The only thing you can say with any certainty about the Cowboys at this point is that they're not going winless or undefeated. That, and they're basically healthy. 87.5 percent of the regular season has yet to be played and it doesn't look as if anybody's really settled in yet.

It's not just the division, it's the entire league. Only two weeks have been played and the number of undefeated teams is already down to 7, and that's going to drop to 6 tonight. And of those only Houston and San Fran look convincing, plus maybe whoever wins MNF.

More calm today. 1-1 pretty reasonable having to play two tough teams on the road to open the season. Will lose my **** if theres more mistakes on Sunday from the special teams however.

TB secondary just got shredded for over 500 yards. Time to step it up DEZ.

Don't even care just stay healthy and come up with a W.

Offensive line/penalties are horribad but a win is a win. Our secondary is pretty salty. Mike Jenkins still usable and DEZ had an imprint on the game.

Screw the year man. Ruptured Achilles for a DB is a big freaking deal. I *could* see that being he kind of thing he's never 100% back from and it's not like he had a ton of room to spare talent wise.

so i couldnt watch today, had to work

seems like the WRs and Witten sucked again yet Romo still played well? guess it was an ugly game all around.

Sucks about Church but at there are certainly better players that could have been lost. Going to have to do something at safety this week for sure but I don't know there's anyone even remotely usable out there. Maybe they can cobble some kind of configuration together with their corners.

Silva getting his chance it looks like. Would be nice for Matt Johnson to contribute a little something too. Meh. It's bad.

Romo played pretty meh. An INT(that was half his fault) and two fumbles(one his fault, one he just got killed).

The OL was just awful awful. 2 FS, 2 holding on Free. Tyron had a FS. Witten had a FS.

Whatever, I'll take the W and the division lead gratefully. Better practice hard this week though.

I know I previously said to give this oline more time but I would be very surprised if Romo lasts the whole year. Doug Free is looking a lot like Flozell his last year.

I think best option to replace Church would be Scandrick at safety and go Carr Jenkins and Claiborne at corner.

Outside of the offensive line being god awful, concerning we aren't forcing more turnovers. Should be slight favorites to start 3-1 though.

Scandrick plays a sort of hybrid role at times but he needs to be left where he is. They've got Jenkins doing a couple things but ultimately I don't see it working.

With McCray and Sensabaugh dinged up and Matt Johnson a no show, they really need a street vet here. I just don't have any idea who, everyone left out there you've heard of can't pass a physical and I don't see any starters. The guys on hand may actually be the best starting option available. There are 15-16 practice squad safeties (AoA included) floating around the league for depth, but really they're in a bad spot.

Well the offensive line isn't as bad as I thought it would be. IT'S WORSE. Romo got lit up a few times. At first I was mad at Romo for his picks/fumbles, then I remembered that he's probably constantly hearing footsteps. Poor guy is in a lose-lose situation imho. It's a lock we draft 2 Olinemen next year right?

Is Witten playing hurt? Does anyone remember the last time he had 2 false starts in a game? Ever?

Defense is beastly. Granted Tampa did itself no favors with the playcalling, but still across 3 weeks, I think the consensus is the D is vastly improved. Games should generally be there to win if the offense can wake the eff up.

I'd like to see Murray turn up field a bit more sometimes. Dude loves his east-west, maybe also because the oline isn't opening much up. But sometimes he's gotta turn up field. Still on a few plays I loved seeing him do just that, and lower the boom on a few people.

Biggest positive on the day for me: DEZ!

That's something to build on.

Defense did well but needs to get a few players back. Three games and still no sign of Ratliff. Add to that Coleman & Sensabaugh both missed the last game, and now Church is down.

Offense though... there are line issues for sure but even factoring that in, Romo doesn't look quite right. His passes are all over the place even when he has time, and he's making poor decisions. And this receiving crew has been in place for years and they're not in any kind of rhythm at all.

Ogletree is looking okay. Even after putting up one catch last week he's still on pace for a 75 reception, 1,000-yard season. Hopefully he can maintain that.

I'm as big a Witten fan as there is, but it sure seems like he is hurting the team right now. I admire his warrior-like determination to play, but is Jason Witten at 70% really a better option than John Phillips or James Hanna?
Dallas Cowboys 2021: Offense and some Other Guys Quote

Probably. John Phillips hasn't really stood out at all since his 2010 camp, back before his injury, and couldn't beat out Bennett last year. Hanna didn't even look as if he was going to make the team for a while. And remember they went after Kellen Davis too and weren't able to get him signed. You never really know with backup tight ends, even the starters only get so many snaps, but still.

As far as Witten, I think he's going to be fine. Every player goes through rough spots, his are just so much more noticeable because of how insanely consistent and healthy he's always been in comparison. It would take a lot more than 3 games for me to even think about sitting him. Especially without any reason to think there's a better option. I mean he'd have to be Seahawks-game bad through half the season before I'd do anything different. If he's still hurt more than we know that's one thing, but aside from that you don't just bench All Pros after a bad few games.

If anyone has NFL Game Rewind check out Romo's throws so far this season. They're really off and it's not all the o-line or drops. The ball looks different in the air, accuracy doesn't look like usual, not hitting guys in stride that well or in the right spot. His motion doesn't look different but even with protection he looks jumpy or something.

Weird what happens after you take a few shots to the ribs. Definitely hasn't been in a rhythm yet but wasn't sure if it was because his safety blanket in Witten was dropping every other ball.

As others have mentioned, he is taking monster shots, and is probably spending 50% of the time counting in his head and worrying about his life. I wouldn't throw good balls either if I thought my life was always in danger.

Question for someone with rewind of the game on DVR.

On the second fumble, was that a 3 man rush against a 5 man line where two guys basically ran through our line? I was at the game, and never got to see a replay.
