I had the sickest feeling the game was blown when a very solid late drive only resulted in a Gould FG for 15-13. 1st and goal from the 5...gotta punch that in.

Cutler's response should be very interesting. Ugh, such a sick loss.
Interesting, Earl Bennett being their #1 receiver (isn't it actually Hester?) didn't seem to factor into many Bears' fans minds when they were all predicting a Super Bowl this year after trading for Cutler. As a Broncos' fan, let me assure you that you will be seeing many more games like last night, and they will usually be at the most inopportune times. But hey, you'll also get some 4 TD, 400 yard performances, but those will probably come against the Lions.

And yes, I know, lol Orton.

I was wondering the same and I hate da bears. Losing is one thing but having the messiah take a dump on the field and the team captain out for the year, not the best way to kickoff the season. Reset button imo.

lol, well that's what I'd get at. It came across my mind. I didn't think Super Bowl, but I did think clear-cut favourites for the NFC North.

Gotta use Greg Olsen more imo.

It's a tough loss, as is Urlacher. But there's still a lot of silver lining. If there hadn't been then I'd be seriously worried.

Briggs would have been less replacable.

The D was awesome. And that was without Url and Pisa for 3 quarters. It'll be better when Bowman/Tillman are fit enough to start together.

And we barely lost, away at a Division rival, with Cutler throwing 4 picks and the D getting no turnovers. That is a supreme abberation for Jay and the D.

If we hand the Steelers their first loss since 2008 the clouds will dissapear.

as a person stuck in Chicagoland, I can say it is much more exciting to watch a Cutler led Bears team instead of the crap offense I've witnessed nearly my entire life. Perhaps if the Bears had a QB and passing game when I was growing up, I wouldn't hate them so much.

@ZachZaidman Urlacher has missed 7 total games in his career. The Bears are 0-7 in those games (2004).

Losing Urlacher changes the Bears cover-two into a more traditional cover two with more weaknesses against tight-ends. Something the Packers did a very poor job of after Urlacher left. Colinsworth mentioned it in the fourth, but I really think the Packers could have put the game away if they figured this out. No Urlacher puts alot more pressure on Payne.

Omiyale needs to head to the bench. Sure he made one good block in the preseason, but Beekman has outplayed him all camp and the whole preseason. Of they keep making decisions based on who is making more money or who is their draft pick.

I don't expect a win against the Steelers, it would be nice, but I doubt it. I fully expected to start the year 0-2. Now if they can stop losing 2-3 guys every game I'll be much happier.

yeah i think urlacher has become underrated due to having been a little overrated. he plays a huge role in coverage-- guy is practically a safety on some plays.

no moral victories but spotting a team 3 turnovers (not counting the final one) usually results in getting blownout so the fact that you guys were still in a position to win the game bodes well for the rest of the season

Probably not the most reputable site, but quite a few of them are already reporting preliminary talks.

Whoops...wrong link, but same story with more cred. k, NBC is kinda reputable.

wheres the Broncos Season Thread? I dont feel like searching for anything that isnt on the first page.

Anyway, I guess this is close enough to a Denver thread as any...

I just wanted to say congrats to the Broncos for that great victory...and it must be nice to have a great QB like Orton taking the snaps. He is soooo clutch, did anyone see that 80 yard bomb he threw to Stokely for the winning TD with no time left?

Orton = CLUTCHLAHHHHHHHHHH!

Spoiler:

Yeah those standard non-picks (clue: that's why they're on Defense) were certainly much luckier than the Immaculate Reception, Part II.

Le sigh.
