I'd love to Shields learn to field kicks and punts. Definitely the fastest guy on the roster. I wouldn't be surprised they teach him during practice this season....and then give him another shot at returner later this season.

Nelson is mediocre returning, but dependable at least

Bump for 1-0

Also, I couldn't tell which it was: Jordy unusually good on KR or terrible coverage by the iggles?

There was absolutely 0 skill in returning those kicks, I never saw him make even a subtle move, he just ran through wide open holes every time.

He also got caught from behind 3 times(at least), if that was Shields, that is 3 TDs.

Could have put the game away early if the defense could catch.

why do the pack have a white guy returning kicks?

good to see crosby hit 2 long field goals. solid road win.

Not too impressed w/ effort as a whole today, but a road win's a road win. Gonna destroy Bills next week, hopefully good tuneup for winning in Chicago.

good road win against a team that always plays us tough and we never win against on the road....that was a huge win.

Rodgers having a terrible game (Rodgers said it was one of his worst ever)
Losing Grant in the first half
Playing against a QB that was very minimally game planned for
On the road against a playoff team, in Philly (seriously, we never win in Philly)

All of that, and GB still puts up 27 points and gets a W.

GB "SHOULD" go 4-0, at least, to start now.

vs. Bills
@ Chicago
vs. Detroit

Good games to get any kinks worked out.

@ Chicago is going to be a tough game, even if the Bears suck.

Harrell's out for the year (surprise surprise!) with a torn ACL. Grant's out next week but will likely return against Chicago.

Packers looked good overall. Some first game sloppiness is to be expected.

I'm not nearly as sad about Kolb getting knocked out as I still am about Bryce Paup killing Randall's ACL in '91 when the Eagles had a sick D

Ryan Grant done for Season.

****. I don't think the downgrade to Jackson is very big, but afaik there's noone left if he gets banged up.

GB can get by with Jackson. As you said, the drop off is minimal. However, we started the year with only 2 RB's on the roster; with only Jackson, now, we can't afford ANY injury at RB.

Should pick up a RB or two in next year's draft. Too thin, even if Grant comes back 100%. Don't need any elite talent, just a mid-rounder or two.

I think Lynch would be an okay fit. He has more raw talent than Jackson (or Grant, for that matter), and Rodgers endorsed the move w/ some knowledge of his personality.

Brag: Get GB game on TV instead of the lame national MIN/MIA game. Not sure why, maybe the Chico affiliate is picking up more Pack games because of ARod connection? A+ if so, imo.

would have liked to see a cleaner win, 1st half was way too rough. seems like they were just insisting on seeing if they could run the football, and they just couldnt.

Yeah, this team can't run the ball worth a ****. Was pretty apparent in preseason when the 1st team was "Grant for 1, Grant for 2, Rodgers for 30" over and over. Jackson's a perfectly good back, but Grant's a better pure rusher.

On the other hand, I don't think that really matters. Just let Rodgers throw 5 yard passes to Finley and Jackson when we have a lead late. Or go '07Pats and run the score up on everyone.

Matthews might have a real shot at the sack record this year. NFC North OLs are a joke and Clay is a beast. Can't wait for Bears game Monday, important to take the wind out of their sails imo. 5+ sacks, 15+ hits on Cutlahhh, 3 20+ yard TD passes from Rodgers, gogogo.

Meh, it wasn't terrible. First 2 drives settling for field goals was disappointing. But they have improved dramatically in the 2nd half of both games and that's encouraging to see.

new here but packer die hard---

i hated how the first 2 series we went SG/empt back inside the 5 especially v buffalo. at least keep the threat of the run game there. the run game doesnt need to be that effective as long as the threat of it is. Buffalo's secondary>run defense.

also i may be too new age for mccarthy, but if were going to run SG there instead of SB, id be more a proponent of the pistol (as nevada runs it)as it enhances rungame (threat)

also in general more WR screens should/need to be called to get jones/nelson/jennings into space ESPECIALLY v a cover 2 scheme like chi as our zone plays will be eaten alive

also, i actually think grants injury shoudl do wonders for mccarthy's 4th quarter play calling w/ leads, letting rodgers be more aggressive. note the difference between philly and buff games. w/ philly run/pass was 7/4 in hte 4th and our O line was eaten alive (run blocking) by a decent dline. i am highly suspect of our o line RB capabilities agaisnt slightly better d lines/LBs. and i would like to see both finley and lee lline up/chip more de's

and i didnt see any adjustments to keep an extra TE in like Lee to help blocking or using jackson to chip/cover outside pressure. we have to face it that the Oline is aging and loses a step. theyve tried to compensate by 5 wide looking for matchups. i would counter that only puts more pressure on the O line if the wrs are jammed like in cover 2 scheme

- i would have insta taken the safety after stopping them on 4th+goal, by punting youre actually only giving them the ball back at best with 40-50yards to go, 15 for a FG they have a dynamic returner while their offense was struggling. spot them 2 and put them back at their own 35. not to mention how wrong it is to turn the ball over passing there, w/ no running game.

- i would have also insta given them the TD after the interference call---no excuse to let them have it as a tie or win w/o a shot

defensively im fine w/ the penalties actually. zambos was aggresive trying to sack cutler, had his hands up before the play but he lead w/ the helmet, thatll come w/ reps (obv sucks nOW), woodsons PI was a good one, burnetts penalty, it looked like he was trying to turn himself around but momentums collided and hte rest we say is physics

offensively i think we ran 1 swing pass, WR screens were meant to counter the cover 2, i really think they need to be added to the scheme and get livid everytime i see them open
