Cowboys 7-1 at home and 2-5 on the road. Two road wins were the Falcons/Eagles. One team eliminated from the playoffs and one likely to be on Sunday.

Would much rather play the Vikings in the WC and Rams in the division round. Doesn't look like it will shake out that way.
Agreed, Vikings would be first choice, next Seahawks, last eagles w/ Foles starting.

So how are they going to manage minutes last game? Play Zeke 1 half?

I'd be all for playing him 0 minutes. I think you gotta play Dak 1 half.

I’m fine with resting everybody they can as much as they can, esp Zeke. And I don’t know I want Dak out there with the o-line missing.

sounds like they're starting everybody. Ugh

That could mean playing a quarter, which I'm ok with. This offense isn't exactly the well-oiled machine that's so in sync that it can take a whole week off and just hit the ground running the next week.

There are conflicting theories about whether resting vs staying in the game is better, not sure which actually is. And they’re young. But the core guys need to be out of there by the half & if Zeke sees 12 carries they’re making a mistake IMO. But neither team is playing for anything so I think you’re probably in for a quick game of meh football

Zeke and Martin won’t play.

Boring week chatter: the possibility of a Zeke extension this offseason. By rights they have him in 2019, and will definitely take his 2020 option as well (around maybe 11-12m), and if still anywhere near elite at that point he’ll be an easy tag. On the other hand, zero chance Zeke or his agent are going to just quietly wait around...obviously they’ve been running him as hard as you can run a back & he’s delivered huge.

What I’m wondering is what a “tolerable” extension would actually look like. Remember he’s already locked up for next two seasons already for around $16m total, very manageable, and you know how quickly backs wear. Obv in a Madden game you don’t ever extend him in this spot but it rarely plays that way irl. But assuming Dallas does they have to get some kind of concession with all the leverage they currently have, I hope. At least with structure and guarantees. The market says he’s at least a $15m/year back, probably more now with the big cap increase, worth a 6 year deal with most of it guaranteed...

But of course he’s not on the open market or anywhere near it. But is this guy ever going to go for a $12m deal? Or accept less guaranteed? Cowboys leverage aside, the offense revolves around him and he’s at peak value right now, and they know it. Holdouts are much harder for players today under the new CBA but there’s no way I’d step on the field without a signed extension next year In his shoes. I don’t think you can risk losing a $60m bonus check to injury even if it sets things back. Not that $4m is anything to sneeze at but it’s not $60m.

Good thing almost all the starters on Both sides played all game. Nothing says confidence building like giving up 30+ to the giants.

I don’t see it that way. Division games are always weird especially in this case where the game doesn’t matter. Plus when you’re sitting Zeke, Tyron, Martin you aren’t exactly starting everybody, that’s arguably the teams’ 3 best players, and you can’t even really argue two of them.

Plus if you’re going to fault the defense, what about the offense? And Dak? Despite missing 4 all-pros on offense (4!), and getting virtually no run game going, Dak got it convincingly done in the air. And they appear to have a chap interested in the starting TE job, that seems like it could be helpful.

NYG wasn’t a gimmie anyway, they blasted a couple teams this year and can hang points when they get hot. I mean look at their last 8 matchups. Laid one egg but were a tough matchup otherwise, and were at home.

In any case not sweating the defense, they haven’t given up 30 all year and under 25 in all but one other. I doubt they’re going to feel shook over it. They’ll have Crawford back and be basically full strength and be ready.

They’re clearly better than anybody projected and in it, couldn’t ask for much more. They’re not dominant but they have a shot, nobody in the really NFC scares me. Saints are playing the best and are tough at home but they got a win on them once, and being the conference favorite doesn’t really mean ****, old fans def know. I’m good to go new TV and all awooooooo

you can't tell me your anus didnt shrink when Vander Esch was on the ground.

Mad, I was.

So how about this TE? Would be found money if TE wasn't an area we needed to burn a 2nd or 3rd on...

What's the line gonna be if we host Seahawks? -2?

Not sure, feels like a PK to -1 type of line to me

Re: LVE - sure I did. but then my second thought was that you could do worse than Sean Lee as your backup.

They’ve been high on Jarwin’s upside since they snagged him and he’s been pretty effective since Swaim got hurt, at least when targeted, but today wtf. They’re going to have to get another one either way, Shultz and gathers aren’t there and swaim prob gone. Seems like they might consider just grabbing an old vet FA

The line on Seahawks game will probably unbettable in any case, with Cowboys hosting. Although late in the week it could get pushed to something if you want to take the Seahawks. Dal -1.5?could go to 3.5? Who knows. O/u might be interesting though. Also heard Romo rejoining for one game to do holds

-2.5 is what I see. I was close!

Man I really wanted it to not be the Seahawks. At least it's not in Seattle. Line is 42, not sure why but I can see them both blowing that total out of the water.

It’s been as much as -3 down to -1. It’s at 1.5 right now but maybe it goes back to -1. I’m still a no on it. O/U number seems good thought I could see another 24-13 type game easier than a shootout (which would be good for Dallas imo). These teams really are that close a matchup

It's absurdly cliche, but the turnover battle will decide the winner.

If they t-off those blitzes on downs where Dak is just standing there in the pocket trying to do too much, and he fumbles, we're going to lose. If Dak's internal clock can get a bit better and he can throw some balls away, that's a first big improvement. The second big improvement would be to really mix in play action. Do it early, catch them off guard. Throw some quick hitters to Beasely and Jarwin on running downs. They have to make it much harder to blitz. I don't mind grinding them down with the run late, but early on they have to try and mix it up.

At least nobody has to worry about throwing against Earl Thomas again. Cowboys roster has just improved since the last matchup too, hopefully it shows.

1) Run Dak more

2) The amount of plays with WR's totally wide open is a concern

3) I dunno about kicking that 58 yarder where they did

outside of that, nice game from the D and the O did just enough. Hope Beasely is a quick heal.

Was fine with the attempt. The guy clearly has the leg and has crushed the 50+ range since preseason. Just last month he nailed the longest AND 2nd longest FGs in team history (and not while in Denver) This would have been #3 since the 58 in preseason doesn’t count. He was 7 for 8 at 50+ and the miss hit an upright...Ill risk spotting 30 yards to Seattle.

I mean they’re not all going to work

They’re most likely dogs from here but whatever, they’re still in the thing, healthy, and the rungood meter has been almost full crank for months. Maybe it goes a little more, maybe not. They’re just so far ahead of my expectations there’s no point in trying to guess where the ceiling is. Play ball.

Kinda like Indy straight up this week btw
