Right, there's no real "window" problems here. We have very-good-but-not-HOF receivers, no RB, mediocre line (and couple of the bright spots are very young), lots of good young defensive players. Elite young QB = solid team for lots of years.

Everyone retiring soon is replaceable (Woodson tough to replace, but he'll be around a while, and get phased out over 4-5 years as CB -> Safety)

im thinking of things differently than most here. i say window because i differentiate between super bowl talent runnable and deep playoff runable teams (think Mcnabb and eagles w/o TO). Yes i believe we have a wide open window to be a playoff team etc. yes scheme can over come some talent gaps, but im not high on mccarthys game management.

however, over the next 2-3 years most likely we will see:
1. RB problems (grants getting close to 28). Likely need to bring in at least 1 more RB (hopefully this year via trade?!) to try to make a franchise back
1a. RB problems because of OL
2. when people say woodson moves to safety i think this only happens if burnett doesn't develop, as he wont take collins place. before injury burnett was developing quite nicely for a 21 yo, hes 21, when youre talkingabout moving woodson to safety burnett could be just beginning his prime, thats quite a decision IF burnett continues development
3. AJ hawk will be traded/not resigned
4. Driver hits a physical wall
4a. james jones is being talked about as trade bait w/ CAR, leaving nelson to take over the #2, else we draft someone else, tho w/ finley its not that important.
5. Brad Jones/Frank zambo either develop or are upgraded via the draft.
6. after woodson moves onto (safety?!) we are left w/ tramon williams as a #1 cb. personally i think this is outside his capabilities as hes more fit for a #2 as last year he allowed a full 1yd/attempt more than all harris. given that and given the ceiling for sam shields, we need to acquire and develop 2 decent CB, if not 1 standout
7. Jenkins/Pickett age, depth needed
8. Bulaga develops, should be a safe pick but not a high cieling.
9. Tauscher continues his decline, an upgrade is needed via the draft (TT) along w/ development
10. Sitton/Wells need to have strogn camps as depth will push them, and can be over taken.

The most common thread here is development and with Driver/finley now the next 2 years offensively will be the peak as we seek the need to address teh OL/def. Given so much replacement and development/scheme knowledge needed i feel youre going to see a dropoff in overall year end status thru years 3-5 as talent collects/scheme becomes instinct. and thats hoping a lot of people live up to potential as they are drafted, brought in. I do like TT moderately and dont think this is beyond his capabilities.

And that is why i believe in hte 2-3yr window as super bowl elites

I'm going to Lambeau for the Dolphins game next week. I've never been to GB before, recommendations appreciated.

this applies to most people I think... K biggest tip for gameday, whatever you do DON'T TAKE THE LOMBARDI EXIT TO LAMBEAU! You will deal with hundreds and hundreds of cars on the Lombardi exit trying to get to the stadium vs going to next exit (Mason if traveling north).

Just went to the game this weekend

Lombardi exit? like 500 cars backed up

Mason exit? only behind 3 cars on the exit.

So if this applies to you or anyone else going to GB reading this, write this down. Hwy 41 to MASON exit, turn right on Oneida.

tip # 2. Don't go to the Packers Pro Shop on gameday, unless of course you like waiting in lines. And I'm not even talking about lines at the register, there are lines outside just to get in the place. If possible, go to the Pro Shop the day before.

tip #3. (for next time) You probably won't get a room at the Radison unless someone canceled, but if you stay there, its right down the street from Lambeau, and the players have their meetings there at like 7-8pm on Saturday (noon games) So if your into getting autographs or just seeing them up close or whatever go there. I got a **** ton of autographs there when I was a lot younger.

New rule, you have to prove you have a room to watch the players. My sister took her kids up with us last week for their first game, sat in the lobby for an hour talking to the security guard who failed to mention this rule, and as soon as the players started coming out he kicked them out. A-hole.

Yeah this. Although I would actually once on Mason, turn right on Taylor street. It is the first set of lights immediately when you enter Mason St. Then turn left on 9th St. (about 2 blocks up, you come to a 4 way stop) Take 9th to St. Agnes Dr. (one block past the 1st set of stop lights you come to, Military Ave.) then turn right on St. Agnes Dr. and follow that all the way until you get to Packer area parking.

how many ****ing times is mccarthy going to line up in a 3rd and 1 or 3rd and with a shot gun 4 wide or empty set when we actually have a decent threat of a run game (HAYNESWORTH ISNT PLAYING TODAY) and try 15 yard pass plays???????

I just don't know how McCarthy still has a job. Atrocious playcalling kept the Redskins in the game. The above poster is correct. McCarthy ran toss sweeps and when 5 wide on two key 2nd and 1s. Missed tackles, too many penalties, and now all these injuries. The Packers might be better off tanking the season so McCarthy gets fired and they hire Bill Cowher. Cowher might actually try to run straight ahead with a 2nd and 1 on the 1 yard line.

mccarthys a ****ing idiot, not calling the TO before the FG, all the wash center had to do was start snapping and they get an automatic 1st

4/5 of our games we let the other team hang around and they came down to the last minute. McCarthy just needs to be fired. There are too many penalties and the playcalling today was awful.

So Rodgers got a concussion on that last hit per Greg Bedard's twitter. The injuries are just ridiculous.

Could it get any worse?

Rodgers
Grant
Finley/Lee
Tauscher

Collins?????
Burnett/Bigby
Matthews/Barnett/Chillar
Pickett
Harris/Shields

That is 11 of the Packers starters. So fked cause most people would agree, best team in the NFL if healthy.

wat? McCarthy was hired by TT!!!

I have no problem with TT, this team's in a pretty great position moving forward. He's done a good job at drafting* and getting younger, and this team can be viable for the next 5-10 years. Not his fault that like 15 guys are hurt.

I wouldn't be sad if McCarthy got the boot though.

*Harrell the big exception, obviously

was at the gym and some things seemed obvious by the talk:
1. Tauscher/ Clifton seem to have hit the Tackle Wall and are disintigrating in front of our eyes. Clifton was getting burned on more than a few occasions later in the game
2. Woodson may be declining faster than most expected as his PI penalties for hooking (seem to?!) have increased which could be a sign of age depleting his talent. (move to safety this year?!)
3. Is it possible theres something to do w/ the equipment? i know the nfl is taking concussions much more seriously so they get more publicity but in the pre season a lot of helmets were coming off b/c no one was putting air in them.
4. Mike Neal is starting to make a name for himself (TT 2010 rd 2 pick)
5. Bulaga seemed to hold his own fine on the right side against the left end. there was a false start penalty (maybe a few missed holds and he seemed to hook as they passed)
6. I was liking morgan burnett's progress before his injury

also on a sadder note--DeAngelo Williams is no longer on the trading block, Carolina is not trading any of their backs.

pray to god james starks is the steal of the draft in the 6th round cuz he sat out a season

Yeah, he looked good from what I saw. Raw, but all over the place. I thought Peprah had a pretty good game against the Redskins in his place.

I knew Clay was awesome, but I didn't know how much our defense would suffer without him. McNabb was CONSTANTLY under pressure in the 1st half; as soon as Matthews went out, the pressure mostly stopped.

Being at the game, here are some of the big things I noticed:

Martin got burned - A LOT. McNabb was picking on him all game, and I finally understand why Capers doesn't blitz when he's back there.

The Packers have ZERO players that can get ANY pressure on the QB on a 3 or 4 man rush, beside Matthews.

The NFL refs either have a hard on for Favre or HATE Rodgers. How many facemasks/head shots does Rodgers have to take to get one called? Rodgers takes a helmet to helmet hit on the INT, no call.

MM is a total IDIOT. He needs to hand off play calling to someone else, because he does not know what the hell is he doing. Brandon Jackson, taking out the 70+ yard run, still averaged over 5.0 yards per carry. WHY DO YOU TRY TO FIT A SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE!?!

The entire process of the 4th and goal stand at the 1:

1) Why the hell are you trying a toss from the 1?
2) Why did you not challenge either 2nd or 3rd attempts? Jumbotron definitely showed that he could/was in. I don't care with the bull**** reasoning of "Oh, we'll get in from the one, anyway." No. You challenge that **** because stuff like that does happen.
3)Why do you go for it on 4th down and not take the 3? Making it a 2 possession game on the road? Take the points and run, don't be greedy.
4) Why did Kuhn, the guy you've got to run it up the middle for the yard or two, never see the ball on that possession?
5) Why did McCarthy feel the need to put Rodgers in danger with a QB sneak not once, but twice?

Woodson looked good most of the day, and I thought that PI call was pretty BS, with what the refs let people get away with all game.

Bulaga looked pretty good, saying he only got a few days of practice at RT. Clifton, on the other hand, is TERRIBLE. Need to put Bulaga in there ASAP and get Lang at RT.
