re: Keith Brooking

I think that was a great move for y'all.

In Atlanta, we've asked him to be our defensive super-duper star, which he was for a while. But at this point in his career, he's simply a very good 2-down LB.

With the pressure of being the face of the defense as a local kid off him, I think he'll do very well in Dallas.

He's also an excellent chemistry guy. His leadership and work ethic will resonate through a locker room that sorely needs it from the first day of training camp.

But good luck getting better than 3rd in that division :/

I'm going to go on a stadium tour when I get back from the WSOP. If anyone wants to go along, let me know.

BUMP for Training Camp beginning today.

Jerry says this team will be better because the new stadium will provide us inspiration, AWESOME.

Courtney Brown has been moved to corner, and looked good in first practice. He will prob be CB #4.

This injury he has this year is basically identical to the one that killed the first half of last season for him. Slight issue in the groin area, day to day, missing pre-season games as a precaution...meh...super scary imo.

His contract is a freaking whale if he gets hurt every year too.

Does anyone know if tonight's game at 10 pm EST is televised? I can't seem to find out.

Probably nowhere, since ESPN is covering a game nationally.

I'm sure you can catch it on the interwebs.

If it makes you feel better though, NFL Network is showing every single pre-season game at some point.

Pretty meh first half. Romo and company looked okay. Our second team OL is just freaking terrible. Second team D didn't look good either. We essentially have absolutely no depth anywhere.

Also, McFadden is fast.

Yeah there's been suspicions of OL depth problems reported on the official site throughout camp. I think it's safe to say those are now confirmed.

Kitna and McGee looked pretty meh.

Can't complain too much about the starters though, particularly Hurd. I think its safe to say he should get the #3 spot and def has the potential to leapfrog Crayton imo.

Crayton is the #2. Austin si the #3. The problem with Hurd>Austin is that they are such different players. RW11 and Crayton are both possession receivers. So in theory, if he jumps someone it also means Austin moved up to #2.

I have tons of thoughts about last night, but it pretty much all revolves around our lack of depth. I'll post more later, especially if some more people find this thread.

Hoping to see something positive tonight, aside from the new home.

The 'Boys looked sharp on both sides of the ball. As far as youngsters, I was pretty impressed with Ogletree in the second half.

Depends on what you mean by suck.

It's not loud, because it's ****ing enormous. But then again, for the regular season games we're going to have 100K people in there, so it should be better. The rest of the stadium is ridiculously badass in every conceivable way. I was completely impressed, and I came in with pretty tempered expectations.

The TV screen, I just have no idea about. They had McBriar punt tons of times and measured them before placing the TV. The punts aren't going to hit the screen when they are being punted as normal punts, it's just going to be on higher punts like when you're trying to pin a team deep from farther down field. So it's just, kind of a cluster ****, instead of a complete cluster ****.

Ogletree probably moved ahead of Stanback tonight with his performance, especially if Stanback continues to have health issues. I'm not sure how I feel about that though. Ogletree is definitely a low ceiling kind of guy, maybe Patrick Crayton is his VERY top ceiling. Stanback is big, fast as hell, and a ridiculous athlete. I always had pipe dreams that he could be a REALLY good return/stretch the field kind of guy.

Jenkins hurt his ankle again, nay.

Martellus Bennett is a ****ing beast. He's probably one of the 5 best receiving tight ends in the league this year. He's even a mediocre blocker. Teams trying to stop the Dual TE + Felix lineup are going to have some major issues if everyone stays healthy.

I was definitely happy with the Defense tonight. Offense looked good too. I'll echo what's been said about Ogletree... hope to see more of him in the next 2 games, maybe even in a slot role in 5 wide sets with the first team. Really liked Bennett, who was clearly the best player on the field when both teams had their backups in.

Special teams left a lot to be desired. McBriar kicked well, but there were some breakdowns, and still a few too many dumb penalties (this goes for all parts of the team though).

I almost feel bad for Coach DeCamillas(SP?). His entire special teams is so young, we're just going to have penalties...I don't see any way around it.

What the **** is up with the dropped punts though? 3 in two games? Crayton has always been super lame, but super reliable back there and even he had one tonight.

When I see Crayton back there, I hope he fair catches every punt. It sounds stupid, but I figure that avoids dumb mistakes.

Watkins ran 30 yards out of bounds to get the unsportsman-like penalty on kick coverage. Of course the good return by Austin to open the game was negated by a hold as well. new coach or not, it's been a hallmark of this team the last few years to get penalties in this area.
