Green Bay Packers - Fire the ESTABLISHMENT

works too imo

It is so frustrating. It feels like they can only win when they are clearly the better team and talent gonna talent. Any time they are playing a team with a similar talent level they lose because the coaches are idiots.

After AP gashed them for 400 yards in 2 games Capers finally adjusted. He didn't adjust all night. He just left the middle of the field wide open. I know this is a blitzing man to man type defense but when the guy is just waiting for the pass rush to go up the field and running right up the middle all through the 1st half you'd think he'd leave a spy there or something. He did nothing.

You have Aaron Rodgers with a WR core that includes Nelson, Jennings, Jones, and Cobb, with a side of WOATley if you want to get that route.

Lets send out Ross and Tom Crabtree as the primary reciever/TE tho

Or do some establishment!

Or run play action while down 14 and everyone knows there is no chance in hell you're running the ball.

or punt while down 14 with a defense that hasn't stopped anyone!

or constantly defer coin tosses so we're behind to start every game because the defense can't stop ****!

Or throw a challenge flag when it's going to be automatically reviewed!

And what was Ross even doing as punt/kick returner? And this was after McCarthy said there'd be no change! You were up 14-7 and gifted them 7 points. Cobb would have known not to try to field a punt at the 5 yard line but instead you put an inexperienced returner out there in the biggest game of the year.

Yeah, this was pretty LOL.

McCarthy sticks with Crosby all year, then changes his mind when he said that playing scared with Cobb is terrible and putts Ross out there?

wat

Someone cut off McCarthy's balls at some point during the season

It's much easier to stop AP at home with Webb at QB than with Ponder--did he really solve much or he solved a much simpler problem. With the 9ers you had to stop Gore, CK, and Crab all day. Our OL is pretty good as well. Would be hilarious if you guys fired McCarthy but the guy does suck.

With that being said, you guys still have Godgers. Fix the coaching and get all the injured guys back and you'll always be pretty legit.

It's starting to feel like when Favre was here.

Godgers will will us into the playoffs year after year, but coaching (instead of Favre's boneheaded idiocy) will be our downfall every year.

The Packers shouldn't be "pretty legit" that's the whole freaking problem.

They have one of the greatest QBs of all time which is the most important position in this entire sport. And they not only continue to blow his talent with god awful defense but the awful offensive play calling as well. I feel so bad for him.

They're not going to fire McCarthy. He'll make the playoffs every year and he's won a SB. About the best we can hope for is they change up the defense and McCarthy steps down as playcaller. I don't think anybody else can be worse at calling plays. Let Godgers do it. And give the red challenge flag to Godgers as well.

it pained me to find this because I had to wade through some of my past support for

Favre but here goes, from August 2008

, and let me add: McCarthy is the second worst coach I've ever had the displeasure to watch (and that's only because I live and Chicago and am old enough to remember the Wandstedt years). Mike Sherman may have hired **** for coordinators and called a shovel pass every 5th play, but at least he led his teams with coaching talent. All McCarthy has been able to do is allow a young team to 1st) underachieve in going 8-8 in 2006 and 2nd) outcoach (actually, no - just not coach) himself in the Packers' most important game of the last 10 years. I have literally never seen him make a smart challenge and he acts like he's a bona fide ******. He's afraid to take the risks that make coaches great (see: Belichik), and the risks he takes are just stupid.

Of course it probably wouldn't have mattered. But you give your team a chance to win. Punting down by 14 in that spot? I don't know. It is completely unjustifiable. Chilly goes for it there.

This is the 2nd straight year we've been carved up in the playoffs with this offensive strategy:

1. Because the Packers front-6 ('cause they won't put 7 or 8 in the box LOL!) follows the O-Line;
2. Send our O-Line one way;
3. Send the ball the other way;
4. ?????
5. Profit

I really didn't have much belief the Pack would win this game, and I'm still really bummed.

It isn't even this game. It's that two years ago, there was a clear dynasty building. What was on the payroll was that to threaten all chances of any team winning a Super Bowl over the next two or three years.

Now, it's been two years. Last year, the Pack weren't even the 2nd-biggest threat to the team that won the Super Bowl; and this year could mean the same thing if Seattle wins tomorrow and SF takes it all.

Sure, NFL dynasties are insane-tough; just ask the Pats. But when teams have beaten the Pats over this stretch of not winning a Super Bowl, those teams have more likely than not had their best competition against the Pats. The last two teams to beat the Packers won't say that. And it's sad. Really sad. Because this team has been elite in its personnel management (on the field).

McCarthy isn't the problem. He doesn't have the balls to fire incompetence (see: Dom Capers, Mason Crosby, and Jermichael Finley); but that incompetence has come from people with reasonably high expectations and keep coming short. It's time to clear house -- not on those who've produced -- but on the "wait and see" people from whom we keep hoping that constantly disappoint. The salary cap ain't gettin' much bigger.

mccarthy is most certainly some of the problem. i'll agree with anyone that says we probably underrate the importance of off the field stuff, developing talent, etc. that mccarthy is presumably above average at, but man this one really ****ing hurt tonight. this team deserves better.

If McCarthy is to stick around, AT THE VERY LEAST, someone needs to take playcalling out of his hands.

I cannot recall a worse defensive gameplan in the NFL ever. Yeah, let's blitz seven guys against the agile running QB on 3rd and 10. Think I saw a QB spy maybe once? Brad Jones is hilariously slow and he was chasing Kaep all over the field. Capers got his ass completely handed to him
