That 7th rd TE keeps popping up. Swaim...I thought he was supposed to be a blocking TE? Doesn't look it. Seems like a lock to make the team...though he must be getting a ton of reps as Hanna and Escobar have missed time.

They gave up next year's 6th to get him too. I remember it seemed kind of strange to do that after just spending two other late 7th round picks just before him, but whatever NBD. Find a 6th or 7th worth a roster spot and it's a win.

This draft class seems to have had a decent offseason if reports and a couple preseason games mean anything. Smith, Gregory, Wilson (!), Collins, Swaim. Russell looks like he's going to make it too. Green's probably redshirting and they could use a better swing tackle so that sucks a little, but they should be able to manage well enough with the oline so long as Tyron stays healthy.

Not sure about Whitehead or Gibson. That LB hasn't played and probably another redshirt if he sticks. Still wishing one of these names was a halfback.

Will watch again but didn't see much else catching my eye in the bottom 40. I'm trying to figure out who the one or two Donald Hawkins's are who inexplicably make it and the pet cats who don't. No clue.

People kept saying Swaim was a blocking TE because he didn't catch passes in college. He didn't catch passes in college because UT had intramural level QB's playing QB.

He's a mediocre blocker at best, but he has ball skills. I have no idea why we gave up a 6th for him, but he'll likely make the team for ST purposes I guess.

Let's be honest Texas had a TE playing qb

This just happened but it sounds like Scandrick's likely headed to IR for the year with an ACL tear. Was following the live feed, looked bad. Carted off, prayer circles and the whole bit.

Next up, Tyler Patmon. Well Byron Jones I guess but Patmon's had a good camp.

Yeah it's official. Just hope it's not the end of his career. Even if he does recover there's still a good chance he's still not right even next year.

It will have to affect their plans this coming offseason a lot...for the moment he's the only proven secondary guy they have penciled in for the long-term. It's Claiborne's last season, and there's virtually no way they're paying Carr $14m next year either. Both safeties have one year left.

For the season they still have a shot to be okayish in the secondary. People have been chirping about Patmon, they chose to hold on to Carr at his ridiculous cost, and they spent a Rd 1 on Byron Jones. And even Claiborne is supposed to be healthy at the moment...I'm sure he's still a scrub, but that's better than a hurt scrub.

Most projections had them going heavy at CB with 6 (oh and this includes Corey White having a great showing which nobody expected). Cowboys have been going 4-5 corners & I think now they have a clear 5.

I guess the "Byron Jones as safety insurance" idea is probably over for now too. Scandrick's roster spot probably winds up making room for a 4th corner they probably weren't going to carry. So maybe Danny McCray sticks to help on special teams.

I'm actually still in shock that someone's season end before Lee's.

So by all accounts our coaching staff is going to have a hard time picking the final Dlinemen because so many were so good. Who would have thought that a year ago?
Sadly don't have that problem in the secondary or at LB, but hey, it's a start.

Something also tells me this is finally the year they find a way to use Escobar. I mean it tips your hand when he's on the field period, but in 2nd and long and 3rd and long I think they're going to use him a lot more. Still not worth where we drafted him yet, but would be nice to see him catch 6-7 TD's this year.

Hawks are shopping Christine Michael. Would be an interesting low risk RB option for us who isn't a million years old...

He's a busted 2nd-round pick they're looking to dump. Guy has hardly any play in two seasons and sucks on special teams. They apparently think so little of him they just inked a 34-year-old Fred Jackson. And they lost Turbin and they save very little cap space. So basically SEA think he's completely worthless.

Montee Ball same thing with his 2.1 ypc preseason and weak season last year, Broncos tossing him basically for sucking, though at least he has a tiny bit more experience.

Trading anything but a cond 7th or a gonna-cut-anyway veteran for either seems meh as opposed to a waiver claim, IF that's worth doing. Can they offer more than DMC/Randle/Dunbar, who are experienced and in the system? If no, then there's not much point and you're spinning wheels.

I don't think their RB group is strong enough to justify 4 halfbacks anyway. If they had a killer & diverse group and special teams studs maybe...for now if they can't acquire a good veteran seems just as well to roll with these three and grab an emergency replacement if/when needed.

The weird thing is he's NEVER seen the field. He must blow in practice, because honestly he's never been given the carries to even fail with.

Man reading this sent a chill down my spine:

So this is where the Cowboys are in the secondary without Scandrick. Carr starts at left corner, Claiborne right. Patmon comes into the slot on the nickel. Jones backs up both outside corner spots, plays in the slot on the dime head up on the tight end and backs up at safety. White is the backup slot, one of the backup outside corners and a backup at safety, too.

Thank god we might have a pass rush, because godaaaaaamn

So apparently they are trading a conditional pick to Seattle for that Michael RB. Not sure how he fits, but sure why not
