I know he is crushing but every inning he pitches right now is an inning he doesn't pitch in September/October.

Also wouldnt a better way to figure out whats best for Porcello is to just keep him at/under 85 pitches everytime he goes out? I think thatd be a better way to look at it then innings pitched.

I think it's pretty standard to use innings pitched as a gauge for a young pitcher. I always see stats where "Young Pitcher 1" has never pitched above "X" innings in his career.

Yeah, I'm sure they have an inning limit on Porcello for the regular season. I doubt they let him go over it under any circumstances. I doubt they do the same for a total pitch count.

IP would obviously be a way easier tool to measure it by....but total pitches would be far more effective imo.

I'm sure it would be more effective. Total pitches really wouldn't be much harder, the stat is kept and addition is easy imo. I just don't think there's an established season total that's considered "acceptable" for young pitchers. That's the difference. Maybe 5-10 years from now, teams will be using it. But they don't right now.

if Zumaya comes back and is healthy, our bullpen has a shot at being very very good.

Our bullpen has been pretty stellar imo (3.45 ERA). A good zumaya would only improve that. Basically we'd have three guys who can pop 96+, two tactical lefties and Lyon.

I think the guy who goes down is Rincon.

Yeah, Rincon definitely gets sent down.

T-Minus 11hrs until gametime. Our roation sets up great for this series with Galaragga/Verlander/Jackson on the hill. Only question is do we sweep or just take 2 of 3 from the Angels.
