All the talk about the play calling and offense is whatever to me because it isn't near the biggest problem. The defense has been an abortion for what seems like years now. They let kap look like a hall of famer They will never be able to stop a power team, unless they make some serious changes. If I was Rodgers I would leave this team and go win 10 superbowls in a row anywhere else. Truly is a 1 manned team.

hey guys just wanted to congratulate the packers on a great season!

making the divisional round of the playoffs is an accomplishment you can hang your hat on for years to come. that's an entire week further than the vikings made it and two weeks longer than the bears made it, super impressive all around.

rodgers had a near MVP level season and mike mccarthy should def be in the conversation for coach of the year.

congrats guys.

Wasn't your D really elite during that run? I think they were 2nd in the league that year.

regardless of the offensive game plan, the defense is the biggest problems. how capers doesnt make adjustments either is baffling.

not going for it on 4th and 4 when your defense hasnt been able to get off the field all day is awful.

it doesnt shock me that this team is as frustrating as it was 4 years ago. mccarthy.

yeah they were. i just meant it was more completely baffling how ill prepared the defense looked for kaep's scrambling ability given that it should've been a priority.

Packers 'D' has changed a lot from 2010-11 team. Collins gone, Bishop on IR, Peprah gone (not that Packers miss him), Cullen Jenkins gone. Complementary players who really stepped up that year Howard Green and Frank Zombie are gone/DNP. Charles Woodson isn't the player now that he was then, Tramon Williams had a great play-off run, IIRC got a big contract that year and hasn't been the same player since. AJ Hawk had his best season by far in a contract year.

The current Packers D is undisciplined. Scheme was certainly part of the problem against the 49ers. At least make Kaepernick break a tackle. The Packers O line gas changed a lot since 2010-11. I don't see how the Packers fill all the holes next year but stranger things have happened.

What's nuts is that if just a couple plays that easily could've broke the Packers' way did so in the first half, the entire second half could've been different. Fumbled punt up 14-7, just keep Kaep from gaining one extra yard on some scramble, if Woodson doesn't vacate the middle on the TD pass after the muffed punt...

Packers had a fantastic shot at going into half up 10 or 14 and then who knows?

As much as I can't stand McCarthy's in-game management, I'm still wary of canning him, as I mentioned a little while back. I think he's a fantastic developer of offensive talent and overall, I think he gameplans on the offensive side of the ball very well. It's like when the lights turn on, though, he loses 80 IQ points.

I'm more concerned with Capers, as while I don't think we have the most talented defense in the world, I think there was enough there to at least be average. At the same time, though, firing guys for the sake of firing them is very dangerous. I want to feel confident that someone they bring in can actually do a better job.

Seeing as the last drop has occurred, I propose we brainstorm title changes:

1.) The Bears Still Suck; or
2.) Fire Capers!

McCarthy is Andy Reid. Let him coach from Monday to Saturday because he gets dumb when the game starts.

Driver is retiring.
for a long time, he was my second favorite player. Then I realized Favre was a bit of an ass and it made me see the light. the model franchise player. Ending his career on the team that drafted him, after so long, is really cool too. I became a fan around 1998, and I remember always throwing to Driver as the 5th WR rookie in Madden 2000. it was awesome to see his career progress into one of the best possession receivers and teammates in the league.

Retire his jersey tomorrow,

Clay Matthews and the Packers agree to a 5 year extension. Looks to be about ~13M per year.

Just need to get Rodgers signed now

Honestly that seems a little steep for Matthews. They're going to be paying two guys almost 40 million a year. Yikes.

He could have gotten more on the open market, imo

I'm sure ted structured his contract so the cap hit won't absolutely **** us over (at least not to the point where we can't sign Rodgers and a few other guys)

I didn't realize the cap was like 127, thought it was like 85 or something. Meh, idk. Hopefully the Rodgers and Matthews deals will be structured favorably.
