The Cubs are definately still the favorites in the division. Weren't they in a lot worse shape at this point in the season 2 years ago and still cruised? I just hope the Cards are still in the wild card hunt at the end.

This is the first season in the past few years where I don't think the Cubs are the favorite... and I honestly don't think they're going to make the post season this year. (*still regretting the DeRosa trade). They defenitely won't win the wild card, (I'm pretty sure the WC will come out of the NL East) so they need to take the division.. and I consider every team in the NL central to contend this year. The Cards, Brewers and Reds are all solid ball clubs... and I won't be suprised if either the Astros or Pirates get hot during the second half and cause a stir.

I'm going to re-quote this post in mid-august. It will be amusing.

was it last year or 2 years ago that they "got back to basics" during spring training?

i'm wondering because there are waaaay too many bonehead plays occurring, on an almost daily basis.

God dammit. Why have Soto bunt? What possible ****ingoihioadsngoiadng reason? TV stat immediately shown: in 240 major league at bats, Soto has never bunted.

His second strike was him trying to pull the bat back to take a ball, but he was too late and the ball bounced foul. Announcers: "Now we know why he's never bunted."

That was a rough game to watch, the old "I'll just have another beer 'cause the game will be over soon" left me in a rough spot.

So is this the point where i need to find a bunch of hot chics in cardinals gear and post them in our thread? You guys thought your offense was crappy during that cold streak earlier.

why have any of our guys bunting with no outs and a man on first? This strategy is dependent on getting hits with guys in scoring position. We're not good at that. Even if we were, I'd still hate it. FFS, we had Dome bunt in this situation. Man on first, hole is open, let him ****ing hit.

Wow, Moehler looked awful. The guy has no good pitches. Fastball is mediocre, slider hardly breaks and not even sure if he has a changeup.

Why isn't Backe a starter anymore? I always thought that guy was decent.

OMG the Cubs sent Fox down and called up Miles. This kind of incompetence has to be intentional, right? A conspiracy to prevent the Cubs from ever winning a World Series?
