Maybe we can bring Wade back for Round 2?

So Dak missed setting the Cowboys single season passing record by 3 yards. Damn. I'd be a little salty about that.

Garrett will probably make an excellent GM for someone one day. Shorter term I kinda do see him making the Giants more of nuisance. Say what you want but the guy walks with a .559 record and a relative ton of experience. I’m curious to see how his career goes outside of Dallas.

Still, clearly overdue for coaching changes here. Everyone”s tired of hearing about how good the roster is and never having anything to show for it. I hope they reevaluate every person and every part of their approach from scratch.

Unless a total got corrected somewhere, looks like 1 yard. Wow.

Only interesting thing to talk about at the moment, I guess.

Is anybody in the sports press aware that Garrett’s contract expires tomorrow? There’s all this hand-wringing about meetings and decisions, when it’s overwhelmingly more likely they’re just going to “mutually part ways” or whatever they sell it as.

Jan 14th is the end of his deal btw, not today. Maybe he’s interviewing for a FO job

Yeah I could definitely see Jerry wanting to kick him upstairs just so there's no chance he could go to the Giants and potentially embarrass him a couple times a year. Or at least leaving him twisting in the wind long enough that the job gets taken, lol. Of course waiting this long themselves is dangerous too, unless they're mostly interested in college coaches.

With Jerry pulling the strings and being the star of the show, the cowboys need a muppet coach. So its the perfect coach for them.

As long as Jerry is in place, any successful coach (because of the big ego that comes with that) will not want to sit back and have to play second fiddle to Jerry and his decision making.

Normally I’d jump in to laugh at the choice too, but this team hasn’t won a single playoff game beyond the wild card round in a quarter century. If anything he should be laughing at us.

Either way he can get right to work figuring out the staff and how they”re going to assemble a team with 30+ expiring deals.

Frederick retires. Glad they kept Joe Looney around but between this, Fleming, and the increasing wear on Tyron, I’d expect to see some OL in the draft.

There’s a lot they need though, there’s no getting around that they lost much more than they gained this offseason. Still have a QB and a lot of decent pieces so they’re far from hopeless but new HC has his work cut out for him.

Edit: As far as cap they drop 10m or so in dead money, but without his salary they are about +600k. Not ideal but at least he wasn’t a recent extension, and Looney did start the entire 2018 season and played respectably enough from what I saw. Sucks to lose an all-world center but it could be worse, and maybe some of that money is better spent at another position next season.

If you want a tiny bit of silver lining, Dallas currently figures to rake in a good batch of compensatory picks next year. Right now on pace for two 3rds, 5 and 6. That’s probably 3 seasons worth of 1 half-decent starter and maybe a ST/depth piece all told, but it’s something.

For the record I don’t see them as that bad off, but I’m definitely not about to crown them world champs either. They were 10-6 two years ago with Byron at safety and Fredbeard sitting out, and a different coaching regime. They’ve still got a QB, RB, a pair of good WRs, a solid LB group, and both lines are look at least potentially respectable. Problems and questions out the ass about the rest but for those wanting changes we got them & at least don’t have to start from zero. Jason Witten is a Raider now anything is possible.

Yeah who knows how these guys go, but if you’re a fan of consensus they’re destroying it this draft.

My remaining wish list in rough order: QB, T, S, C, CB, TE, P

Seriously though CeeDee looks unreal. A few pushoffs that will get him in the NFL but otherwise...I mean do you put him or Amari in the slot? Both will annihilate people. Factor in Jarwin and Zeke with their receiving skills...please hold together oline

Did the Dallas Cowboys just draft an entire class based on the public consensus BPA rankings? I have no head scratchers to talk about at all.

Love the Wisconsin center. I don’t watch college ball and no idea about the guy, but nice touch.

I thought that was a great draft. I can see it being impossible to not take Lamb there, although I'd need to know what offers were on the table for those who wanted to move up (mostly because some pretty darn good WR's went later).

But mostly I think that draft rocked. We really need Diggs to become a decent starter. The 3rd rounder is from my home town in Canada, pretty cool. Good for him.

WR is really always a need and it’s a pretty high value position. If they legit had him as a top 5 on the board and he fell to 17, there’s nothing to think about.

At the moment my biggest concern is QB2. Great that Rush is around 1 more year and that they used a Rd 96 pick on a guy I never heard of, but think they need to find a few bucks for a vet (Moore?) to shore things up. There’s no reason to not carry 3 with the new roster expansion if you like one of the young guys enough. But Rush is a question and the rookie is maybe 30% to even make the roster, and this offense has to work with all they’ve poured into it...more so with Dak’s deal in the air and all of the camp and preseason at risk. They need real experience

Amazing how badly the Bears did in the QB market (giving up a 4th to take on Foles and his entire contract) where the Cowboys and Saints manage to get high end backups/low level starters for a very fair price. Whoever gets Newton will likely get a similar deal.
