It seems like a bad business decision too. He's 24 not 30. This isn't his last contract. He will suck in Oakland/Jacksonville and his next contract will be bad. If he stay with Rodgers, he'd probably end up making more money even taking a minor pay cut now.

I was talking to my Dad and we both agreed that if the Packers didn't sign Cobb and instead signed Suh, the Packers would win the super bowl. However, I'd rather not win a super bowl than have Suh win one. Additionally, having to watch ****ing Suh all season would kill me.

Are you guys really faulting a guy for chasing the money?

Seems like Cobb's value will never be higher than it is right now

So I guess every player, in every sport , should just chase every last dollar he can regardless? I'm all for guys getting paid what they're worth, but when your team offers 9, and you want 10, you're really going to move on from a sb contender to a ****show of a team?

In the NFL, I don't fault anyone for chasing every last dollar. It doesn't last long, get it while it's good.

Pretty sure Rodgers could make anyone look good out there at WR. Seems like an easy decision to let him go

Lol ok then. Good luck with that.

Eh, who knows what's happening. We'll find out in a few days. I could understand him going to some **** team if he and the Packers are pretty far apart, especially if the guaranteed money is big. NFL careers are short, gotta cash in while you can. For a million a year, though, I probably wouldn't leave Godgers. But hey, it's not my money.

Just resign him, we know the Packers aren't doing anything else in free agency.

Yeah if the Packers let Cobb go and have cap room left over it's horrible

No can't fault Cobb or the Packers. Cobb is a slot receiver who is good with YAC and at improvising when play is extended. Any team that signs him needs to have a QB that can extend plays with his legs and have decent WRs on the outside to get the most out of Cobb. Seattle paid up for Harvin, another slot receiver, so theire is a precedent for paying the slot receivers. Victor Cruz signed a deal for $8 million per year. Hard to believe anyone would pay Cobb the going price of a tagged WR. Hell if Cobb gets offered $12 million per by some other team then no way the Packers sign him, Packers could have tagged him for that amount and only been committed for a year. Good draft for WRs and Packers have other options. Adams may be able to play in the slot. Maybe Janis develops on the outside. Abbrederis was talked about as a slot receiver but he is coming off an ACL injury. Maybe they make a run at Julius Thomas as high production TE.

Bulaga is another guy they may have trouble signing. I think the Packers have a better chance to sign him though.

And the Packers will get a third round pick if Cobb signs a big deal.

Great news on Cobb, now let's get a deal done with Bulaga.

Sorry for jumping into the fan thread but I feel this deal it great for both. Cobb likely could have made more on the open market but he still got a great deal and with this deal he will hit the market again when hes 28 after another 4 yrs with rodgers and can easily cash in then.

So, resign Bulaga and we're pretty much at a perfect off-season, right? The draft feels like it would just be a bonus

Agreed.

If cost is the same, do we keep house or tramon? Go youth or veteran savvy? Or even neither?

I think the Packers will let both get to free agency to see what other teams are willing to pay. I prefer House.

Cobb is great. Now if they can just sign Bulaga this would be a phenomenal offseason.

Probably house. Will likely be cheaper and hasn't hit his peak. At 31 it's likely only downhill for Tramon.

nice.

that's about the most excitement the pack has had in the offseason/free agency in awhile

I would much rather have House over Tramon. Tramon doesn't tackle and he is nearing the end imo. House is a big body who can defend the big, physical WRs. If price is the same or close to the same I would prefer house.

Looks like House is signing with Jacksonville for $6.75M per year, I don't know how many years though. I would guess 4. I think this almost forces the Packers to re-sign Tramon Williams.

Supposedly Packers didn't want to give him as much guaranteed money as the Juagers did. Seems like a high price for him. This year the cap floor takes effect, Jaguars have a ton of money they have to spend so House benefits from that. Hell the Jaguars might sign Williams too.
