Glennon and his 5.3 yards per attempt are not just fine, he is a less mobile Hoyer.

Glennon attempted 4 passes that traveled greater than 10 yards, we won't be beating any quality teams with Glennon under center.

Subject Trubs to that because he has shown superior mobility, superior accuracy and players learn by playing. Only benefit to Glennon running out there is it increases the likelihood Fox is canned.

If you won't put Trubs out there unless the situation is ideal around him then he will be on the bench until his rookie deal expires.

Second feeling bad for Kevin, all accounts are he is a really great dude who has always treated the fans well.

bears had a better than expected showing against GB week 1 last season too.

This WR group is there with the Jets in WTF now. I still think we're gonna win 6. Team is alright in most spots on the field and they'll never tank intentionally. Bears dropped about every TD pass last year, so this isn't new.

We thought it couldn't get worse of a WR group than the days of Devin Hester WR1. This is worse.

Short passing? Are those crappy receivers gonna magically get open downfield for Trubs? Mobility is sure a factor though and Glennon don't have it. But you are basically basing Trubs off of a couple semi-impressive pre season games.

No one is much less qualified to be a starting NFL QB. He started 13 college games is in an entirely different offensive system and went through an NFL pre season. That's it. If/when he plays it will be ugly. Ugly enough to potentially ruin him. He needs more reps and film work with coaches learning the game at this level and in this system.

He'll get his chance likely sooner than later. I honestly think Glennon has potential and they paid him enough where he should get a shot. Besides I would rather see Glennon get Fox fired than Trubs get Pace fired. Then again maybe we can get a toofer

Glennon not good enough yet?

Yeah, he sucks But ... so does the rest of the team. I have seen enough of him to know he is just a placeholder/backup. Stares down to much and no mobility. The worst receiving core in the league doesn't help. I just don't wanna ruin Trubiinsky sending him out to get killed before he is ready. This is just a frustrating team to have to follow and root for.

Glennon had plenty of time yesterday for the most part, the idea that Trubs is gunna die out there is an illusion.

If we traded assets to pick a guy at 2 who can't play this season its officially fire everyone time.

I'm sure Trubisky will get in there as soon as they think he's ready. Even Pace & Fox know Glennon isn't the long-term answer at this point, but I don't have any issue holding back Trubisky if they honestly think it's better for his development to get more practice time before getting thrown to the wolves. If anything, those guys would err on the side of rushing him along if they thought he was the better option right now, since their jobs are on the line, so the fact that they're not should tell you something about his readiness. And there's nothing wrong with that as long as he's making progress. If Glennon keeps playing like this, I'm sure we'll see a change sooner rather than later. In the meantime, just embrace the suck. If you're rooting for this team to win games this year, you're doing it wrong.

A player taken at #2 should be Pro ready and if he is not the FO needs to be held accountable.

I've embraced the suck, been doing it for 25 years.

He wasn't pro ready though and we knew that on draft night. He'd never even taken a snap from under center until training camp. I've never heard of the standard that a draft pick is bad if they don't start opening day. There's a long list of HoF QBs who didn't.

You really think trading up for a guy who at #2 (Give me the list of QBs picked in the top 5 who didn't make an impact year 1 that are in the HOF, it aint long ) who isn't ready to play is indicative of a FO and coaching staff making good decisions?

Personally, I think he is plenty ready (Certainly more ready than Glennon at anypoint in his time here). Again IF he isn't, people should be fired for such poor prospect evaluation.

Its not like Trubs has mechanical issues that he needs to work out, ala Godgers, if you won't run him out there with this trash roster, he shouldn't have been the pick at 2. Trubs biggest issue is his lack of experience, he isn't getting more experienced on the bench, every snap Glennon takes stunts Trubs' development.

From modern era HOF QBs drafted in the top five

didn't make impact:
Troy Aikman
Terry Bradshaw
Len Dawson
John Elway
Bobby Layne

made impact:
Otto Graham
Bob Griese

You're right that the list that didn't make an impact isn't very long, but the list that did make an impact is even shorter...

The list on the made impact side is shorter, but recent trends will make it longer when guys picked in the last 15 years start getting their HOF eligibility (Mannings). Rivers is the only guy in the last 10 years that might add to the no impact list.

But Redshirting the #2 pick is absolutely standard. Nothing to see here.

Neither Eli, Rivers, or Roethlisberger were the week 1 starters. Carson Palmer and Aaron Rodgers were red shirted. Making the veteran QBs lose their starting job before bringin in rookie QBs is commonplace.

While there are plenty of first round bust QBs, many first round picks that ended up being good did not begin the season as QB1.

People are talking about red shirting him the entire year waiting for the right scenario to play him (Unless our Oline and Receivers are going to magically improve in season)

Should be out there after the bye at a minimum.

Y'all still don't think Trubs can't handle this run first, 1 read short passing O?

Dunno enough about Trubisky's experience/personality to comment on start/sit.

Introverted personalities nearly always should sit a year so they can build their confidence instead of it being trashed from a bad performance or bad WR's/OL and it's tough for them to get it back. Guys like Deshaun Watson should start right away as his confidence wouldn't get ruined no matter what happens.

that said, *generally* they should play to gain experience, there's only so much you can learn from the bench. Glennon ain't gonna be starting in year 2, or else trubisky is a massive bust and we're ****ed.

It's quite dependent on teams/coaches and all that. If you're a QB, it's a huge difference from say Andy Reid than Jeff Fisher.

I think I might be ready to see Trubisky This team can run the ball! And the defense has been pretty impressive. Cooper is ******ed. Anyway BEAR DOWN! It's Packer week and on a Thursday.

This needs a reappearance here

Trubisky gonna start next game. I hope he can hit those crappy receivers in the hands as often as Glennon did and that they actually catch them. His mobility should be a plus and I figure he will let it loose more. Of course that is a double edged sword.

Anyway looking forward to the new era hoping that this guy isn't the second coming of Cade McNown.

Seeing Watson (who looked like the better pick on draft day) playing so well has me between feeling excited and scared. I want Trubisky to be great, but if he is not this could be a long term **** up for the Bears.

Watson almost has to look better because he gets to throw to Hopkins who puts up pro bowl numbers no matter what scrub QB is throwing to him. Guys like Wright and Bellamy would make Brady and Rodgers look bad.

So he will get 2-3 years of failure because he "has no weapons" and then when they do get him some everyone will ***** because they are not "playing Bears Football" running the ball and playing great defense and that is why they suck and it will just be another 7 year rinse and repeat cycle.

I'm rooting for the kid, I want to be wrong. I have been wrong on a couple of Pace's picks I thought would stink that have turned out ok. This is a big one though. If he is wrong here they have to admit it fast, if he is right, then I will gladly eat crow.

Pace doesn't get another shot if he is wrong, Trubs is the ship and Pace rises or goes down with him.
