David Arkin is embarrassing. Get Romo out of there before they get him killed. Didn't draft any quality OL to develop and they didn't sign any FA OL worth a damn in the offseason and it shows. Romo will be running for his life once again.

Oline needs work but keep in mind costa and livings were out. Crawford and Butler are all over the field. Did that 4-3 look early in the game have Connor, Lee, Carter at lb with Spencer and Ware at the ends? If so thats pretty sexy

Silva and Church both looked solid. Even Scandrick is turned around looking for the ball. I really like what's I'm seeing in the front 7 and really the entire defense even the young guys.

McGee and Carpenter don't look like NFL QBs and the interior o-line is as advertised. Offense and ST looked really sloppy. Leary, Arkin, etc not NFL ready.

Not sure when I turned into Needle but our oline guys getting mauled tilts me beyond belief.

Try to remember the line isn't quite together yet. I don't think Arkin makes the team and after seeing Leary he might be in rough shape too. Bernadeau just got cleared to return, there's no Livings or Costa. We're in the market for a center and I wouldn't rule out Holland just yet. What does worry me a bit is Doug Free, I really didn't like what I saw.

Felix didn't look very good and was dogging it. I didn't see any good blocking in the backfield at all. Not having Martellus looks like it will hirt us there but we'll see.

The front 7 on defense was very solid and deep-looking, and at this point I don't think Albright or Hamilton clear waivers. Wilber broke his thumb and will be our 4 weeks but we should be able to weather that with our OLBs. Though, Anthony Spencer can officially abandon any hope of getting a new deal here, though I'm wondering if franchising him will wind up costing us a shot at extending Butler at a decent price. Church and Sensa looked good, Carter made a nice showing. I'd like a better look at the some of the corners though.

Special teams was a circus.

Yep, Chris Simms. I believe his spleen ruptured mid-game. Hopefully Witten's okay and it's as minor as a beat up spleen can be.

Seem to remember the oline getting raped on the play was cause for Witten getting pwned.

Will be interesting to re-visit in two years to see how Decastro/Konz vs Claiborne turns out.

I remember people wanting to take DeCastro @ 14 or even trade up. I don't know how his career is going to turn out but 23 picks went off the board before him. Konz went #55 so that would have been a reach from where we were. The league just doesn't like drafting interior guys that high. Some teams do, for example Carolina and SF, but others like NO, GB, PHI & NYG have made fewer Day 1-2 oline picks and have been successful.

The fact is Dallas' failure has been at evaluating and developing lineman. Look at the more successful lines in the NFL and consider where they found most of their guys especially on the interior. Here's our o-line picks since 2002:

There are some decently high picks in that group but really? There's barely a starting lineup in there. You've got Gurode and Free who both took a few years to develop into decent players (and the jury is still kinda out on Free). Al Johnson was a very average player who started two years, Peterman a career starter in DET we gave up on. And where are the UDFAs we've developed in that time? The most productive undrafted o-lineman we've brought in were Tucker, Proctor, and now Costa.

Dallas has been just abyssmal at developing o-line talent, that's the problem. I don't know whether it was Sparano & Houck's work over those years, scouting, bad luck, scheme, or what. The picks are there, and remember that for a number of years we were starting Flozell and a little bit of Larry Allen too.

For the record, the Jones' said our 1/2 picks had we not traded were Brockers and LB Wagner. Neither appear to be pressing needs.
