What does everybody think about Tennessee's D-Coordinator Jim Schwartz? I think he deserves some more talk (so far I've hear Kirk Ferentz name more). Josh McDaniels seems a little too young to me for being a NFL Head Coach.

Clearly Riverman should change his avatar to Marvin Lewis.

ugh...i got into several arguments with Josh's dad, Thom McDaniels (h.s. football coach, led his son to a state title at Canton McKinley), and i reallyreally dislike him. i'll tell stories i suppose if the time's ever right, but for whatever reason, i can't root for the guy's son...

combine that with the fact that we already whiffed on a n.e. coordinator, and i like to think there are better options than josh mcd..

Wow...the second half of this article...is so ****ed up....****ing Savage is a massive douchebag

Yeah the whole Savage thing is what the ****? Hopefully he breached his contract when he wrote that FU email during the Bills game.

The only thing you can commend Crennel on is how he always was the frontman when things went wrong. Savage never showed his face. He just sent clueless Romeo to do the press conference.

I guess right now I'm hoping for Pioli/Spagnola.

Finally some good news:

Quote:
The Browns will interview defensive coordinator Mel Tucker for their head-coaching job within "the next couple of days."
Here's a back-handed slap to the face for Browns fans. Tucker, promoted to coordinator after serving as Cleveland's DBs coach for three years, led the NFL's 26th-ranked defense in 2008. Only the Chiefs had fewer sacks. There should be a revolution in Cleveland if Tucker becomes Browns coach.

Looks like Mangini is gonna be the guy. At least he has some street cred for being in that one Sopranos episode.

ESPN is reporting that it's a done deal for Mangini.

Plain Dealer is reporting that he's likely bringing multiple J E T S assistants with him.

Jets QB coach Brian Daboll as OC and Rob Ryan from Oakland as DC, reported by ESPN.

I find it strange that the Browns locked up a coach before a GM. Am I the only one?

After the news broke about Mangini not wanting Favre but getting stuck with him anyway I feel like he got a raw deal in New York. On that note he also made a lot of mistakes, which was to be expected. He is going to be a good Head Coach as long as he learns from what he did wrong with the Jets.

I don't know a thing about Daboll except that he's only about 2 years older than Brady Quinn. Okay, maybe 5 years. Ha.

I find it strange that after the last 4 years of failure they're going with another Belicheck coaching product and probably another Ozzie Newsome GM product. The one thing that's encouraging is at least Mangini has NFL coaching experience.

Its a disaster waiting to happen, hiring the coach before the GM.
Since the GM did not pick his own coach, it usually leads to problems.

I hope Eric does better his second time around.
He needs to coach more like he did in his first season with the Jets.
He took more chances and it paid dividends.

what do we know about rob ryan?

getting the OC from the jets is expected, but getting the DC from oakland...what do we know about him? how does he know mangini?

i know oakland stunk, but in my head, i picture their defense as nasty...did they blitz alot? or are we gonna sit back and let everything come to us??

i'd reallyreally appreciate it if we could get aggressive on defense. stand up to baltimore and pittsburgh..

He was the linebacker's coach in NE from 2000-2003, so I would assume him and Mangini know each other pretty well.

ahh...sooo, will we be blitzing a little more??

i know our corners are young, but they're getting to be above average...they can't hold coverage long enough for us to send 6 to the QB?

FYP, I would be thrilled with rey rey, or even better Aaron Curry, if we didn't have the number 5 pick and were pretty much obligated to give him more money than the top LB's in the league already.
