What? No. Even as currently constituted the Lions aren't one of the worst teams. Bit below average. We have to be one of the healthiest teams in the NFL. Stafford is our only injury of any significance.

Closest team to that is +3, Tampa Bay. Check out their record.
But look at how they're playing now (last two weeks in particular). A healthy Stafford, even a healthy Best changes things but I'm not expecting either. The Lions of right now would get crushed by the Lions of the first few weeks of the season.

I love the optimism though. It's going to make the thread entertaining as we watch the rest of the season unfold.

Given the fail % of NFL draftees, I can't figure out how this is true.

Lol no. Everything you're posting is wrong. We've been the same team from the beginning until now.. ~.500 running bad.

I don't know if I've ever underestimated the Lions before, this might be a first.

Right bro, never ever would we selected maybe the GOAT talent at #1 in the draft......ever. Just makes no sense to take GOAT when GOAT is sitting there for you.

There's prolly only a 5% chance we get the #1 pick though so it doesnt really matter.
Unless Matt Millen somehow hijacks Mayhew's brain, I'd guess that level of incompetence will never be reached.

Roy Williams is the GOAT troll

Quote:
I think Millen did a great job of putting a good football team together,” Williams said. “I think we had all the pieces. I don’t think we had it internally, as far as offensive linemen -- a good, solid base for the quarterback. But skill positions, I think we were set. But it just didn’t work out. If anybody else was to play GM on those years that he had those picks, I mean, most of those picks, you would take the same people.
to which Raiola responded
Quote:
“Mike Williams has a resurgence in his career after losing all that weight and getting a shot in Seattle, which is great for him, but he was 270 pounds when he was here,” Raiola said. “We took Joey Harrington, who’s not even playing football anymore. We took Charles Rogers, who’s out of football. Andre Johnson was the next pick. We can go on and on.You go across the league, this is a different Detroit Lions. This roster’s not even close to the same. But that’s Roy. That’s Roy. It wasn’t his fault. Offensive line’s fault, we couldn’t run the ball. I mean, we had another first-round running back who’s not even in the NFL -- he’s in the UFL now -- Kevin Jones. He had a couple injuries, but I mean, that’s funny to me. Teddy Lehman was a high second-round pick. Kalimba Edwards was a high second-round pick. If you look across the league, all those picks, they’re still on that team helping that team win. Maybe one or two are not. Maybe you might mess one or two up, but not the way we did.”
Not a big fan of Raiola but he's spot on

Lets say we are picking at #1. What is the minimum trade we take to move down?

Can someone explain to me the CBA? Isn't it going to be different by the next draft and if so isn't it more ridiculous than usual to even talk about who we're going to take this early before we know the draft order or even who will declare eligible?

why?

why would we pay favre's salary when we are anything but competitive?

just about the dumbest idea ever

Lions may be able to land Patrick Peterson.

The Favre thing is a moot point. He would never play for the Lions.

I'm pretty sure I will boycott if we pick up favre.

I would also like to say i'm so sick of the lions getting smashed by premier NFL teams on thanksgiving day. If we are going to play every year, the NFL should schedule us some games we can win. Who the **** wants to watch Tom Brady put up 50 on us in the first half besides NE fans? I'm so sick of how the only national exposure the lions get is them being smashed once a year by either brady or peyton.

How can that be true? A game that is tied late in the fourth quarter would produce a captive audience. A game that is a 20 point blowout does not.
