Season far surpassed anything I had expected and the core is young, but I still hate the "what if"

I HATE prevent on 3rd and 20. You're getting great pressure on them and you want to let that guy face prevent? Awful.

I HATE the spike. Loath it. For what, 7 seconds?

I really didn't like about half the play calling. I know they scored 30+, but they made it so hard on themselves. So many spots where Zeke should have run the ball instead of really difficult throws.

It was tough to tell in a loud bar too, but I thought the officiating was mildly bad. Not horrific, but missed some helmet to helmets and some real obvious stuff while being pretty ticky-tac on us. But I'll happily take that if our coaches call a better game.

Anyway we have a bright future bros, let's remember those 2 are rooks. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs. I can't even hate GB. Too much respect.

The refs were pretty bad but it was definitely bad for both sides

The play that hurt the most was Rodgers getting bailed out as if he's Eli Manning when he just threw the ball up of his back foot and our DB grabbed the guy despite having the safety there

The plays that I hated the most was when we were in the red zone and 1st down and threw the ball instead of running it. Ended up having to settle for a field goal.

They did that too on the play that ultimately was a Dez TD on 3rd down, and made it so hard on themselves. Like bro he's averaging almost 6 per. RUN three times.

The 3rd and 2 pass from the gb 35 on one of our first drives was annoying too

Gah this sucks. They just made more plays. Rodgers placed the ball so well, they made all the tough catches. Our DBs were covering for like 5 seconds every play and right on guys and they are toe tapping for huge plays.

And as good as Rodgers was Dak put up basically identical numbers. And Zeke has 125 yards at 5 a clip. Just impossible to win that game basically.

Yea i agree. Thought they should of ran it on 1st or 2nd down end of first half. Looked like gb only had 6 in the box. They end up settling for 3 and give the ball to rodgers with time left.

Disagree. But if you're gonna lose to the best, losing close ain't bad. They fought hard to come back.

The good thing to take from this is that Dak and Zeke really showed up to their first big game and look extremely capable of capturing a ship. I hardly feel like this was a lucky year.

Trade Romo, get some pieces for the D and a receiver or TE, ball out next year.

Congrats to Dak and Zeke on an incredible year, it hardly looks like a fluke. Hopefully Dak can prove the haters wrong. He threw a backbreaking interception but lets face it Romo almost certainly would have to. The last thing we wanted was to Dak to walk away feeling like he was to blame. A la Romo 2006.

It took a 3rd and 20 and back to back 56 and 51 yd fg's to beat them so... Truly a sick way to lose.

Dallas actually favored in the last minute, far from impossible. Probably favorites as Crosby is kicking a 56 yarder with 1:30 left as well.

Im not even a cowboys fan and that was heart breaking. I thought they should of relied on running game more. This is the best running game I have seen in many years. The 3rd and 2, end of first half, and that int I think was 2nd and 1? I havent watched every cowboys game but Ive never seen Zeke get negative yards.

Also those early penalties. They obv were not ready for the rodgers getting a free first down on 3rd and short on first drive. And the butler penalty was huge.

Rodgers really did play like god

Bottom line, we need better players on the D line. We have got to get a pass rush.

There are lots of things you could point at but this is what most good playoff teams look like now. High powered offenses, questionable defenses, have to win shootouts and get clutch kicks made.

What's so positive about Dallas is that their now-young offense is returning next year without any key losses, and should have enough ammo to boost their D. They don't have an aging injury concern at QB or RB problems hanging over their head. They're basically shopping for a WR2, RT and have to get a QB2 and that's it. And I think you can fill those slots with Chaz Green inexpensive FAs easy enough.

And while the defense needs work, they're no longer tied to a high-priced CB contract (though Claiborne or Carr could return for a sensible cost). Scandrick's deal is much cheaper than it was. You've got about $20m+ in cap room you can subtract from the 2018 season because Romo is gone, which will help them resign several players. Tapper looked pretty good in OTAs and Jaylon Smith is a pretty nice lotto ticket to be holding. Sean Lee's been healthy-ish for a couple seasons now. Collins did an okay job for a rookie starter, Anthony Brown did enough at corner to give reason to hope for more later.

If they can just hit on a pass-rusher and maybe 1 other defensive playmaker I think it's enough. And the latter could already be on the roster. So yeah I'm not shedding any tears over this season.

Speaking of, wonder if DWare finds his way back to Dallas. Shouldn't be costly given age and injuries, and if he can pass a physical I could see mutual interest. He's a badly-needed RKG and Cowboys are a contender. At least to get them by a year since Gregory's a bust and DLaw isn't doing much. It would obviously be a limited 1-year deal but seems like a potentially good match given the situation.

Unfortunately Cowboys are on the hook for all or half of Romos contract, depending on when they get rid of him.

I saw today's report that the Broncos didn't want him but I cannot imagine the cowboys don't trade him away easily (and with significant compensation)

They're on the hook just for $19.6m in accelerated bonus, and it's extremely unlikely they June 1 him to split it. He'll be traded to somebody.

Which given the circumstances isn't terrible, because they're saving about $5m next year relative to keeping him, not to mention another potential $40m for the 2018-2019 seasons. And there's no real replacement cost since they have Dak working for pesos for 2-3 more years (actually, just a little for whoever is going to be the QB2). They can potentially get something in trade too - I wouldn't bank on the Broncos that's just a name that people have been floating. That's more of a plus anyway.

It's really hard to overstate the effect of drafting Instant Pro Bowl QB with a nothing draft pick. It drastically this changed the outlook for the team's future and their cap situation immediately. They need to extend a couple people soon and this allows them to do that easier, plus who knows what their QB-hunting costs would have been if Dak didn't fall in their lap.

Easiest $20m dead money spend here, fortunate that they are even in the position to do it. Lol $636k cap cost for Dak next year. There's a strong chance the QB group cost for the team is less than $5m total in 2018. Very ready to eat the loss on TR

I agree, trade him before June 1, hopefully get a 1st out of him and eat the whole contract this year.

We won't even notice the dead money. The cap is supposed to jump $8-10m and they'll make some moves (lose Doug Free, a couple obvious restructures). The rookie draft pool will be low LDO. Their big challenge will be a good DE and CB. They're probably going to kick tires on JPP too come to think of it.

Do we have the money to bring in a good veteran DE? Calais Campbell and JPP may be out there this offseason.

I'm sure they can come up with the money if they want to but that doesn't seem to be the way Jerry likes to do things now, so I don't see him signing a big name player unless he can get him cheap.

Man, people are so salty at work today.

Agreed about the spike at the end being idiotic. Garrett completely mismanaged that last drive and it cost them the game (or at least the chance to go to OT). Such a shame.

Dallas has the best roster itl. Need to fire Garrett who was shook from the very first drive where he went shotgun pass on 3rd and 2 then kicked the 50 yd FG. Only got worse from there.

I still find myself pretty damn salty today. Can't help but feel they got pretty lucky on a few big plays like the ball going just over Lee's shoulder and in between his helmet and arm for their first TD. I mean what's the odds of that? Defenders diving to just get a finger on the ball to knock it away, sideline toe taps to get in position for FGs twice, Rodgers throwing the ball up and receivers having to turn completely around only to have the ball drop right in their lap. 56 Yard FGs. I feel like they had to play perfectly to beat us and that's what happened. Couple that with some bad play calls and game management and it cost us.

Got down 21-3 and then the team started to play. That one hurt but at least we found a QB I guess?

Yep. Just hope they can find some players to build the D line with. Wilkinson from the Jets would be nice. Trade Romo for him, probably wishful thinking.

Still pissed at T Williams. 3 plays where he could have went and got the ball with his hands instead of trying to catch it against his body. 1 was dropped and the other 2 got knocked away.
