Yeah. Giants losing gives us a much better chance of chopping with them later and still winning the division. That's a big plus.

For now all I'm thinking about is getting through Miami. The same Miami who have now blown out their last 3 opponents and allowed no more than 9 points to any of them, and very nearly beat the Giants the week before. They clearly aren't sucking for Luck so Dallas needs to put the work in this week and be ready.

Did anyone else think Dez basically pussed out of two passes yesterday that both almost cost us?

One was a deep pass over the middle, one DB coming from both sides, Dez just gives up and the ball falls in the middle.

The other was the short little slant on like the 3 yard line we ran before the Robinson TD. DB was coming at him and he just didn't even go after the ball.

Really getting tired of him.

Dez had left the game earlier with what I deduced was a wrist injury and I believe that impacted him the rest of the game

Anyone who goes to a game should watch him and see if he has Randy Moss syndrome (not going hard on every play). He certainly seems like a competitor when he gets the ball though but I think with Miles out he is just getting doubled all the time.

I dont understand why they dont try to throw more quick out/screen type passes to him. He usually has a big cushion from the DB and he is a bitch to tackle

According to Roto, the Cowboys put a claim in for Orton (obv KC got him though). Why would they do that? I guess Kitna is done so Orton could've been the primary backup over McGee, but isn't 2.7 MIL kinda expensive for a backup for half a season?

I'd say it's at least partially as a blocker. They're going to be prime competition for WC spot.

ah true, hadnt thought of that

I'm not surprised that Dallas put in a waiver for Orton, but I don't like the decision for a few reasons:

First, because we have an unusual situation that allows teams to roll unused cap funds into the next season, and next year we'll need all we can get.

Second, I think if Romo goes down for any length of time this season, the Cowboys are done. I don't care if it's Orton, Kitna, or McGee stepping in, the team is too borderline to take a hit like that. Maybe if they were 8-2 and had more breathing room I could see it. Right now it's all they can do to stay above .500. And yes, I understand that Kitna is hurt.

Third, taking Orton to block Chicago is a terrible reason. If you make roster moves it should be to make your own team better, not to make other teams worse. Sure maybe Chicago does a little worse if you take their best hope at QB, but that doesn't do anything about Atlanta, NYG, the Lions, Philly, Tampa, etc. Get a player that can help you win, not help others lose. Cowboys still need to beat people and win games, they do that and everything else works out just fine.

And just being up front about it, screw the wild card. If we can't take the division from here then we're probably not good enough to be a factor in the playoffs even if we do wild card in. We need to actually be better than teams like Philly and the Giants for that, not just look better on paper or just have a better record.

I wonder if thats what Green Bay thought last year

Awesome last few weeks. Cowboys mediocre at one too many positions. Gotta hope Austin comes back and lights it up.

Going to enjoy this one though. Romo gets the haters furious.

They were playin on 3 days rest vs two hard hitting teams in a row so I wouldnt put too much into this game. Allan Ball sucks and im afraid teams will just use spread sets against us down the road.

Where is Dez Bryant? I know hes getting double covered but so is Marshall, Calvin, Nicks. This kid needs to do more.

Pretty proud of Romo for pulling it together today. I have no idea wtf happened on the first pick, but I'll 50% blame Marty B cuz I can. But the second one was just an awful pass.

would reeeeally like to see miles, fiametta & jenkins back

Granted Murray is grinding away and robinson's doing a good job, but having those guys back could only help us. And would be nice to see a few 3 WR sets with Witten and then Murray out of the backfield, would be tough to stop if Romo has a chance to throw (with Miles back ldo)

I'd like to see Miles back and see them cut Dez' snaps(not majorly). But I'm sure others disagree.

Cut down on his snaps a little, let him do punt returns.

I'm just tired of him completely disappearing for stretches. He's either getting tired, doesn't know all the plays, or defenses are outsmarting him.

Hes seeing a lot of double coverage so romo is throwing away from him which makes sense. I think its on both of them.

Meh, I don't really buy this. He isn't a rookie anymore, he's supposed to be a physical freak. He should be able to beat double coverage on occasion.

I think he just messes up a lot of reads/plays so Romo won't bother if he's double covered. There's a difference between not being open, due to double coverage, and your QB not trusting you.

Well thats pretty much what i meant. I eluded to him not beating double coverage in an earlier post. If you look during a lot of passing plays romo doesnt even look his way. Im not sure if coverage dictates this before the snap or its just the play call. The fact that Romo seems to have better chemistry with Robinson, who despite the results is obviously not the better receiver, is frustrating. Plus i hav dez on my fantasy team

hmm, i saw it as the opposite

Marty B pass was well underthrown and the Laurent pass was supposed to be back shoulder but Laurent never got his head around, imo

Dez is making a solid contribution it's just far from what is expected of his talent. As soon as Miles returns I think he needs to be the full-time punt returner because we need to get as much value out of him as possible. I know I've said it before but at this point he's just not an elite superstar that warrants being over-protective. Same now with Felix on kick returns. They're the best two for those jobs and these games are too close.

And yes, Dez needs to beat double coverage. Teams gang up on elite receivers and elite receivers find a way to do it, that's partly what makes them elite. As it is he's got Robinson, Witten, and a good back out there to take some heat off. Fact is he's just not getting open enough, often enough. A lot of the passes he does grab are risky throws by Romo if anything, typically he's got a defender right on him.

This kind of poses an interesting question when Miles comes back to normal if Robinson keeps up, and Dez doesn't step up more. More 3WR sets would be nice, but our FB was doing great with Murray, and certainly you want Witten out there as much as possible, so one of those WRs is going to lose some playing time.

ive already noticed that a lot of the 1 WR sets have been with Robinson and not Dez the last couple games

Roto is thinking Fiametta may be out for the season with his nausea, they cant pin point whats wrong so they are assuming they are post-concussion symptoms

That's sucks for Fiametta.

Man, I really love Robinson. He's on with Ben and Skin right now and he's just such a legit guy. He's like the anti Dez Bryant.

I guess it's time to call up Chapas or bring someone in then, because having a real FB helped us a ton. Send AoA back to the practice squad.

Also word is Kitna could be done. To me that suggests we're going with two QBs or possibly signing a young project off of someone else's practice squad. Kit was retiring anyway so McGee just moves into the #2 slot 5 games earlier than planned.
