I think Ausmus is a decent manager, probably above average and definitely better than whoever they'd get to replace him, but...... why the **** does Aviles ever need to be in a non-blowout game unless someone's injured? I think he's passable as an infielder, but he's abominable as an outfielder and is seriously in the running for worst hitter in the league.

**** this, "he needs consistent at-bats," ****. Why? How much better is he going to hit with more ABs? Is 350 ABs hitting .230 (55 wRC+) better than 150 ABs hitting .220 (51 wRC+)?

Sparky had nothing of that and was way better. You can't find your manager with dragnet investigation and it only shows that they don't know what they are doing. Anyways, last night was a great example on why stats don't tell the whole story. Anibal pitched a very decent game, but Rondon allowed 2 of his runners to score. Rondon on the other hand didn't get the called strike 3 and gave up a 2-run single on the next pitch. If everyone had done his job right - including the umpire - the stats would and should have been a lot different.

Catchers often make good managers--better than other positions, and by all accounts Brad always wanted to learn from his managers why they were doing certain things, not just stand in the outfield and count dandelions.

Many years of playing experience doesn't necessarily translate into being a good manager, but it's not a strike against him, either.

"Handsome" is just dumb. Just because you're shallow and mildly attracted to him, don't project that on everyone else. If you think handsome fits some pattern, find me the last "handsome" Tigers manager.

"Jewish" is absurd and small-minded. Ausmus went to a prestigious school and nobody who talks to the man says he isn't smart. Again, if you think this fits some sort of pattern demonstrate the organization's pattern of hiring Jewish managers because they think they're smarter.

Ausmus may very well be able to read some Dartmouth text books, but the guy being "smart", I think is completely debatable. The problem with baseball these days is that it is a multi-million-dollar-business and it stays like that even if the quality is low and if there is incompetence all over the place. In other words, there will always be some sport-journalists or other "experts" telling you - the fan - that what you see on the screen is AWESOME!!!!! They do it, because they get paid for it.

In reality you see a surferboy from California trying to coach a team of some fatass veteran steroid bombers, some Adderall-boys, a bunch of scrubs and a another surferboy who wants to play utilityman, but unfortunately can't hit a baseball. In addition to that they have an idiot in the front office, who is the son of some dude (no other qualification), and was part of the gang that ripped off the owners in Miami. Now he is ripping off the owner in Detroit by giving hundred-million-dollar long term contracts to PED-cheaters, who stop taking the juice as soon as the ink is dry, because they don't need to risk getting busted anymore.

You are free to believe whatever you want. You can believe advertisement, media, the press, whatever. You can even believe that the Emperor is wearing clothes. I don't care. If it wasn't for guys like Kinsler, Iglesias and Fulmer, I wouldn't even watch this team anymore. This doesn't change the fact that I am a lifetime Tigers fan. I just hate what I see right now.
