Time to fire this chump.
Wow, I saw them **** the bed on this play (I assume it was after the really close incomplete or fumble play where they seemed confused on the next play). That was really bad. I have no attachment to the coaching staff whatsoever. They are basically some warm bodies that aren't Jim Schwartz or any of the other crap coaches this team has trotted out over the years, but I don't give two ****s what happens to them. Any coach that has been on the job for more than 2 years, doesn't have a legacy of winning, and fails to make the playoffs, should be a little worried for their job. Especially when they seem to have the talent to win but come out and get behind every game.
From what I understand, teams generally script their first few series, and for several weeks in a row the Lions have come away with nothing. That has to 100% be on Cooter. They continually fail to handle blitzes well. Stafford's focus is throwing down field which takes time, but when the opposing D brings 7 guys, you have to have hot routes and blitz beaters in your playbook.
My prediction on Green breaking 100 yards was somewhat of a joke, but honestly, if they don't fall behind 20-0, and don't inexplicably split his carries with Theo Riddick, he might break 100. 11 carries, 4.6 ypc, a long of 33, and a TD run where he bulldozed some guys. I sort of expected him to play sparingly with Riddick/Zenner getting most of the work, but instead he got the majority of carries. It's one of the few things this coaching staff has gotten right this season. Of course that means they've been sitting him on the bench while they trot out one of the worst run games in he NFL all year. I'm trying not to get too hyped on the guy like I did with Fells after a couple good games, but I still think Green has earned the start next week, regardless of Abdullah's health.
The season is likely over, which is what us Lions fans have come to expect. It is what it is. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy just watching football for 4 more games. Maybe this team is one more offseason away from competing. Maybe they regress. Most realistically they continue to be a 500 team.
Finally, I haven't heard much about Stafford's injury. It doesn't appear to be too bad, and I think he'll be back. If it was a closer game, he probably finds his way back in, but with how bad they were getting their asses beat, why bother.
