Re: Detroit Lions: Bob the Builder

I havent looked at rest of season schedules for anyone outside the lions but seems like very legit chance we could win 10 and not make the playoffs. Tie breaker losses to falcons/panthers. If we had a half decent coach we could of won 12 games easy.

Re: Detroit Lions: Bob the Builder

They need a lot of help. Minny losing out and Det winning out seems like the most likely scenario at this point, with Det somehow backing into a division win. This is a .500 team with 12-4 talent. It's very frustrating to watch them struggle this much. I want to like Caldwell, I really do, but after 4 mediocre seasons I have no emotional investment in him. All I can really ask is that Martha give Quinn 3, maybe 4 years tops to show some progress. If Quinn is going to tie his success to Caldwell, then that's on him. Start winning and making the playoffs consistently, or get out of the way for someone who will.

Even after the win, still like 15% yo make the playoffs. Thatís as a wild card team.

Which is irrelevant since we arenít winning 4 games in a row on the road.

Atlanta is likely enough to lose two, and if they do I think we're in pretty decent shape.

Re: Detroit Lions: Bob the Builder

Ebron has always been a decent receiver with a tendency to drop easy passes at the worst possible time.

Huge game tonight. We need ATL to drop 2 of their final 3. Tonight is their easiest matchup, but if TB pulls off the upset, Detroits playoff odds go up tremendously.

Which is exactly how many post season wins it will take to be SB champs. So you're saying there's a chance.

Maybe I'll spend a few minutes later and figure out their record since 2011 vs. +.500 and -.500 teams, because it seems like such an insane disparity just off the top of my head. I've never seen a team that can so consistently beat bad teams and lose to good ones.

I'm just not ready for the season to be over yet. I'd really enjoy watching a game or two in January this year.

I feel like Prater deserved the Pro-Bowl this year. I guess on paper Zuerlein was maybe a bit better, but I don't think that accounts for Prater hitting game changing kicks in 4th quarter at a perfect clip, including a 52 yarder in November Chicago winds. His one bad game was the dumpster fire of a loss in Baltimore where the whole team laid an egg.

Stafford I guess I can agree with. He's consistently like the 4th or 5th best QB in the conference. I would really like to see what he could do with a run game, where's he's got a lot more 3rd and 2 instead of 3rd and 9.

Bullet dodged. Rodgers on IR.

The playoff math is a bit murky as of now. Atlanta dropping two is still the most likely. They could still back in a 3-way tie at 10-6. We lose a head to head tie with SEA/NO/CAR, but can win a 3-way tie with NO/CAR if DAL/SEA joins the party. We'll lose the 3-way tie if ATL is there. So root for whoever wins the DAL/SEA matchup this weekend in week 17.

*** Ebron, we should of took A.Donald. They didnt extend extend the year on Fairleys rookie deal that season, and could of used the leverage of having another DT with Suh being a FA. Some mocks had us projected to take him. Donalds about to be DPOY and he just blows up every play. Such a lions pick to grab the tight end who couldnt catch in college over the dude whos the most dominate defensive force ITL.

Watching the Lions **** themselves has become an annual tradition in my house.

Kinda makes me sad I don't feel a need to burn flags or kick the dog anymore.

After the game I tweeted "all I want for Christmas is @showtimetate to get drunk and air his Lions grievances over Twitter"

He responded "I'm about to lol" then deleted the tweet immediately.

tate should be raging. I dont think its a coincidence that the offense started struggling once they took him out of it. He is one of the most talented players in the open field and he gets 3 catches in a must win game? dafuq is that?

Sorry boys, even if they fire Caldwell, we're stuck with this loser franchise for another century.

At least each loser era brings something unique to the table. The Caldwell era is over, lets see how this next one goes.

The loser era with Barry Sanders was the only one worth watching to me. And at least we'll always have Tecmo Super Bowl, one of the few video games where it's actually fun being the lions--until you play a decent human who knows how to shut down Rodney Peete's weak arm.

Edit: The highlight of this era: That 2014 team had the most title equity in Lions history since 1970, and the refs rigged it away. (the 91 team was a cute story but they were drawing dead. Washington was too good)

I would say as long as the Fords own this franchise, but it's conveying the same accurate message.

Re: Detroit Lions: Bob the Builder

Once you learn how to work around Rodney Peetes deficiencies he is fine. run and shoot fly z is an unstoppable play. combined with the best nose tackle in the game in jerry ball, the lions were a force.

As for ownership, at least so far I cant fault Martha for anything. She has one job, hire a GM, and so far she has done OK. she fired everyone when it fell apart in 15, which is way more than her husband would have done. We will see how years 3 and 4 go in the Bob Quinn era. If they can address the pass rush and run game without regressing in other areas, they should contend for the division.

I fire Caldwell right now for wasting one of the more creative plays his offense has drawn up on a 2 point attempt in garbage time.
