High ankle sprains are usually 2-4 weeks, then several weeks of them not playing 100% of re-injuring themselves. Blehhhhhhhhhhh.

So who's the #3 WR? Ogletree or Harris?

Ratliff thing is annoying. Running bad we are.

100% Ogletree. Harris may not even make the team.

Article by the Cowboys beat writer saying Harris is probably 100% to make the team. I have no opinion one way or the other.

Lol preseason and all but i don't see any way Harris doesn't make it.

Hope Beasley makes it too. Kid has heart. 5th WRs have to be able to play special teams?

Yeah, I guess the ESPNDallas guys changed their minds after last night. They were saying he may not make it during the chat.

Either way it's really really likely to be Ogletree.

Harris was kind of fringe but right now I think he's in. The biggest reason is that he's a useful special teamer, and he's played well. It's certainly helped him in that Andre Holmes and Radway have dropped off the Earth as well.

Remember you need about 4-5 guys who are core special teams guys, meaning they can't get a lot of action on offense or defense and get burned out. After subtracting all of the "protected" starters and fat linemen there's only so many left to choose from, and they're preferably backup defensive players. That's why McCray sticks around, why I have Butler and Silva making it too. Because of the numbers you still need some offensive guys on ST which is why Harris is more valuable than he might seem (and why a guy like Beasley might be less so). So I think Ogletree and Harris both make it, with Ogletree the #3 and Harris playing mostly ST. If Ogletree played ST better you might reverse that.

The biggest question for me is Coale. He's a 5th-round pick who hasn't played or practiced much. If he makes the team it's purely on potential. I'd rather go one short on the o-line since the bottom of that lineup is weak.

lol Dez rules

so what's the deal with the standing room tickets to cowboys game. get a decent view of the game or is it just better to fork out more money for a seat?

Fork out the money for the seat. If you happen to get there super early and get on the rail you'll have a decent view. But that means you never leave your spot to piss or get a beer or 18$ nachos or whatever.

Word, was afraid that was the case.

was looking at the Dal Phi Sunday night game but idk if I can fork out 150 for a ticket. Would be flying in from Dulles on Sunday + hotel + ticket = fml haha. Im assuming there isnt really a bad seat in the house (like, 400 level still decent?)

Prices go down closer to the game usually and if they start losing they go down a lot

that seems risky because id obv want to book the flight in advance. worst case is it hard to find a scalper for a night game/is it a lock to sell out basically?

i mean the game is in december so hypothetically they could be out of it by then

Cowboys cut 8 players on Monday: WR Radway, OT Adcock, OT Novikoff, RB Williams, WR Little, CB Wilson, PK Alvarado and TE Flaherty

LB Caleb McSurdy and WR Donavon Kemp waived/injured and will go to IR. Guard/center Kevin Kowalski moved to PUP and will miss first 6 weeks.
There should have been one more cut today by my count. [EDIT: It was Hughlett, the "other" long snapper.]

No real surprises anywhere.

Pats cut both Gaffney and Stallworth.

You can always get tickets off stub hub afaik. Might be a high price if the cowboys are good this year though. Or it might be like $60 if they blow

Gaffney have the best relationship with Dallas or their fanbase, but when has that ever stopped Jerry. Of more concern is that the guy plays a lot out of the slot now, but so does Austin, and now Beasley. Not that he can't line up outside but I'd think primarily outside guy would be of more interest.

And it comes down to how bad they want to keep Coale and Beasley. Ogletree and Harris I think have done enough to make the team, and they're not going 7 deep. I don't think Beasley can make it to the practice squad either. Those Amndola types tend to get picked up.

I dont think there is any chance beasley or adrian hamilton make it through waivers to the practice squad and those are the two names popping up that they would try with. Id rather they do it with wilber and geathers. Also please put Coale on the pup or even ir list.

What do you guys think we should do with Matt Johnson?

I tried to outsmart everyone and took Ogletree with my last pick. I expect to be dropping him when bye's start, lol.

So jerry is going to be GM till he dies, right?

I don't think Hamilton clears waivers either and with the way he's played he's earned a spot. Add to that Wilber is still out, Spencer's gone after the season, and Butler is on the last year of his deal. 3-4 OLB's are too valuable in this league and we're going to need some. Short some other position where we're weak. If the o-line is so bad then it doesn't make any sense to carry ten of them on the roster. Let an Arkin, McQ or Leary go and use the spot on someone you like who can play on teams as well. If guards get hurt pick someone up off the street, it's not like they'd be much worse than the bottom of the oline group anyway.

Beasley has a good chance but it comes down to what he can do (or can't do) on special teams. If they sign a receiver he gets bumped. Ogletree is frustrating and inconsistent but without adding anyone else I think he makes it, and Harris as well, and both have some experience in this system now. An injury tonight or a FA signing can change all of that quickly though.

Coale I don't know. The must have liked him to spend a 5th on him and they haven't got much of a chance to see what he can do. If they still think he has potential and are willing to wait on it then maybe. Personally I don't think a 5th rounder is too high to cut if he's not clearly among the top 6. Then again, Holmes picked a bad time to vanish and get hurt.

Matt Johnson isn't likely to be cut. There's not much safety depth and Church isn't proven. Even if some FA fell out of the sky you'd think McCray or Silva would be a more likely to go. In fact his hamstring situation leads me to think they go 5 deep on safety and all three stick.

Also Mat McBriar will be cut by the Eagles.

Kyle Wilber? He's not going anywhere. He missed a lot of practice is all. Plus it's just a broken thumb, he might be returning to practice here in a week. I'd be surprised if they were even considering it. Geathers is another story. He looks the part but doesn't show it on the field.

Jenkins activated off PUP list, gonna resume practice. Maybe he can play by week 2 or 3.

Didn't see much of anything in that game to change my mind other than Tanner solidifying his spot. McGee and Carpenter aren't worth keeping. Arkin looked worse at guard, he was just getting completely mowed down. None of the fringe receivers did anything but then again with two bad QBs they didn't get that much of a chance.

Lemon had a nice play, Crawford and Butler looked good. Also, Jenkins being off of the PuP list eligible to return to practice Saturday is good news though he will have some rust, but just having him is a plus since he doesn't need to start. Witten and Wilber may also be back Saturday. Team is getting healthy at the right time and hopefully that continues.

Punter is of some concern. Jones didn't do well and we might be working out McBriar and some other veterans this weekend. Can probably cross TE off of the shopping list and focus on o-line vets and see what receivers get cut. As a whole I've seen the team enter the season in far worse shape than they are right now... just hoping they can snag a decent interior guy or two from somewhere.
