Stafgord did OK despite the blocking. Im not sure how you fix this team. I give zero ****s about this coaching staff.

We got down 20-3 in the first half because stafford was missing everything.

Overall he played ok

Just can’t get down 20-3 against real teams and expect it to end well.

Stafford missed some easy stuff today. Would like to see that screen pass to Riddick again. I know Stafford was under a lot of pressure. Fells sucks so bad

The screen pass miss killed me. One of the biggest plays of the game. Tate catching a 3rd down ball at the sticks then getting tackled behind the sticks in the 4th Q was huge too. Meanwhile, Keenum sidestepping the blitz that had him dead to rights and completing a 3rd down conversion was as clutch as it comes. Min made the big plays, Det gave them up

Re: Fells, he's an undrafted journeyman with 53 career receptions over 4.5 years. If you're strategy involves getting a ton of production from him, you're gonna have a bad time.

Yeah, Fells hype train has derailed and crashed in flames. The importance of having a big body who can make contested catches in the red zone is under appreciated. In the absence of a quality run game, I think it's a necessity. They've invested a lot in speedy WR's Tate and the Jones' who are good in the open field getting separation and making catches, but in short yardage situation when they can't spread the field, that strategy doesn't work. Even Ebron is more of a field stretching type guy. Remember Joseph Fauria? Dude was a TD catching machine. Fells has now dropped at least 3 TD's in two weeks, two in that Minny game alone. Hopefully they get Golladay more involved. Since coming back, that dude has made some really sick catches. Insane talent for a rookie.

It wasn't Stafford's best game, but it wasn't horrible by NFL standards, especially against a top defense when Taylor Decker was getting burned by Griffin on every snap.

Lol at Darius Slay trying to defend him not being offsides on the last field goal. Dude, you're going to the pro-bowl, just let that one go.

At this point we want Minny to run the table so they can knock out our wildcard competition. Detroit is not in great shape to make the playoffs. While I don't think Quinn is one to make any rash decisions, a failure to make the playoffs has to put Caldwell on the hot seat.

I'm doubling down on my drafting a RB in the 1st round prediction, or else bringing in a big FA. Abdullah is bad. I'm tired of hearing analysts blame the line, when other backs are getting the job done even when the blocking breaks down. You have to be able to gain yards after contact in this league, and none of these 4 can.

The season is over. Who cares if we get the 6 seed

This team has a 0% chance of winning 3 road games in a row against playoff teams.

Caldwell signed an extension before or at the start of the season. No hot seat this year.

I don't disagree with this, but I think making the playoffs is better than not. Even winning one post season game on the road would be a good enough sign of progress. I think they need to run the table to make it happen though, and the toughest game is easily Baltimore on the road. #1 defense. Stafford needs to be disciplined and not turn the ball over on Sunday. It's probably not going to be high scoring, but they need to maintain drives, not commit turnovers, and at least win the field position battle and come away with some FGs.

Fair enough. Although I think an epic bed ****ting in the last 5 games might warm it up a bit.

It looks like Swanson and Agnew are out this week. Abdullah and Lang are back at practice. I was really hoping to see Tion Green this week, even though it doesn't look like they are in any hurry to promote him. They clearly kept him on the 53 man because they know he wouldn't last on the practice squad, but he hasn't dressed yet. When your run game is somehow near dead last in the NFL, you think you would mix it up a bit rather than keep trotting out the same crap that never works week after week.

I'm not sure if I've posted this take here, but the 4 backs they've used this year, Abdullah, Riddick, Zenner, and Washington, are all slight variations of the same guy. Abdullah and Riddick have some unique skills, but all 4 of these guys are shifty backs that do their best work in space out on the edge or in the pass game, not running between the tackles. Green is their power back, yet for some reason they keep trying to make Zenner or Washington fill that role. I'm not the coach, but why keep a fifth guy if you're not going to use him after your other 4 don't get anything done?

You don't need to send a RB to the pro-bowl, but the lack of a power run game at this point is making it way too easy on opposing defenses. Stafford will have to bring his A+ game on Sunday to have any chance against Baltimore.

Weird things can happen in the playoffs. Unfortunately I don't think this team has the personnel to improve in the run game, unless they pull their heads out their asses and figure out they have an actual decent RB in Tion Green on their team. That's about the only change I can see them making this late in the season to try and rejuvenate this anemic run game. Whether the problem is scheme, O-Line, or RB, there's little chance to improve. If it's scheme, and JBC doesn't know how to run, he's not going to learn now. The O-Line isn't going to magically get better, and they've cycled through all their personnel there (with the exception of Dahl who looks to be coming back to fill in as guard, as Swanson is likely done). If it's RB, they've tried 4 of 5 backs on the roster, and I don't see anyone whose played doing much.

Running the table and making the playoffs would be great. 10-6 likely ends with them losing a tie breaker to Carolina or Atlanta. I'd like to see some improvement as the season goes on, especially from the younger players. Jalen Reeves-Maybin is looking pretty decent so far. Teez Tabor is working his way into the lineup, which is what I was hoping to see. He'll probably see more time now with Wilson done. We'll see how Killebrew does as a true SS. It's a small sample size, but Golladay is looking like the steal of the draft, making highlight reel catches in just about every game he's played in his injury shortened season. Davis has been struggling, but is an improvement over last years LB's, and he's playing probably the toughest position on D. Joe Dahl might make his way back in, and could be the LG of the future.

Wow, I saw them **** the bed on this play (I assume it was after the really close incomplete or fumble play where they seemed confused on the next play). That was really bad. I have no attachment to the coaching staff whatsoever. They are basically some warm bodies that aren't Jim Schwartz or any of the other crap coaches this team has trotted out over the years, but I don't give two ****s what happens to them. Any coach that has been on the job for more than 2 years, doesn't have a legacy of winning, and fails to make the playoffs, should be a little worried for their job. Especially when they seem to have the talent to win but come out and get behind every game.

From what I understand, teams generally script their first few series, and for several weeks in a row the Lions have come away with nothing. That has to 100% be on Cooter. They continually fail to handle blitzes well. Stafford's focus is throwing down field which takes time, but when the opposing D brings 7 guys, you have to have hot routes and blitz beaters in your playbook.

My prediction on Green breaking 100 yards was somewhat of a joke, but honestly, if they don't fall behind 20-0, and don't inexplicably split his carries with Theo Riddick, he might break 100. 11 carries, 4.6 ypc, a long of 33, and a TD run where he bulldozed some guys. I sort of expected him to play sparingly with Riddick/Zenner getting most of the work, but instead he got the majority of carries. It's one of the few things this coaching staff has gotten right this season. Of course that means they've been sitting him on the bench while they trot out one of the worst run games in he NFL all year. I'm trying not to get too hyped on the guy like I did with Fells after a couple good games, but I still think Green has earned the start next week, regardless of Abdullah's health.

The season is likely over, which is what us Lions fans have come to expect. It is what it is. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy just watching football for 4 more games. Maybe this team is one more offseason away from competing. Maybe they regress. Most realistically they continue to be a 500 team.

Finally, I haven't heard much about Stafford's injury. It doesn't appear to be too bad, and I think he'll be back. If it was a closer game, he probably finds his way back in, but with how bad they were getting their asses beat, why bother.

Caldwells contract now appears to only have 1 year guaranteed. I think its increasingly likely they fire him this year, barring a backdoor into the playoffs, and at this point I would like to see them win a postseason game. There have been far too many coaching mistakes this year for w/l to be the only factor in keeping him.

Dammit Cleveland. Would've been nice if they could've put that one away. As for the Lions, not a very convincing win. All it showed me is that the offense is mostly OK. It was mostly holding penalties that killed them. Stafford threw two bad throws all game and both got picked off. I'm not too worried about that ratio. Ebron with 10 catches and 94 yards, but a horrible fumble and a drop. He gets better separation and YAC than a typical TE, but has below average hands and ball security, which are probably the two most important attributes in a TE.

This defense is not very good. They forced 5 turnovers, still gave up 21, and almost lost. TB was pretty much moving that ball at will all day. No ability in the front 4 to get at the passer. The secondary was getting picked apart in their zone all day long. I can't tell if Peyton Barber is a superstar RB in the making or just looked good playing the Lions run D. Either way, I'm not sure what happened to this defense. The 3 safety sets we saw early in the year seemed to be working, but it seems like they have completely given up on Miles Killebrew for some reason.
