I'm not sold on Barron in the slightest. We need Columbo (and Kosier) back in a hurry.

Barron has looked pretty bad this preseason. He has shown more in the past than lately, hopefully he can get things squared away come game time.

I'm more worried about guard than the tackles. LD is overrated, Kosier's dinged up, and we don't have anyone else that can play. Holland is a question mark, but he ranges from mediocre to terrible and didn't have a great preseason either.

I'm not sure about what's going on long-term at guard. Guys are getting up there, Holland isn't the future, and we don't really have any prospects in the pipeline other than a practice squadder, maybe Costa. But usually this situation dictates that you pay a FA or trade for someone.

Ball, Free & Buehler showed up in camp at least. Hope they can handle the season.

That was sick. The offensive playcalling sucks too.

We're in real trouble without the starting 5 OL (as predicted). Pray the kicker just had a freak moment like his 1st preseason kick. These new rookies on special teams will take some time to acclimate.

But, heartbreaking loss aside, there was a lot of good signs. The defense was outstanding, and the offense could move the ball well enough it was just that the penalties and couple freak bonehead plays that killed them. They ran well, Romo threw well, Dez contributed, Miles blew it up. Don't think other teams can count on missed kicks, 7 point gifts, and Witten blocking every week.

It's the Beast, there's going to be games like this every year. Just be thankful our missing lineman will be back shortly, then we can get Barron off the field and get Witten out of pass protection.

Lol don't feel bad.. being a former first round pick and 5 year vet, he should give us depth and should challenge for the starting job. But he was cut from the RAMS for a reason.. BUST. I honestly don't know what Jerry was thinking, beyond the fact that Carpenter was expendable and we needed more O-line help. But ffs there had to be someone in FA better than him.

Next four are @HOU, bye, TEN, @MIN, NYG. Skins are up on Houston. Would like to go into the bye 1-2, and if they can pull it together I don't think any of the rest are out of reach at all.

They're going to need to spark this run game in a hurry though, and I hope Jenkins & Witten are alright because we don't have any other corners or TEs. Pass defense missing as bad as the kicker. Lots of issues here.

Looks pretty bad based on what we've seen, no question. Still, 0-2 isn't quite 0-12, and even as sloppy as they look they're not getting blown out. See how these next four go.

Given what they've looked like so far though, I wouldn't put any money on them.

Well, the irony is it looks like the key to beat Houston is to throw at will. They seem powerless to stop Washington, and they gave up a ton to Manning in their win. So maybe that can work in Dallas's favor. Though it could be a real shootout if the secondary is banged up.

I've decided to refer to Wade Phillips as Barney the Dinosaur. For some reason I just heard his voice when Wade gave his usual stupid simple answers in the postgame. His mannerisms on the sideline seem like Barney's too.

My guess is Buheler gets one more week, but if he misses again next week, we'll see a few kickers in town during the bye.

Still, this team is a hot mess right now.

Yeah they are. But, if nothing else, these other teams we're looking at are certainly showing some holes of their own. Hopefully Peyton will be > Eli tonight and help us a tiny bit with the division side of things.

The Jenkins situation is what really concerns me right this second though. That's just not a guy we can afford to lose with the WRs in this division.

Anyone feel like by not letting any RB sort of be the feature back, none of them get into any kind of a groove?

Also can we just let Dez be the #2 already, and see what the kid can do with the ball in his hands downfield? I don't think it's much to ask.

I'd ask for a decrease in mental mistakes, penalties, and coverage gaffs on D, but I know I'm not going to see that this week.

Not really. They ran very well last year overall with the same personnel & plan and with Barger dinged up.

I don't think that anyone questions his upside vs Roy, but he seems to need more work learning the offense just yet. He's been out of position a few times and things along those lines. Nothing major, he is a rookie who missed a ton of camp so it's to be expected. But he can handle returns and looks like he can catch anything and looks like a prototype #1 in the making.

Have to say Roy has been playing pretty well 3 games in. He still has had some Roy moments, but he seems to be getting open and (more importantly) catching the football and making clutch plays. Unfortuntely I don't see that holding up for very long given his history, but while Dez is working his way in it's certainly good to see some production out of him. I think RW can thank Miles and Witten for taking the heat off + the Texans terrible pass defense, but still.

At least be thankful no one's getting suspended for PEDs.

Meanwhile, NYG got drilled by the Titans, and WAS is down 1 in a close game vs STL at the half. Cowboys are definitely in it given what the rest of the Beast is showing so far, but that's not saying all that much.

They're still the same team they were last year though. Good roster but very sloppy and inconsistent. Not things you can erase in a bye week, but hopefully they can make a couple helpful tweaks which could be enough for a postseason.

Good for Roy for putting Michael Irvin in his place. Keep using the billboard material big dog! Maybe Irvin was trying to motivate him?

Meanwhile wow, Dez was a few inches here and there from busting huge plays. He could be our version of DJax soon.

I still think Felix didn't get used well in this game. Also glad the bye is here, Witten needs a break! I'd say Ware needs a break, but he could play 22 games and not miss a beat. What a freak.

This team needs less coverage and more wins.

Funny how well Doug Free has been playing against good matchups, he was the big concern going in to the season. LOL he's the best lineman we have so far, go figure. Better ready that contract money I guess.

Ya that, and start drafting some more Oline.

I think it's painfully clear they need to pick up at least two high oline prospects and 1 corner this next draft. Probably a DE or two might be needed as well, depending on who they re-sign.

The o-line as you see it now (with Holland and Free) is probably who's starting in 2011. Kosier with be gone so there's a premium on guard with Lolland and Davis out there, then there are tackle needs, then probably corner. If any of the first three picks are a QB, WR, TE, RB or LB, it's just going to be a massive facepalm. I'm all for the BPA philosophy but no sense taking a player if you're just going to bury on the depth chart.

Safety might be an issue again, but with all those guys back there hopefully we can find 2 that are usable. Sensabaugh's contract expires this year, as does Alan Ball's, so that's something to keep a close eye on. Hopefully we luck out with Hamlin and Church which would make things very easy. AoA maybe, if they figure out what to do with him. I don't get the impression they're dying to re-sign Sensabaugh or Ball based on their moves this offseason.
