Week 8 they get St. Louis at home after a bye week. All they have to do to meet my expectations is win that game. Nothing they do until then can disappoint me.
I though it was blacked out for most of the state? What is there only like a 50 mile blackout area outside of detroit or somethin?
I'm not sure what the mileage is, but 30-50 miles sounds about right. We always get the blacked out games in Grand Rapids. The NFL is usually pretty nitty about shutting down justin.tv for copyright infringement now that I think about it. In fact they're pretty ****ing nitty about a lot of things .... I'm not sure what I'd do if justin.tv didn't work.
^ That's a very good question. Does the NFL benefit from blacking out games? It doesn't make any sense to me. Even if a few fans decide to go to the game because they can't see it on TV (which I doubt happens very often), that's countered by the loss of TV revenue. Or maybe the argument is they don't want to show half empty stadiums because it would hurt the NFL's image. But the public knows the game isn't on TV because the team couldn't sell enough tickets, that's not so great for their image either. The blackout just seems like a dumb policy all around.

They do it because the owners are afraid that televising games would hurt attendance. I'm not sure if there's any truth to it. Maybe if they didn't lose every ****ing week they'd be able to sell some tickets.
Personally I saw some really really good season ticket deals before the season this year [they were really trying to avoid this situation]. But, I decided I didn't want to drive to Detroit and back to watch them lose a bunch of times this fall/winter and if they played like **** again it would be hard as **** to off load the tickets on StubHub.
