Zimmerman contract much worse. As poor a season as Miggy is having he was still leading MLB in batting average w RISP as of a few days ago at like .430.

I don’t think they’ll be significantly worse next year since half of the guys playing right now could be replaced by random AAA scrubs with zero drop off.

There are is no young superstar whom you could build a team around. Fulmer is the only player left who could still be above average in 5 years, but he will only play every 4th game.

Comerica park is ugly. Green is hideous against the team colors; the seats down the line are at improper angles.

Solid debut by Jake Rogers. Would be swell if he can hit enough to be a piece they can build around.

How in the world can they DFA Rosenthal? The guy is throwing easy 100. Why not release the pitching coach for being unable to help him - and the rest of the staff for the entire season - and bring back Bosio?

Let me put it this way: Zimmerman can throw strikes, but he can never learn to throw 100. Rosenthal can throw 100 and he has a realistic chance to fix this mechanical problem. There are many things that he can try. Move to one side of rubber, start with your hands higher or lower, whatever. There are tons of variables. You just don't DFA the guy with the best arm on the roster after 9 innings pitched and nothing to lose.

Easily. He has zero control and that isn’t easily fixed. He’s a waste of a roster spot since he’s not under contract afaik beyond this year and he probably declined a demotion to Toledo even if he had options left. And LOL at the idea of bringing back Bosio. Do you really not remember why he got canned?

His "zero control" is actually only about 2-3 inches off. You could have him throw right down the middle. Natural wildness should make him hit corners. If he leaves one in the middle, it's still 100, so there is a margin of error. If that doesn't work you have him throw it at the catchers kneecaps, shinguards and so on. Then you move him to one side to the rubber, you can change his stance, change his hand position and many variables. You could even try a different glove (lighter, heavier, bigger, smaller). I am sure it can be fixed, because we are not talking amateurs here. The pitching coach gets paid to fix it, so he better does his job.

For the record: Rosenthal left the game with 2 outs and no runs scored. His ERA got inflated by Hardy.

About Bosio, sure I remember and I don't care. There is no crying in baseball. As a head coach I give a f*** about people's feelings. If someone can't take the heat, he can pack his bags and leave. Professional baseball is all about winning. There is no safe room whatsoever. If you got a problem with a guy, settle it like a man.

There are times in baseball where you have to be able to throw a strike. Rosenthal didn't pitch like he could. I'm sure I didn't see every appearance but I did see several and each one left me wondering why the **** any hitter would ever swing the bat. Why carry a pitcher on your roster who you cannot use in anything other than a zero leverage situation (unless it's a Rule 5 guy making peanuts and under team control)? Rosenthal is a waste of space.

If nobody claims him maybe he agrees to go to Toledo and work on things. Juan Nieves got some good press lately for his efforts with Matt Hall.

As for Bosio, yeah, what a great guy.

Unless he is diagnosed with Steve Sax Syndrome I regard the issue as fixable. I carry Rosenthal, because it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if we lose 110 or 125 this season, actually the more the better, because it guarantees the first draft pick.

If nobody claims it, the mistake stays under the curtain, but you can bet that someone will. You don't let a 100mph pitcher go and you should pick one up if you get the chance.

About Bosio I give you a point, he should have done a better job at pitch selection. Throwing a screwball at a guy named Derrell Coleman II clearly wasn't his best play in the situation. You don't fall into such an obvious trap and provide a "clubhouse attendant" the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to file a lawsuit on a silver plate.

It was great seeing Miggy leg out a double on a ball in the gap last night.

It was less great seeing him try to score from 2B on a sharply hit single, he was only out by 30 feet.

If Dave Clark sent him that would be considered professional malpractice.
