Can't really give them too much credit for the gameplan since we put up 21 in the first half, with our offense going pretty much unstopped. Riddick certainly adds an element to the offense, but he's never been the focal point of it, and he's been pretty ineffective as a conventional running back. It was their second half defensive adjustments that shut them down. As usual, we seemed to get out coached again.

While there are only certain types of run plays that he is effective at running, you can't deny he moved the ball well on the ground in the first half. He has a unique shiftyness that helps make up for his other shortcomings as a running back. I'm not sure you can feed him the ball 20+ times per game and not have defenses figure him out and shut him down, but I know they've never tried, and the first half of this game was the best our running game has looked in a while. All that happened against the leagues top running defense.
My guess is they went to Washington in the 2nd half to give Dallas a different look, but he sucks pretty bad. Aside from some occasional impressive displays of power, he's done jack all. Most of his big runs come when he has a hole big enough to fly a 747 through.
It does seem this team has gone away from the screen game a lot, which is another area Zenner has been effective, and it can help supplement the normal garbage run game.
I still think this has been a pretty successful season given how bad last season was when they were getting blown out by mediocre teams. They still need about 4 or 5 new players on defense at LB/DB, possibly a RB, and god help us I think they lose a lot having a TE as 1 dimensional as Ebron, who had a few more drops on Monday. A good draft and a couple key FA signings could be all this team needs to turn the corner next year. I'm really hoping they make the playoffs even if they do backdoor their way into a wildcard. I'm sure Quinn wants an extra game to evaluate this squad against a top team.
