Beating the Packers, Pats, and Fins (ok lol Osweiler, but he wasn't that bad today) is no joke. But yeah, one of those losses may still come back to haunt them. They're likely going to have to finish 7-3, with 3 division road games and the Rams still to play, so they'll have to be more consistent and win some tough ones. This team is looking pretty good though. I'm still optimistic.

Surely the Lions will be 6.5 point underdogs when they travel to Minneapolis Nov 4th That game will likely determine the season but if Buffalo can hold them to 6 points then its possible the Lions can win there too.

Yeah - pro bowler 2 years ago and hasn't missed a start in years (maybe ever?). Not cheap but solid+ starter in a spot we need help. Great move imo.

Snacks isn’t cheap salary wise but yeah that’s a position of need and easily worth the pick.

God help me, I'm actually getting excited for the first time since we lost to the Cowboys in the Wild Card. We can actually make a run! The North is winnable this year!

This thread is chock full of my takes of optimism when things seemed to be heading in the right direction. I am afraid to even go back and see the things I was saying after their crushing of NYG and near-win vs. Atlanta last year.

I also have been bit by the optimism bug that's been going around. Their wins against the Pats, Fins, and Packers were pretty impressive performances. As fun as 2016 was they rarely controlled a game and always needed Stafford 4th quarter heroics to pull it off. While I'm sure he's still got that skillset, scoring first and staying ahead is probably a better way to win football games, and for the first time in a long time, they've managed to do that.

Hopefully Damon Harrison is the piece they need to solidify their run defense, because Sylvester Williams doesn't seem to be working out.

I also hope this week we finally see the return of Ziggy Ansah. He's probably the only D-Lineman on this team with the athleticism to make Russell Wilson uncomfortable if he gets out of the pocket. The other guys have stepped up magnificently, but Wilson seems like a matchup problem for our line.

Love the trade because he’s not guaranteed at all after this year — low risk, high potential reward.

This team is weird. I sort of expected some inconsistencies with a new head coach but this is bizarre. The DBs and run D are really bad.

There are still plenty of opportunities this season for them to get your hopes up and then crush them.

I dunno, I feel like the Jones td to go up 7-0 has a lot of season-high-water-mark potential.

If they knock off Minny and Chicago to take the division lead, it will be a tough pill to swallow if they don't take the division.

Here's some of my reasons to be optimistic takeaways from this game:

The Seahawks were an unusually terrible matchup for the Lions. While they've been generating a decent pass-rush in previous weeks, Wilson is a different beast. They didn't have anyone fast enough who can run with him and make him uncomfortable. They really needed Ziggy back for this one.

The DB's played almost comically bad in this one. On three of the touchdowns the coverage was actually pretty good, the DB's were in decent position, but for whatever reason couldn't make the play. The one ball went right through Diggs hands for the DT. It's almost impossible for them to play this bad again.

The run D is still likely a weakness, but give them more time to work Snacks into the defense, and hopefully it gets better. Seattle was a bad matchup in that regard as well.

This was a tough one, but just about every unit played bad. A couple plays go differently and it's a different game.
