I don’t think the oline is in decline either, I think they burned themselves holding on to Doug Free too long. He walked and They got caught without enough quality tackles. Patch LG up and find a credible swing and people will go right back to talking about how dominant they are. They’re a young group with as much upside as anybody

I'm trying to think where we don't need to draft someone. C/T/RG, QB, RB, kicker...

So they can draft anywhere on Dline, LB, CB, S, LG, WR (any type), TE (Rico seems more focused on rap than football?). That's a lot of holes.

They need a fair bit. I’d definitely add tackle and probably downgrade corner a bit now. DT yes but more so if Irving gets snapped up. And I’d take a good QB prospect anywhere. They’re going to have to do a good job with their picks and a much better job with their value priced free agents though.

Havent really started free agency yet and a decent run of lots of picks. They’ve got enough going on to hope for a good season & we’ve got some hope they won’t do anything dumb.

Just draft good players that aren’t broken, really all I care about. Maybe pick up a better 2019 pick or two

He’s putting somebody out of a job if he stays healthy, but I’m not sure who

Number and term seem right too, so far. Anyway unless someone falls real far, that probably changes draft day a little.

TWill is hurt, so there’s that, though his salary this year is gtd IIRC. And Butler is gone too. I think we can assume Shazier and Beasley both making the roster isn’t very likely.

As far as the draft I think a Rd 1 WR is in play still for sure, but that doesn’t necessarily displace Dez this season even if it happens. They’d just carry 6 there if they had to. They value WR1 super high, and I don’t see them spending it on CB, LT, QB or edge rusher this season. Kind of smell a trade up

I see a move up to get Calvin Ridley in our future.

Meh?

6 QBs and 1 RB locked to go in the top 12-13. Chubb, Nelson, James, Minkah-F, Smith, Payne all HAVE to go in the top 17-18.

And then honestly how far behind is Courtland Sutton? Seems to me like you gamble that he's there at 19, and/or honestly the WR's in round 2 won't be that big a drop.

But dats me. Trading up in a mediocre WR class where you've got good equity to get him anyway sounds so lol Jerry. Plus you've got such a nice shot to get this big body later: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/equani...6-dbdbfff5cbea

Oh, I don’t think it’s a particularly great idea either.

But like you said...

This team has a tendency to really screw up at WR. For once I hope they look at themselves in the mirror and ask if they're really up for this. Best improvements in my life were when I realized what I was horrible at, and outsourced it or completely rebuilt it.

They've stopped drafting/signing as many criminals, that was them getting it. Hope that happens here too.

I don’t watch college ball much and don’t put too much stock in predraft evaluations, but if there aren’t any elite WR prospects they wouldn’t be in range for one anyway unless he’s hurt or has a lot of baggage. With TWill hurt they’re clearly in need of an outside guy, possibly both a pick and FA. Rd 1 or 2 seems like a lock

Wonder if some minimum amount to Decker is worth it

Wonder what it would take to get Tyrell Williams out of the bottom of the Chargers depth chart.

He’s an RFA with a 2nd rd tender, doubt Chargers would match an offer. But I’d think a 3rd or 4th wouldn’t be unreasonable. The question is whether you want to sign a guy like that or try your luck in the draft. And if in trade you might have to let him walk unsigned a year later

Forget Decker, plenty of guys to run slot routes on this team. Need somebody who can get it done upfield. He’s deceptively fast though lol

Having looked at it up and down now, the only position I'd be disappointed in them drafting at 19 is WR based on the gap between who's there at 19 and who's there at say 40-50 range. I dunno about it being a reach really, it's more that there's ample opportunity to shore that up later. Same won't be as true at LB/S/CB/DE.

Agreed... Would love to see Roquan Smith somehow drop to 19. Highly doubtful though.

As long as they focus on the next 3-5 years and less on the week one roster I’m down for whatever. I don’t really have an issue moving a pick or two into 2019 either if things don’t line up well with the board.

Will say a lot about Rico if they go TE, which is also squarely in the "need" category if we're talking 3-5 years

They might like him as a prospect but I can’t imagine they’re penciling him into more than a roster spot. He’s not a factor for draft purposes- remember this team has thrown 3 (!) round 2 picks at TE with probably the most reliable, versatile and consistent TE in history on the team at the time.

Wittens old, Hanna’s done, Swaim isn’t even a JAG, and two guys that aren’t far removed from practice squad status. There isn’t one safe bet in the bunch to even be on the team next season let alone prevent a pick. The more I think about it the more I wonder if they take one early.

Tough to find anybody that would wow Cowboy fans though.

He came up a bunch in mocks, seems like a solid prospect who can cover. Some talk about his neck but after the Jaylon pick...I mean can he lift his head? Yes? Okay

Anyway I think they’re not staying put at pick 50. They could get 31 from the Pats without too much trouble, their 2+3 would be a little spewy but it’s probably all they would take that can be offered

He has great size and the instincts look pretty sharp from what I've seen. But there's the neck thing plus the fact that he's only played one year as a starter. Granted, it was a really good year. Still, it feels a little iffy for me.

But what would a Cowboys draft be without a roll-the-dice pick or two?
