We better not **** this up. Regardless of whether or not it had to happen, this has the potential to become a huge culture change and a franchise-defining moment.

I sincerely hope though that even the most ardent Lovie haters itt give the man his due props. He brought us back to respectability and I think a lot of us took that for granted. Nothing but a class act and I was proud to call him our coach.

Geddy is right, this is a huge moment for the bears. I'm would be really pleased if they landed Gruden. He's gonna be getting a lot of offers I imagine over the next could of days.

It's the Bears, all of our head coaches are just whoever's a first time coach who was a coordinator (usually defense) who will take a lower amount of $ to do it compared to everybody else. Our edge is that we have the best available coaching gig/QB.

I think next season mostly depends on the DC, if the DC wants to change to his system we're going to have a hard time adjusting the roster to it in one offseason. if we regress at all defensively, we're boned.

Norv might be an OC, but no way are we letting him make in game strategy decisions, dude routinely stands on 16 vs a dealer 10 in blackjack (this is a simmons story somewhere).

Devon Hester says he may retire, please thank you.

Hester's gonna get cut anyways (I have to think), so whatever, good riddance.

He was ****ing awful this year.

lol @ good riddance for the GOAT We got ridic spoiled with him and it's a shame they screwed him up with the WR crap so he didn't get the return records he should've.

Yeah he's got to go tho, he's at the age where RB's/returners aren't good anymore.

Also this is true

Yeah, I was probably harsh. It was a great run while it lasted. But man oh man, was he ever frustrating to watch the last couple of seasons. He was a detriment to this team down the stretch, and that's an unfortunate end for a player who'll otherwise go down as a Bears legend.

Ugh, this just sucks, everything about this year.

Urlacher on ESPN1000 right now: "I'm still a Bear. I can't see myself going anywhere else."

On adjusting to a different defensive system (not cover 2): "I don't think it'd be that hard."

Not saying I dislike the move, but its pretty crazy that if the Packers beat the Vikings yesterday Lovie is not being fired

Semi surprised with the move, but don't have a problem with it. Lovie was reasonably competent though, entirely possible they could be worse at HC for the future. Lovie is HC in KC pretty soon imo.

Arians would be solid.

Broncos' OC Mike McCoy being interviewed this weekend, Arizona also interested.

He's been doin' work for Denver.

I respect Lovie and he far exceeded what I thought he would be when the Bears hired him.

As for a new coach I have no idea how this is going to go. The good news is that it looks like this will be all Emery's decision and the Bears have to be the most desirable job out there right now. Who knows if they will spend money on a coach, but you have to imagine there are going to be a bunch of good coaches itching to get this job. Just please don't **** it up.

welp lovie haters, you got your wish. I don't like the move personally but we'll see what happens.

i'm pumped they're interviewing the broncos OC (he had god making him look good this season and jesus last season) and the yucks OC. Both would be SUCH big improvements to smith.

Firing Lovie seems questionable but I may be giving him too much credit for Tillman's exceptional ability to force the fumble. Seems like since Lovie's taken over the Bears D has been unreal good at forcing turnovers and the special teams have been amazing.

Lovie's MO for the defense has always been to get the ball back and score. I would assume the players will continue that tradition without him, but ballhawking was very publicly emphasized by Lovie and his staff.
