Basically Collins is the won't make a mistake guy. If they were playing a team that was better you probably would see Hanie. But as long as they avoid turnovers and can put together one or two drives they should win this game.

im thinking its that Collins is Martz's guy. Martz tried so hard to get a veteran backup and finally got one. I think if the Bears intended to just run the ball, Hanie would be starting but Collins means that Martz's game plan wont change much because his ego is too big

IlliniLou is right, Collins no doubt came in at the behest of Martz who wanted a vet backup (when Bulger and such were available).

Collins seemed to take to the Offense straightaway in Preseason, and the game shouldn't be too much for him. Having said that though he looked bad in limited action on Sunday, and Hanie looked fine. I think Caleb has a good skillset, and if Collins looks as bad on Sunday I hope they let Hanie take over. His mobility is an asset, and the guy could develop into something.

As for this game, season-wise we're natch sunk without Cutler.

It couldn't come at a better time though.

With Carolina starting their rookie 2nd rounder at QB (Clausen), and Steve Smith out. Not to mention Peppers with all the motivation in the world to go back there and unleash hell.

All our D should need to focus on is shutting down their run game, and our O on moving the ball some. Look for us to run the ball a LOT more.

I say this one's there for the taking, even without Cutler.

How do you bring out Collins for the 2nd half when he's gone 5/11 for 26 yards and THREE PICKS.

F** me.

So he's JUST thrown his FOURTH PICK.
6/16, 32 yards.

Someone needs sacking if he walks back on the field.

****ing good job it's our D and Carolina's rookies...

Awesomeness.

Loved the Packers FG thunking of the post. And Rodgers throwing the key pick in Overtime.

Maybe everyone will get of their, and his, jock now.

Sweet Sunday.

Hanie has to be moved up to backup now. Collins is AIDS-bad.

Thank God it was Carolina today.

That certainly was an ugly game. I am glad we some how pulled out that first quarter cushion. Even though this is just Carolina it is obvious that this Bears D is legit. They look as good as they have looked all decade. This D could keep them in the game against any team.

Going forward I heard or read somewhere that Jay is coming back next week. This is not too rough of a stretch so hopefully Martz will show his genius and feast on screens/runs/short passes for the love of god.

On a side note, has anyone heard anything about Chris Williams? What an injury plagued mess that guy has been. Another obvious miss w/r/t the Bear's scouting office.

That was a petty solid win for how bad Collins played. That really has to be one of the worst performances in a winning effort ever. Even bad Rex games weren't that bad.

Chris Williams is expected to take some reps in practice this week. He should be back this week or next. I still remember that draft when everyone said they were passing on Williams because he had a bad back. Angelo insisted it was fine. IR with a back injury his rookie year. But it was "unrelated" to any earlier injury.

do we have all our draft picks this year or no? its a certainty we go o-line early right? or Lovie gonna be all Lovie and go with another safety or d-lineman

Yeah, all 7 plus STL 7th.

The "D-line every pick" is waaaaaay more Angelo than Lovie. The guy has a jones for DE's and DT's (and a disdain for Oline). If there was a "D-Line Monthly" he'd have a perma-subscription.

Honestly I stll expect him to go DL with a #1. If Izzy regresses it'll be DE, if not DT.

Personally I'd not hate a 1/2 OL. Could maybe use earlyish picks at CB, WR and DL too.

Yeah, but we did win the division in 2005 with Orton, lol. 59.7 QB rating for the year but somehow he goes 10-5 in his starts. That season was nothing short of a minor miracle.

Cutler is coming back this week. I have a feeling Martz is going to be forced to run alot again this week. I wonder how mad that makes him. LOLOL
