There's still 6 more rounds. The best corner on our roster was drafted in the fifth round. Plenty of opportunity left.

I think the Cowboys have more questions associated with them, than almost any team in the league.

Will any of our draft picks actually make any kind of impact?
Nope

Rapoport saying Dallas tried to deal back in for Lynch but couldn't do it.

If Jack is there when Dallas picks, he has to be worth the risk, right? Even as beat up as the LBs have been

Man if these Ravens rumors are true I'm going to be so tilted. Like what would you be worried about, Jax trading Zeke? Come on...

It was gift wrapped to draft Zeke at #6 and get an asset you tools.

lol the classic part here is Jerry really did a fair bit to try to draft offence back to back in the draft. I could see them trading back here now from #34 if that's on his mind still.

In some alternate universe right now, the Cowboys have DeMarco Murray signed to an $8m/year long-term deal

We went all in on Romo with the Zeke pick and then try to trade for a 1st round QB?

Yeah it's so backwards. The amazing part is how big a part of the fan base loves all this. I guess the every-man loves them some scoring. Gonna be amusing when one of Romo or Zeke gets hurt, and the D is still getting posterized for 30+ a game, every week.

They're not going all-in on Romo. The whole "we expect him to start another 3-5 years" bit is pure Jerry & Stephen bull****. They were throwing out that timeline 3 years ago. Any player selected this draft is as much about Romo's successor as it is Romo & anybody unconvinced of that before yesterday shouldn't be questioning it now. The only difference between Dallas and a team like STL is that having Romo still gives you a hope of being competitive enough to not have to gut out 2 drafts to move up for the top QB prospect.

Watching the press conference and listening to their comments it's clear they're aware of positional draft value, what the peak and decline years are for RBs, where there needs are on defense, and why veteran RB deals typically suck for teams. Still they sat there at 4 with both Ramsey and Zeke on the board and made a conscious decision to take Zeke. To me that sounds like it came down to evaluation and just believe he's the better total package and will improve the team's chances. Plus who really knows what the rest of their board looks like. They may not be that impressed with the RB depth in this class, they might see some depth at CB available to them--remember too they're somewhat particular in what they need.

This is also partly the product of Carr's contract and his willingness to accept a pay cut this year. He certainly wouldn't be much of a factor for me drafting a corner today but clearly they see him differently than I do. I thought they should have cut ties and eaten their losses two years ago.

Anyway, Day 1 is done. Like it or not the pick is RB and I think we can at least agree that we have depth there and have a relatively strong chance to stomp all over fools on in the ground game. We really needed school clothes, but Uncle Jerry bought us an Xbox. Might as well enjoy the Xbox.

Now Myles Jack - if he falls to Dallas and they don't pick him (as forgiving as they are with injury issues), then it's got to be really bad. Curious to see how that shapes up. But were I another franchise and saw Jerry pass on him here I'd be terrified of using a 2nd rounder on him at all.

QB still in play but the press conference led me to believe--they didn't say outright just the vibe--that Lynch was the only remaining QBOTF candidate on their board. Others might be interesting #2-type candidates which is okay enough but I think you're talking 3rd or 4th for those. They clearly missed on the one they really wanted from what I could tell.

Which all means I think they're just going to stroll along pickup up BPAs with a preference for defense. Could really be anything now outside of RB though. They can target a little for need here at 34 but after that whatever talent is there is what they'll take.

Just don't take Connor Cook. He is the definition of overvalued QB. Using a second rd pick on a guy that at best becomes a guy that is in the 20-25 range of starting qb's is bananas.

Wtf!!!! Take a guy with 3rd pick in second round that won't even see the field this year. Makes no sense.

Man, I could kinda defend the Zeke pick. But Smith at 34 is embarrassingly bad... No words.

Ramsey and Myles Jack or a RB and a guy who might never see the field.

Supposedly they're way less concerned about Smith's injury than Jack's. Still, this is a pick that a team in total rebuild mode would make, not a team that's (supposedly) trying to win now.

The Elliott pick makes me think they wanted to go for it while Romo was still healthy. This pick is the opposite of that. The whole defense consists of glass, road cones, and a blocking sled (I know, I'm mad). How does this pick fix that especially when there is a percentage greater than 0 that he may never play a down.

Well, the past couple drafts have been relatively solid. A regression to the mean was inevitable for Jerry.
