caldwell's stupid ****ing 1000-yard stare during games. Pettine apparently staying.
Also we need the thread title changed to Fire LaFleur.
