This is pretty bleak. The Indians are the best team in the division and they don't have a single good corner outfielder OR infielder. Yes, the Tigers suck, but they are simply not THAT bad.

The Indians' rotation is not good by any stretch of the imagination, but we have a ton of #4 or #5-type guys in AAA ready to do battle and not embarrass the team out there.

The Tigers have Dontrelle Willis - who probably couldn't get drafted at this point - and a 20 year old phenom whose development is probably permanently ****ed because of Dombrowski's inability to plan for the future. It's like if Brandon Morrow had never gone to college but the Mariners stuck him in the big leagues a year into his development

cliff notes:

The Tigers suck

it's cool to have hope right now, but looking at the starting rotation, it's dreary.

i guess if JV and bondo have good years, and AG and Jackson can be ok, we still need someone like Robertson to pitch well and go 500

even if we get decent pitching, our lineup sucks balls now

we have 3 punching judy's in the lineup. If Miggy, Maggs, or Guillen gets hurt, it's game over.

I think Thames needs to be in there over Anderson. sure we lose speed/defense, but Thames has some power that we need.

go with

Curtis
Polanco
Maggs
Miggy
Carlos
Thames
C
Inge
Everitt

Oh, I don't have hope for the Tigers. I hope they go 70-92. I hope they set a new record for losses in a season and I hope along the way they have to trade all their huge contracts for nothing because the economy sucks.

I'm an Indians fan. And the Tigers just aren't that bad, even if I want them to be.

I'm guessing whomever had the best intra division record would get in by default

Excerpts from Major League Rule 33 and Major League Rule 34

Scenario #1: If there is a tie for a Division Championship and the winning percentage of the two Clubs tied for first place is higher than the winning percentage of each of the second-place Clubs in the same League, the Division Champion shall be:

The Club with the higher winning percentage in head-to-head competition between the two tied Clubs during the championship season; or

If the Clubs remain tied, then to the tied Club with the higher winning percentage in intradivision games during the championship season; or

If the Clubs remain tied, then to the tied Club with the higher winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games during the championship season; or

If the Clubs remain tied, then to the tied Club with the higher winning percentage in the last half plus one of intraleague games during the championship season, provided that such additional game was not a game between the two tied Clubs. This process will be followed game-by-game until the tie is broken.

Example of Scenario #1: The Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners end the championship season tied for the AL West Division Championship. Both Clubs have a higher winning percentage than the Boston Red Sox. Through games of September 7, the Mariners have the higher winning percentage in head-to-head competition (7-6, .538) and would be declared the Division Champion. Oakland would be the Wild Card.

I much prefer Anderson in over Thames. Thames is a good platoon guy and an excellent pinch hitter but every time he has been given a starting spot in his career he has just faltered.

The tiger fans were pretty funny yesterday at Roger's Centre pre-game, they were heckling their own bullpen already.

Also did anyone catch in Vernon Wells first at bat he swung and missed at a high fastball from Jackson...Rod Allen says "may as well go up there again, and a little higher" Jackson does and Wells rips it off the wall for a double. Rod then talks about what a good high fastball hitter Wells is......LOLZ

hahaha ya

Leyland is managing this like an NL game, I kinda like it. He sacrificed with Everett earlier and then put the hit and run on with Thames at bat and Laird on base. I don't think we sacrificed more than 10 times total last year.

I mean it is Adam Everett though. I think he has a legit shot at hitting below .190 this year. Atleast for the first month or so before Jimmy comes to his senses and gives the starting SS spot to Santiago.
