Anthony Reyes looks AWFUL. I'm just gonna start tuning into Tribe games in the sixth inning when we're down 7-5 or 9-6 or whatever.

Sick break there, though. Thanks, Lowell!

RHP Adam Miller, the Indians' first draft pick in 2003, had season-ending and career-threatening surgery on his right middle finger.

I'm amazed he lasted this long tbh.

wtf could be so wrong with a finger? gotta be nerve damage or something?

No, it's a common injury. Zumaya had a similar one, IIRC. It's the Flexor Digitorum muscle that attaches to the middle finger. This happens a lot with guys who throw exceedingly fast, like Miller and Zumaya. The middle finger is the last point of release and therefore can be the weak link in the chain.

To strengthen it requires unorthodox training techniques that aren't taught by MLB strength and conditioning coaches. Genius.

Then why was Zumayas only season ending and not ever considered career threatening? Is Zumaya at a greater risk to have it happen again since its happened once?

This is a chronic injury for Miller. Probably the same for Zumaya if it happens again. Yes, he is at a greater risk for it.

For those of you who are in love with him as much as I am, Shapiro is on the STO broadcast right now talking about Pronk, LaPorta, and other good stuff.

Im here as a Tiger fan here to offer a proposal. We both have a reallllly small shot at winning the division this year. I think ours is better, obviously, but not by much. I say well give you Cabrera/Verlander/Granderson/whoever else you want for this year...Next year we get to borrow Sizemore/Lee/Carmona etc etc.

Interested?

^^

7-7 in the 2nd was fun...

that said, it's 5-2 right now, and we're 3 innings away from winning 2 series in a row...

Why is Fausto still in this game? I know the bullpen has struggled, but I don't like seeing him throw 110-115 pitches like this.

They actually lost their last series against the Twins. Maybe you're thinking of the Cavs.

Thank god Fausto pitched well tonight.

And the bullpen blows another one.

I wouldn't count on him being brought up until late June/early July. The FO isn't going to risk him being a Super Two player in exchange for (if we're lucky) an extra win in the standings. I expect Dellucci to get recalled tomorrow and Joe Smith to get optioned to Columbus after tonight's game.

Bullpen blew it yes, but things may have been different if DeRosa didn't blow it on a routine grounder that had double play written all over it.

The good news is when the Tribe goes on their annual 2nd half run, the division leaders should still be around .500.
