Garrett more or less said he's still a project and needs some development, which gels with what people were saying at draft time. OL is one of those areas that can take even a great prospect a couple seasons to get acclimated. Overall we've been pretty fortunate with Smith, Kowalski & even Nagy (pre-injury) as far as o-line rookies this year, especially with such a short offseason. Tough for those guys just walking into the league facing the types of players they do week in and week out. Lots of upside with this crew but it will take some time to get dividends.
With Felix you definitely have to consider the line, but very good backs will occasionally make things happen with poor support. Also his home-run style looks better on paper in YPA than it really is. Break off a 20-yard run and then go 0-3 trying to pick up a 3rd & short and you'll have a good YPA. Those hard short-yardage situations is what we really need and I'd like to see more of that. His health is factor but that's part of the game too. Not that I'd bench him or w/e but I don't consider him a proven #1 yet imo. Would like to see him break 1k yards and put up 7-8 rush TDs at some point in his contract, convert more etc.
I think Felix has actually done a good job this year turning losses into positive yards. The reason he hasnt been able to do this in short ydg situations is that you basically have to go straight ahead whereas the other plays he can go lateral and then upfield. I hope that makes sense
Yeah I know, but you could say that about a few guys. Looks like we're going to have to make do with 2 backs this weekend. I guess the fullback is the emergency guy. Either that or we're running a lot of heavy 3-TE sets lol.
Tashard had to go, really he shouldn't have even been on the roster this year. With him being banged up and Carter getting activated it's kind of a no-brainer now, still I bet that Daniel Loper and Jesse Holley were relieved to hear it wasn't them. Ogletree too for that matter.
Still not crazy about Buehler, but I think if he can play well he's more valuable than Tashard. This Bailey kid has been money all year on FGs but his leg's weak, his top range is supposedly about 55 yards, and his kickoffs suck. We're one of the worst in the league there.
Marty B I imagine is gone after this season. Seems like they extended everyone they intended to. They probably talked with Spencer and Brady James, maybe the McBriar too, but I think they're worth more to some other team than Jerry will pay. Though Abe Elam seems like a guy I'd like to hang on to and Jenkins has been pretty good. But whatever it's Eagles today bitch
I'd love to keep Spencer, he just really feels like one of those guys who will get massively overpaid by some team thinking he can be a #1 pass rusher.
Butlers appears to be a good pass rusher but I dont think he holds up against the run which is really where Spencers value is. Offenses literally game plan on not running at him.
Spencer isn't an All Pro but still a little underrated. Those guys are usually measured in sacks but he gives up basically nothing against the run. If only he were a little better getting to the QB. Butler is a little better at rushing but a big downgrade vs the run. He's probably the option next year so hoping for the best.
