Yeah, after having time to digest the whole first round, it still stings. I'm not sure who the offers were from, but the popular rumor was the Falcons coveting Oliver. They could have moved back to 14 and been virtually assured that one of Bush/Gary/Sweat/Burns was still available. Hell, even Hock had a realistic shot at still being there. Or if you are still hell bent on a TE just get Fant there. I don't care if Oliver isn't a scheme fit. When you have someone that good fall into your laps, you either trade, or make him a scheme fit. Instead they hand him to Buffalo on a silver platter.
Taking Hock at 8 when there were so many potential impact players behind him is just typical Lions. I really thought it was different when Martha cleaned house after that embarrassing loss. Hiring Quinn was definitely not an SOL move, but he's brought in his own unique style of keeping this team out of the playoffs. I'm pretty much over him too. Trey Flowers is exciting, but I don't see how him and Hock are enough to get this team to the next level. Like you said, 8-8 feels right, with their ceiling being another 1 and done in the wildcard round, but that's on the good end. This season still has a high potential of being another bed ****ting.
At least looking at the 2nd round there are a ton of players still available that they're going to have a hard time not having someone I want fall to 41. I have a bottle of Jack on standby in case it's Drew Lock or another QB and I want to just drink myself into a coma.
